53RD AVE. COMMUNITY PARK WEST CONCEPT 3: PATCHWORK QUILT

Inspired by the outlying agriculture and a patchwork of different people coming together as one, this concept is a grid of spaces and walkways that are interrupted by a sinuous, curving path, which offers a variety of experiences along its way. There is one large, fenced play area on the east side, which is half in and half out of the woods. Three shelters provide options for lunching, family parties, and getting out of the sun. The hangout areas have parkour features, bocce ball, trampolines, and art installations and the flex areas are open for things like food carts and cultural events. Here, the primary natural features are an experiential forest trail and a quiet gathering circle in the southwest corner with a large formal planting area with paths alongside it.
