You will need a big plastic bottle(rib cage), two balloons(lungs), straws(Trachea/bronchus),a plastic bag(diaphragm), some cellophane tape, some plasticine, a pair of scisssors and a craft knife. How to make a model of the human respiratory system First, cut the bottom of the plastic bottle with a craft knife.

Step 1Step 2

Cut a straw in half, and make two hole in a bigger straw. Then, attach both halves of the straw to the big straw with some plasticine. You must also cover the bottom end of the big straw.Step 3

Attach a balloon to each end of the straw.

Step 4Make a hole through the bottle cap and put the straw through it as shown in the picture.Step 5Cover the bottom of the plastic bottle with a plastic bag.ExplainationWhen you breathe air in, the diaphragm(plastic bag) contracts, moves down. This will cause the air pressure inside the lungs(balloons) to decrease and air is forced through the trachea(straw) and into the lungs(balloons). The lungs(balloons) will expand.Inhalation

ExhalationExhalation is the opposite of inhalation. When you breathe out, the diaphragm(plastic bag) moves up, causing the air pressure in your lungs(balloons) to increase, the air is forced out of the lungs(balloons) and the lungs(balloons) will shrink.
