Hi, Grandpa and Grandma!Hi,Ma!Hi,Pa! Hello my litte brother Rimong! are you surprised

i am sending you this cassette instead of writing you a letter? recoeding what i want to

say is so much easier. Phoning is too expensive.

OK folks, let me start by talking about the families here. you know how we all-grandpa,

grandma, aunt, uncle and cousins-live together in our longhouse in Sarawak? Well,

people here lived in ‘extended families’ like ours generations ago but now most families

are nuclear families. These are families where only a father, a mother and their children

live together.

I know a funny little man,As quiet as a mouse,

Who does the mischief that is doneIn everybody's house!

There's no one ever sees his face,And yet we all agree

That every plate we break was crackedBy Mr. Nobody

`Tis he who always tears our books,Who leaves the door ajar,

He pulls the buttons from our shirts,And scatters pine afar;

That squeaking door will always squeak,For, prithee, don't you see,

We leave the oiling to be doneBy Mr. Nobody

The finger marked upon the doorBy none of us are made;

We never leave the blind unclosed,To let the curtains fade.

The ink we never spill; the bootsThat lying round you. See
