I liked the both the song and video, Frontin’ by Pharrell Williams.

I googled who the director was, and it came up with Paul Hunter.

I liked the look of the type of artists he has worked with.

Why I chose Paul Hunter

Page 3: Paul hunter

I liked how there was a mixture of a storyline and a performance.

I also liked the part in the video where Pharrell is taking photos, and the video changes to the still of the photo just taken.

I liked how the video is a mixture of bright colours, so it’s not dull and boring.

Why I chose Paul Hunter

Page 4: Paul hunter

As his debut single as a solo artist in 2003, the video shows a lot of close ups on his face. This is linked to the Andrew Goodwin theory of the record label's need for close up shots.

Page 5: Paul hunter

There is also shots showing the words 'Neptunes presents Clones' which is a reference to the album the song is from. This is linked to Andrew Goodwin's theory also, as the 6th point is Intertextual reference; in this case, it is their own album. . I also noticed that he is wearing a NERD belt which is an intertextual reference to his band.

There is another Intertextual reference of the clothing line that Pharrell is part of: Billionaire Boys Club. This is shown through the black top he is wearing in one scene and also on the shelves at the beginning of the video. I also noticed that he is wearing a NERD belt which is an intertextual reference to his band.

colour backgrounds• Fade transition• Mainly artist• Dancing

Keith Sweat featuring Kut Klose – Twisted

• Limited to only two ‘scenes’ – storyline and singing scene.

Continued..Keith Sweat featuring Athena Cage – Nobody

• Slow fades• Singing dancing scene in front of

car and in car• Scenes of woman walking – Notion

of looking at her body..• Multiple scenes• Shots of girl singing• Has a look of a classic film.

There doesn’t seem to be a clear theme within his work. It seems as though he is experimenting with different looks. All three videos are quite sophisticated though – rather than be wacky and outrageous.

He has worked with a mixture of music genres including artists like Marylin Manson (rock), Eminem (rap), Christina Aguilera (pop/r’n’b) and Jay Z (hip-hop). However, the majority of artists have ‘urban’ sounds – r’n’b, hip-hop and rap artists.

It seems as though this video also has a storyline. The video contains what seems to be a typical day, from waking up, going to school, going out clubbing afterwards, and the journey home.

Similar to his very early work, it has a scene in the middle which includes dancing.

Most recent video…

Nicole Scherzinger ft. 50 Cent - Right There (2011)Good quality film – probably because of the progress of technology but it almost looks like a film in the way it has been shot‘Sexy’ dancing & Nicole is wearing skimpy outfits to show off her bodyEffects used – made it look like the pavement was moving as though a travelator would (I particularly liked this because it gave the video that little bit extra, and it was visually entertaining for the eye)Has an urban feel (especially the alleyway scene) as it’s mainly outside, with buildings as the backgroundVisuals link with the music – dancing is in time to the beat
