Y|yà{ fâÇwtç Éy XtáàxÜ `tç DL? ECDL From the Pastor:
My Friends in the Lord Jesus, Easter and its fifty days of rejoicing is a celebration of the love of God for all people. The redeeming and saving graces of the resurrection of Jesus draws us into deeper union with the Lord. His divine presence is an abiding love with us and for us. “As I have loved you, so you also should love one another.
The love command of Jesus is not some pious platitude or emotional sentimentality. This command of the Lord Jesus comes during the Last Supper. The love command is exemplified truly in the Lord giving himself in his body and blood, not only sacramentally, but in his flesh and blood in the crucifixion.
The love command is the command of duty to care for the good of another person. It is more than even liking another. It is the command to recognize the other as a person created by God and redeemed in Christ. Therefore, caring for the person’s soul with prayer and guidance. It is also to desire salvation for whom ever, no matter who the other is or what the other has done. It also includes the actual looking out and attending to another’s material and emotional needs. It is a tall order, but one that is not to be taken lightly, or reduced to sentimentality.
The Easter season is one in which we reflect on empowerment. At its conclusion we celebrate the feast of strength, empowerment and mission. The Easter season concludes with the Solemnity of Pentecost. On that day every year we listen to the words of Jesus, the words which empower, strengthen and commission each one of us in the Church, “As the Father has sent me, so I send you…receive the Holy Spirit.”
But, for now, we reflect on our identity in the Lord, discipleship. “I give you a new commandment: love one another. As I have loved you, so you also should love one another. This is how all will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.” Fr. Ron

5th Sunday of Easter
“I give you a new commandment: love one another. As I have loved you, so you also should love one another."
(John 13:34) It is easy to love someone when they love you back. But it takes strength and courage to love someone when we feel unappreciated, used or feel our opinion doesn’t matter. It takes courage to “love my neighbor” when he may be someone I don’t like, someone I don’t know or someone that doesn’t look like me.
