SHINE: The Circles Quilt
Pattern by Elizabeth EastmondEach finished block measures 13” square • Finished quilt is 70” square
Skill Level: Beginner to Intermediate
Please read all the way through General Instructions before beginning. Make the number ofcopies needed (on page 2 of this pattern). For ease in piecing, I sometimes will cheat a little. See tips on page 3 of General Instructions.1. Layout all your prepared pieces. After glue-basting the seam allowances on every patternpiece, I stitched Inner Points B together in two groups of five. Then I sewed these twogroups together to make the inner circle.2. Add your Middle Arcs now, using the techniques you learned in the first two blocks:Anchor the corner of Middle Arc C to the top of Point B. Take two stitches to secure. Thenputting straight sides and right sides together, whipstitch the seam, heading down into theV, taking an extra stitch at that point, then heading back up the other side. I always take anextra stitch at seams or at points where I think there will be stress.3. Make Outer Points D in pairs. Sew two pairs together to make a unit of four. Add theOuter Arcs F in between the “hills” of the points.4. Sew your Outer Point Units onto your circle, adding one at a time, then sewing up theseams between them.5. Add final few Outer Arcs F, where needed.6. Finish according to General Instructions.
Block Three: Ljubljana

Print these pages twice, for a total of 10 pieces foreach shape. Cut out circle A once. It is helpful to cutthe circle slightly larger to cover the center hole, dueto variations in hand-piecing.English Paper Piecing patterns have no seamallowances; add them when cutting out the pieces. Please see General Directions for more information.
