students in Netball, that empowers them

to pursue their sporting dreams. Students

with demonstrated ability in Netball are

supported through mentoring, training

and education from nationally

accredited and industry experienced

coaches.

The essence of our coaching philosophy, is based on the long

term development of athletes in their physical conditioning, techniques, tactics, mental approach and satisfaction in learning new skills and enhancing existing skills. REDS aim to create an environment that is conducive to learning, embracing a culture of teamwork and fostering individual and team success through a progressive passion for commitment and work ethic.

LOCATIONPBC State High is situated in unique location that allows

these athletes to: access, train, grow and learn in a beautiful

coastal environment.

We have a large number of students who live out of

catchment and travel to PBC to gain the elite coaching

environment that PBC has to offer.

Specialist PBC school busses run directly too and from

suburbs up and down the Gold Coast.

Special accommodations are made to assist the travel of

our athletes, that include early departure times 2.55pm

(instead of 3.05pm), where all our student depart for their

bus and train together.

Currently, our girls that live in the Hinterland or Northern

Gold Coast catch disembarking at Varity Lakes. They board

the 760 Tweed Heads 8.00am bus that stops directly in front of Palm Beach Currumbin State High School.

In the afternoon, the athletes catch the 760 Robina Town

Centre bus, departing at Varsity Lakes Train Station, catching the Brisbane bound train at 3.40pm to arrive home

by 4pm.

How to get to PBC

TRAINING FACILITIESStudents in the Netball Program have access to a large 3 sectioned gym facility consisting of free weights and rigs, pin machine weights and a cardio room. All staff are

also highly trained and accredited in Strength & Conditioning.

Students also have access to a recovery and analysis gym, full sized indoor

court, playing fields and access to Palm Beach-Currumbin Olympic

swimming pool and Aquatic Centre.

TRAINING FACILITIES

LONG TERM ATHLETE DEVELOPMENT (LTAD)

SPORT EXCELLENCE CURRICULUMAll students in the program will satisfy the curriculum

requirements for their stage of schooling as determined by the

Queensland Department of Education and the Board of

Secondary School Studies. These students will also have access

to well-structured developmental programs of sports coaching

and training by highly qualified and experienced State

Association and school staff.

State Sporting Associations and “parent” professional

organisations play important roles within the sports excellence

program. They are involved in the selection of sport excellence

students and the development and delivery of the coaching

and training program.

Training and specialised coaching programs are conducted in

school time and may include sports related topics such as

sports nutrition, physiology, competition preparation and

psychology as well as tuition in time management, study skills

and goal setting.

The Sports Excellence Program is compatible with both the OP

and Non-OP strands of Senior Schooling 10, 11 and 12.

School-based traineeships are encouraged among Non-OP

students.

SPORT EXCELLENCE CURRICULUM TIMETABLE

There are three stages of the Sports Excellence Program.

Stage 1 - Foundation• 2 lessons per week

• Sport each week

• Participation in specialised clinics and Long Term Athlete

Development Programs

Stage 2 - Development • 2 lessons S.E.P. elective/week

• Sport each week

• Participation in specialised clinics and Long Term Athlete

Development Programs

Stage 3 - Specialist Years• 3 lessons S.E.P. elective/week

• Sport each week

• Lesson “O” extension(s) weekly to cover all development

domains

• Participation in specialised clinics

Students completing 11/12 Sports Excellence again 4 QCE

points.

STUDENT OBLIGATIONS

Students will only retain their position in the program by

continuing to meet the requirements of their chosen

sport and their school subjects.

All students will be required to sign a contract outlining

their responsibilities.

Progression from year level to year level in the program is

not automatic.

WORLD CLASS ACADEMIC RESULTS• PBC is the top non (fully) selective High School in QLD.

• PBC offer a much greater variety of subjects and programs as well as being flexible around timetables.

• The private schools in the area get a greater percentage of their students OP 1 to 5 and 1 to 15 but PBC actually get more students into the 1 to 5 and 1 to 15.

2017 Results:

• 100% of students received a QCE / QCIA (406 Students)• OP 1-5 = 19% OP Eligible Students• OP 1-15 = 92% OP Eligible Students

• 97% of students who applied received an offer to gain entry into University courses

(More than any of the private schools in South East QLD)

• 125 of yr 12’s completed School Based Traineeships (More than any other school in Australia)

• 185 students left Yr 12 with a Certificate III or Higher. (More than any other school in Australia).

Nissan 16U State Titles: Nissan 16U State Titles is to provide an opportunity for the best players, coaches and umpires from across Queensland (QLD) to compete against each other in a high quality competition. It also provides players with a shared platform to compete for selection in the QLD 17U Squad for the following year as well as creating the transition point from Association based netball (State Age, QPL) into a broader regional representative netball to drive the competitiveness and depth of talent in the QSNL competitions
