Research Focus 2010-11

• Continuing to focus research themes to create larger cohesive groupings

• Development of processes to maximise REF submission

• Enabling a cohesive, supportive environment for junior & senior researchers alike

Next steps...

Focus on trying to ensure that potential 2* and 3* papers are supported to ‘tip’ to the higher grade:– Focus on meaning for practice: “Transformational benefit”– Internal peer review before journal submission

Review qualitative comments:– Some policy work may not be considered research– Where the work was not done in Cardiff need to be clear on

author’s role being major– Strengthening abstracts: better descriptions of methods and

implications for practice
