Paul Kim Gave his life to Christ in

1991 at Kampala Pentecostal Church.

Channelled his love for music in the choir playing drums.

There he met Sharpe Ssewali together with Fred Walusimbi, First Love was born.

Paul Kim through the eyes of First Love.

Pulsating drums……thumping bass lines……big moves……lights! Action! It’s Showtime!

In comes Paul so tripping on life itself, that for a moment you get a feeling that he’s immortal……or is he?

Most of Paul Kim’s public life was lived in the limelight….on stage with Afrigo, Uganda’s iconic band and First Love, the gospel quintet that has toured Africa, Europe and most of the USA.

As a founder member of First Love, Paul always felt inadequate to lead a group of strong willed and passionate peers and he constantly felt his peers were better equipped to carry that mantle.


But his skills at resolving conflicts and his passionate life was so intoxicating that none of his peers could help but agree that he truly was a leader among peers.

Paul’s passion to be the best at what he did showed up in all he endeavoured to do. His many songs have been sung by many all over Uganda….First Love included.

Paul Kim’s humility and selflessness was always evident in his actions… His desire to replicate himself in all those around him…and his passion to make good music better!!!


Paul’s belief was a song was never good enough unless its brought change….hence his ever evident tinkering with music in the studio until it was just right. And what music it was!!!!!

Paul finally made the ultimate hit when he met Olivia Mbabazi; a passionate hit song that stayed on the charts for more than 3 years….(too short)! And what a song it was, for even death couldn’t stop him putting the final touches to a great song that was to outlive him….Keisha Alinda Kim.


Alas, for Paul was not to enjoy this one last love song, a duet with his ever loving wife, Olivia!! We who live have been left to bask in the glow of yet another success.

Paul has exited to do more exploits in the great beyond and we who are left know that he has shown us the way…the way of love.

May his soul rest in peace.
