AMBASSADORS FOR CIVIC ENGAGEMENTDESCRIPTION - A team of interdisciplinary graduate students assist a community partner with a large community-based project focusing on a community or policy issue.ELIGIBILITY - Graduate Students
BRIDGING THE GAPS INTERNSHIPDESCRIPTION - Graduate students from medicine, public health, nursing and pharmacy work in a paid, full time, 8-week summer community health internship program and participate in a weekly seminar. Students design projects that result in tangible products to remain with host sites working with vulnerable populations, and have community and faculty mentors.ELIGIBILITY - Graduate Students
BROWNE LEADERSHIP FELLOWSHIPDESCRIPTION - Interdisciplinary fellowship aimed at preparing students to be engaged civic leaders working for economic and social justice. Fellows are placed in one of four Pittsburgh-area communities under a community organization and engage in service and social change to build community capacity.
ELIGIBILITY - Freshman through Junior
COMMUNITY ASSISTANT PROGRAMDESCRIPTION - Community Assistants work on projects selected by community-based organizations in Homewood and the Hill District. The students’ projects enhance the organization’s capacity, match with students’ interests and educational goals, and provide the students with real-world experience. ELIGIBILITY - Rising Sophomore through rising Juniors
CONNECTIONS4HEALTH FELLOWSHIPDESCRIPTION - This program works within community health centers and other community organizations to
address the social health needs of underserved people by focusing on issues such as housing, food security, job training, and utility assistance. Fellows meet with people one-on-one to understand their social health needs, create an individualized action plan with referrals to relevant social agencies, and follow-up on a weekly basis.ELIGIBILITY - Freshman through Senior
ELSIE HILLMAN HONORS SCHOLARS PROGRAMDESCRIPTION -Students develop a community-based, civic project in collaboration with a community partner, and participate in a bi-weekly seminar that provides project development guidance and guided reflection.ELIGIBILITY - Any full-time undergraduate student, preference is given to juniors and seniors
INCLINE CONSULTING GROUPDESCRIPTION -Dedicated student consultants provide pro-bono consulting work to nonprofit organizations in the Pittsburgh community. Our work has the focus of improving operations, performance, and efficiency in our clients’ work and allows students to convert their mastery of topics in the classroom to real-world challenges.ELIGIBILITY - Undergraduate and Graduate Students
