Patricia “Pat” Haynes Duplant, 74, passed away on Saturday, October 21st, 2017 surrounded by her family at CHRISTUS Southeast Texas - St. Elizabeth Hospital. She was the wife of U.E. “Bootsie” Duplant. They shared 55 wonderful years of marriage together.

Born in Nederland, TX, she was the daughter of Guy and Winnie Haynes. She is the sister of Guy Haynes Jr. (deceased ‘51), Beverly Haynes Bowman, Ronald Haynes (deceased ‘39)

Kenneth Haynes (wife, Betty Dugas Haynes), Sue Haynes Bardwell, and Michael Haynes (wife, Kathy Choate Haynes). She graduated from Nederland High School in 1961 where both she and Bootsie were members of the Nederland High School Homecoming Court. She went on to attend Port Arthur Business College and completed a business degree. She created a beautiful home for her husband Bootsie and their children, Monica “Moni” Duplant Hopper (husband, Brad Hopper) and Bret Duplant (wife, Carmel Ducote Duplant). She cooked, cleaned, and sewed beautiful quilts. Pat also enjoyed painting portraits of her children, as well as beautiful landscapes.

Enjoying walks on the Port Boliver Jetty and taking the boat out with friends and family, Pat treasured her time at the beach. Her neighbors were like family and she spent her summers preparing meals like fried fish from the day’s catch, mouthwatering barbecue crabs, and fried eggplants from her garden. Everyone was welcome to join and the conversations would go late into the night as all sat

around the table to pick the crab claws for use in her future dishes.

Pat Duplant lived a great life. She found joy in all she did; from traveling across the country with her husband, to being in her backyard gardening next to him. She took great pleasure in looking after God’s creations; finding peace in fostering stray animals and tending to the cucumbers and tomatoes she grew in her garden. She loved caring for her cat Milo and watching TV shows with him in her lap while she sat next to Bootsie. Her Wednesday nights were reserved for Quarter Quarters with her girlfriends and her Saturday mornings were marked off for antique sale shopping with the ladies. She spent Sundays with her brothers and sisters in Christ at First United Methodist Church.

With her simple southern charm and quick witted humor, she easily made friends with just about anyone who happened to cross her path. If one was to say they knew Pat Duplant, they would know that she lived to love her children and grandchildren. Never missing a recital performance or sporting event, Pat was well known in the fan section for her undying support of Catherine, Mary Beth, Garrett, Andrew, Maggie, Clare, and Holden. They always knew they could count on their Granny. She and Paw Paw never failed to be in the stands cheering them on and were always there at the end to give hugs and kisses, no matter what the outcome. She was proud of the family she created and never missed an opportunity to show how much she loved being part of it.
