Patriot League Announces Women’s Track & Field Academic Honor Roll 196 student-athletes receive Honor Roll recognition

Center Valley, Pa. – Nearly 200 women’s track & field student-athletes were named to this year’s Patriot League Academic Honor Roll, as each school tallied double-digit recipients and the eight teams combined for 196 honorees overall. Colgate’s Elise DeRoo won the 2010 Scholar-Athlete of the Year award for both the indoor and outdoor seasons, and recorded a 3.93 grade point average in the spring term as a Molecular Biology major, capping off what has been a stellar sophomore campaign. Eighteen women’s track & field student-athletes earned a 4.00 grade point average or higher for the spring term. Eight of those students come from Bucknell, with six from Navy. Bucknell led all Patriot League schools with 55 student-athletes making the Academic Honor Roll. Lehigh and Holy Cross each tallied 28, while Lafayette added 27 Honor Roll selections. To be eligible for the Academic Honor Roll, a student-athlete must earn a 3.20 grade-point average in the spring semester and participate in one of the Patriot League’s winter or spring championship sports. “Today’s Scholar-Athletes, Tomorrow’s Leaders” – The Patriot League continually demonstrates that student-athletes can excel at both academics and athletics without sacrificing its high standards. The Patriot League’s athletic success is achieved while its member institutions remain committed to its founding principle of admitting and graduating student-athletes that are academically representative of their class. Participation in athletics at Patriot League institutions is viewed as an important component of a well-rounded education.

Patriot League Announces Women’s Rowing Academic Honor Roll 108 student-athletes receive Honor Roll recognition

Center Valley, Pa. – One hundred and eight women’s rowing student-athletes have been named to this year’s Patriot League Academic Honor Roll, including 2010 Scholar-Athlete of the Year Elizabeth Regan of Bucknell. Regan, a senior, finished the spring semester with a 3.92 GPA as an Accounting major. She has earned a spot on the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll in each of her four seasons at Bucknell. Eleven Patriot League student-athletes posted 4.0 GPAs in the spring semester. Devon Mitchell, a senior Biology major at Bucknell, received a 4.0 for her efforts and was joined in this feat by teammates Meghan O’Reilly (French), Julia Steen (Chemical Engineering) and Kim Weaver (Biochemistry). Colgate’s Victoria Hulit, a senior Pyschology major, joins the list with a 4.0, along with Holy Cross sophomore Classics major Eliza Gettel. Lehigh senior Computer Science major Whitney Levine, sophomore Arts and Sciences major Jacqueline Ogden and freshman Arts and Sciences major Alyssa Klein each posted a perfect GPA. Navy junior Amy Davis, a Quantitative Economics major, and freshman Jacqueline Penichet, who majors in Systems Engineering, rounded out the list with perfect 4.0s. Bucknell paced all Patriot League schools with 33 student-athletes making the Academic Honor Roll. Holy Cross tallied 21 student-athletes for Honor Roll selection, while Navy placed 20.
