IEEE Women in Engineering (WIE) Student Branch Affinity Group at National Institute of Technology Silchar was formed under IEEE Calcutta Section, India on 9th July 9, 2018. IEEE WIE cultivates female interest in Science, Technology, Engineer- ing, and Mathematics (STEM), and provides men- toring and career advice to the women in techni- cal professions. WIE encourages individuals from both the genders to exploit their diverse talent for the benefit of the society. The objectives of the program are: • Promotes Science and Engineering as an outstanding career option for women • Provides members with the opportunity to network and collaborate • Facilitates the recruitment and retention of women in technical disciplines. • Recognize the outstanding achievements of women • Promote women in leadership roles • Mentor young women in junior and high schools The mission of WIE is to inspire, engage, empower and encourage IEEE women worldwide.
