BRITISH RULE

India was under the British rule for 200 years till 1947. The freedom of India did not come easily.It required fearless courage and a true spirit of sacrifice for freedom of the mother nation.

FREEDOM FIGHTERS

Freedom fighters adopted different ways of fighting the British but the main objective was independenceThe first freedom fighters were Mangal Pandey, Rani of Jhansi, Tantia Tope, Gandhiji, Bahadur Shah Zafar, etc.

SEPOY MUTINY

The Sepoy Mutiny also known as the Revolt of 1857, was because of the harsh rule of the British.The main cause was the introduction of the Enfield rifle which was disliked by the Indian soldiers in the British army.It was greased with the fat of pigs and cows and had to be bitten off before it could be used.The sepoys refused to use it as it hurt their religious sentiments.
