Past President Educational Meeting:
Jan 30- 12pm La Cita- Standing Rule Comm.
The Porthole January 2013
Pilot Club Of Titusville - Florida District Dear Pilots, Happy New Year:
As we start this year, take a moment to look back and see how many lives we have
touched, the relationships we have made and strengthened and what we have
accomplished. Now look ahead and envision what is waiting for you in your personal
life as well as your Pilot life. Do not allow opportunities to make a difference in
someone’s life or even to enrich your own life get away. Open your heart, accept and
respect one another with the understanding and acceptance that each one of us are
unique, have a voice and are passionate about our mission.
The Standing Rule Committee and the Past Presidents presented you with their
recommendations to our standing rules and policies & procedures. On Jan. 30th there
will be a presentation and discussions of these recommendations and we will vote on
it at the Feb. business meeting. Many changes were made at the July PI Convention
in Las Vegas that will change the way Pilot does business, still allowing each club to
perverse its culture and tradition if desired. It is vital that you are a part of the
process and that you attend these meetings and let your voice be heard. Change is
what make organizations grow, only if embraced by its members. You have a voice
and as your President I want to hear from you.
As part of our growth we must address and embrace our Strategic Planning, and
while we do have one in place, the tactics on implementing it are very vague and or
unrealistic. This task cannot be accomplished without your support and participation.
We are fortunate to have a member that is very knowledgeable on the subject. Rosa,
has led us to identify the 3 major areas of concern. It is now the time to explore the
“how’s” to address those areas and move to the next level.
I am most grateful to our Division Chairs for staying on task with the plans of work
and working diligently with their committees. The effort that the Membership
Division has made this year in inspiring, educating and strengthening our members is
a true statement to the goals set for this year. The Fundraising Division is almost
done with their "obligations", however the biggest fundraising is coming up March
23rd and we NEED YOUR PARTICIPATION to make it successful. The Project Division
continues to work on providing coupons and perishables for the Scholarship houses
and as per members request, adopted a family at Christmas. Thanks to all that made
it possible. I know that from time to time projects like this are not in the Plans of
Works and we ask members to voluntarily be a part of it, and although some feel we
are always asking, we can not deprive those members that willingly and generously
want to participate. It is truly an opportunity to work together as a team, instead of
being viewed as asking for more. The Anchor Division is growing each year and I am
most grateful to this committee for all they do and their involvement with the club,
We can always count on those Anchors. We should assist them if we can with their
convention project.
We have a lot more to do this year, let’s stay focused to our mission, live by our code
of ethics and work together to strengthen The Pilot Club of Titusville and our
relationships. Let’s respect one another and focus on how we can solve our issues
and continue to grow. Let's all be a part of the solution.
Thank you for the opportunity to serve as your President. Lily Renzetti

“Service with a Purpose” – This is volunteerism at its best where you give back to help others. Membership is expanded and developed
when individual relationships are created each time you interact with a member. In the coming weeks, an election will be held at the
business meeting to select the 2013 Nominating Committee members. Last October, and again in January, the Membership Division
presented programs on leadership illustrating how each of you have the talents and gifts to serve as leaders of this Club. Additionally,
you also have the option to serve at the District or International levels. By attending Fall Council and Pilot International leadership
conferences you will learn firsthand that Pilot International is about “service with a purpose” and opportunities for serving at this level.
PI President Winner Brewer, Past President Jan Bratcher, and Past President Robin Porta gave us tools at our January meeting that can
be used to strengthen our membership and club. Education is important, but motivation is more important and with motivation comes
inspiration.
The goal in Leadership is to always empower others. Understanding how someone is motivated allows leaders to motivate people
positively, e.g. in the ways they were meant to be motivated. When we completed “The Color Test” exercise in January, we saw how
unique and different we are. We don’t all process things the same way, but when the goal is “service with a purpose” membership
grows and members say “yes” when the Nominating Committee members come knocking! This is Pilot International, a volunteer
organization where members make a difference.
Servant leadership is made up of the following principles: (1) listening, (2) empathy, (3) healing, (4) awareness, (5) persuasion, (6)
conceptualization, (7) foresight, (8) stewardship, (9) commitment to growth, and (10) building community. In my opinion, it is simply
communication – one conversation at a time. Say “YES” to a leadership role in the Pilot Club of Titusville.

Inspiration by Robin Porta When trials and challenges come, it is easy to feel overwhelmed or discouraged. You may feel lost or uncertain about the
future. That is when we need to turn our hearts and minds to God, because He has promised that no matter what we face, we
can have His perfect peace. We can feel His perfect love. We can have confidence because He has already overcome the world.
The key is that we have to keep an eternal perspective. We have to know that the trials that come our way are only
temporary. We may experience tragedy or loss in this life, but with God on our side, we have the ultimate victory in eternity. We
may have seasons of grief or sadness here on earth, but He is our comforter, and in the end, He will wipe away every tear from
our eyes.
Remember, when difficulties arise, focus on the fact that you have the ultimate victory. Don't let fear paralyze you; instead,
put your faith and hope in God. Those things that the enemy meant for evil, God will turn around for your good. He'll lead you out
stronger, wiser and more alive than ever before. By Joel and Victoria Osteen

Dear Pilot Members,
At our January Program Meeting, The Membership Division did a wonderful evaluation of our different personalities
and strengths. With the new Pilot year only a few months away, I would like each member to consider taking a leadership role in
our club. We are all strong women in our community and our club can benefit from the experience and passion we each have
been blessed with. Our club has been so successful over the years and will continue to be strong well into the future with your
help and leadership.
Your Sister in Pilot,
Esther Porta

Thank you to our members for their generous participation in providing for a family in need. The meal
and toys were taken to them on Christmas Eve. Bikes were given to the two older boys and a used lap
top computer was found for school work use. Socks, underwear and paper goods were also supplied.
We are grateful to the Space Coast Pilot Club for their participation with us for this project. Pilots
working together to make a difference. Many hands make light work.
Thanks to Pam Boddy for organizing this project and to the
Pilots that made it possible. We served 128 residents at
the Harry T. Moore Social Services Center in Titusville. A

For many years The Pilot Club of Titusville has contributed to the Flag and Memorial Committee in their pursuit to foster ,
preserve and recognize those that have made a sacrifice for our country and patriotic values. Carole Clarke recently retired
from her role as Betsy Ross and passed this tradition to Jean Seiffert. Jean serves on the Flag and Memorial Committee and
represents our club as Betsy Ross. Thanks Carole and Jean for promoting patriotism in our community. shown on the picture from left to right are: Jean Seiffert aka Betsy Ross and Pilot member Billie Jo Strickland, Dinner table for our lost Hero, and Jean

Hello Pilots,
The Anchors are busy getting ready for Convention. The theme for the Florida District Anchor Convention is "Anchored at
Sea" The Convention will be held on March 2-3, 2013 at The Worldgate Resort in Kissimmee. The cost is $80 per person for
registration and the room rate is $80 per night. All of you are invited to attend. If you would like more information or
would like to attend, I will be glad to help you. The deadline to register and book your room is February 1, 2013. Mrs.
Feaster and myself are planning on driving the Anchors to and from Convention.
Our District Project this year at Convention, will be filling Christmas Stockings for the Organization called "Give Kids the
World" in Kissimmee. The families and their child stay at a place that is set up like a Village so that they may enjoy their
"Dream Vacation". Every Thursday night they have a Christmas Party with Santa. For some of these children, it may be
their last Christmas Celebration. We are collecting donations for the stockings. If you would like to donate, I will be glad to
give you the list of items needed. Please see me.
We will be meeting more frequently these next few months to plan and practice the lip sync contest that the Anchors will
perform and compete with other clubs at Convention.
The next meeting dates are Tuesday, January 22, 2013 and Monday, January 28, 2013. Meetings are held in Mrs. Feaster's
room at 3:30.
Until next time,
Robin
