TAXES No taxes are included in stated rental rates. A 10% tax applies to all vacation property rentals. This is comprised of the standard 7% South Carolina sales and accommodations tax plus a 3% local accommodations tax. A 6% tax also applies to linen rentals and/or bed making.

CANCELLATIONS ONCE THE DEPOSIT HAS BEEN RECEIVED, NO REFUNDS OR ALTERATIONS CAN BE MADE ON A RESERVATION. GUESTS ARE STRONGLY ENCOURAGED TO PURCHASE TRAVEL INSURANCE TO PROTECT THEMSELVES AND THEIR TRAVELING COMPANIONS. PLEASE CONTACT THE TRAVEL INSURANCE FOR COVERAGE DETAILS.

TRAVEL INSURANCE Travel insurance is being offered by Rental Guardian. The insurance premium will be billed on renter’s initial vacation rental agreement and is 7 % of the rental rate. For more detailed information, please visit www.rentalguardian.com or call Rental Guardian at 1-888-933-1113 for policy, coverage or claims questions. While on your trip you have 24/7 Emergency Travel Assistance when you purchase travel insurance, call 1-888-933-1115 for any emergency assistance.

FAMILY ONLY POLICYWe have an agreement with our homeowners that we will only rent their home to family groups. We reserve the right to terminate a contract as the result of non-compliance to the family group policy, or any other policy stated on your vacation rental contract.

CHECKING IN & OUTThe Lachicotte Company Vacation Rentals check-in days are Friday, Saturday & Sunday. You will check in at our office at the above listed address. Check in time is 3:00pm. If the unit becomes available prior to the normal check-in time, our office will contact you for an early check-in. We want your vacation to be problem free! Once you arrive at your vacation home, please notify our office immediately if anything is out of order. Most situations can be remedied very quickly. If you are checking in after hours, your key packet will be placed in a combination lock box located on the front porch of our office. The lock box instructions will be located on your confirmation. If you have any repairs to report after hours, please call 888-581-3299.

CHECK-OUT PROCEDURES Check out time is at 10:00 a.m. Please place all rented bath and bed linen back in the red bag and leave on porch; leave mattress pads and bedspreads on bed, put dishes-including pots and pans-in the dishwasher and turn it on, being careful not to overload it. Do not leave food in dishes within the refrigerator. If you have extra food that you think the maids might use, please leave it in the refrigerator. Dispose of all bait for fishing or crabbing. Remove all garbage from every room and take it to the appropriate outside containers. Clean up any trash from under the house and dock areas including broken beach chairs, toys, and fishing or crabbing equipment. Check for all of your personal belongings.

DAMAGE WAIVER All vacation properties require a damage Waiver which is automatically included with all rentals for your protection from accidental damages to the property. This $50.00 non-refundable protection covers all accidental damages to the vacation rental up to $500.00. This fee does not cover misuse or intentional damages done to property. DAMAGES MUST BE REPORTED IMMEDIATELY AND PRIOR TO CHECK-OUT IN ORDER FOR THE RENTAL AGENCY TO REPAIR/REPLACE SAID DAMAGES. OTHERWISE, ALL DAMAGE COSTS WILL BE THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE RENTAL CONTRACT HOLDER. PET DAMAGE IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE CONTRACT HOLDER.

Rental PoliciesINTERNETAll vacation rental units are equipped with telephones. We do not guarantee Internet connectivity or speed. Each individual homeowner contracts directly with an I.S.P. and due to various reasons, (infrastructure, operating systems, etc.) The Lachicotte Company will not guarantee service.

“FORGET ME NOT” LIST All of our properties have fully equipped kitchens, all beds have mattress pads, pillows and bed spreads.You will need to bring:

MAIL AND MESSAGES All mail and messages will be held for you at the front desk at The Lachicotte Company. If you are having mail sent to you, please be sure to tell the sender to include your name & rental unit number on the envelope. Mail sent via US Postal Service should be sent to 10554 Ocean Hwy, Pawleys Island, SC 29585. It is your responsibility to check for any correspondence. If using UPS or Fed-Ex, they can deliver directly to the address of the home or condo you are staying in.

NON SMOKING RENTAL UNITS

All rental unit owners have selected to designate their units as no-smoking units. Guests of the unit violating that request will cause the entire party to be evicted with no refund. Should traces of smoke be detected by our cleaning/inspecting personnel, there will be a fee charged to the renter. Smoking includes all kinds of lighted material to be inhaled, including cigarettes, cigars, pipes, etc.

PETS

Dogs are allowed only in designated Pet Friendly homes. NO EXCEPTIONS. Pets are limited to two domestic, housebroken dogs unless otherwise advertised. There is a non-refundable $200.00 (plus tax) pet cleaning and spray fee that will be charged to each guest bringing a pet. Any violation with pets in a No Pets home or any pet other than a dog will be cause for termination of tenancy.

TRASH PICK-UP & RECYCLING Our beaches are serviced by an automated trash pick-up system. Renter must place all trash within the large cans at the renter’s unit the night before each pick-up day. Trash not placed in these cans will not be picked up.

All Pawleys Island rental units have recycling containers and will be picked up curbside on Wednesdays. Materials to recycle: all cans, and plastics including milk jugs, soft drink containers, shampoo bottles, laundry detergent containers, cough syrup containers, peanut butter jars, water bottles, salad dressing containers, household cleaner containers.

SEA TURTLESThe loggerhead sea turtle is South Carolina’s state reptile. This reptile is protected by state and federal laws. From May 1 to October 31, these sea turtles come to nest on our beaches. During this time it is strongly suggested that beachfront lights are turned off after 10:00 pm to avoid disturbing the nesting process.

FIREPLACESFireplaces will be shut down and unavailable for use from June 1 through November 1.

LOCKED CLOSETS Many owners have personal belongings locked in a closet for their convenience. These areas are off limits to renters and are not part of the rental agreement.

LOST & FOUNDThe Lachicotte Company will not be responsible for any personal items left in our vacation rental properties. Items that renters request to be returned will be taken to UPS. You will need to call UPS 843-237-7951 and give them a credit card number for shipping/handling charges. If the renter requests staff to go to the unit & retrieve an item the renter has left there, the renter will incur a $25.00 charge. Items left behind will be placed in our lost and found for a period of 10 days. After that period of time has expired, items will be donated to charity.

RENTAL HOMES FOR SALEIn the event the vacation home you are renting is on the market for sale, you will be informed of potential showings with next-day notification. These showings may occur any day between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. While the showings are necessary and mandatory, we will try our best not to cause you and your party any inconvenience. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding. Although every precaution has been taken, this information may contain errors.
