History The factory has been in business for

20 years. They ran out of room so

they had to build a new place.

Using Math

They have to know how to cut and

weigh the cheese. They have to

count the number of boxes. They

need to count money.

They have to know the date of when

the cheese was made. They need to

read the directions for how to make

the cheese. They also need to know

the kinds of cheeses. They write down

the orders for cheese.

What If You Worked Here?

You would wear a special uniform. You

would have to wear hair nets so that

your hair doesn’t get into the cheese.

You would receive special training.

You would work in the cheese lab. You

would get to cut and wrap cheese.

You would put cheese out on display in

the store. You might give tours of the

store. You need to be nice to others.

Interesting Facts • Sells 60 different kinds of cheese

• Some cheese weighed 40 pounds

• Famous for their Guusto baked cheese

• 34 degrees in the warehouse

• They ship cheese all over the United

States and Canada.

• Our class sampled three kinds of cheese

(Cheddar, Colby-jack, and Mozzarella)

Services— help given by a person with

special training

Warehouse— a large building where

merchandise is stored

About the Project

The Cashton Elementary First Graders

visited many places in order to learn

about the goods and services our com-

munity provides to the people who live

here. A huge thanks to all of the busi-

nesses we contacted who graciously al-

lowed us to visit and learn. If you have
