peace. — James 3:18

There are two individuals who will be enrolled in the Catechumenate today -- Sunday--at St. Anthony, so I switched with Fr. Paul. Fr. Bill Cieslak, OFM

Cap from Chicago will preside and preach at our weekend Masses next weekend. He then will lead our Renewal September 27-30. Please make every effort to participate. Our future depends on it, i.e. on being renewed in grace to follow Jesus and to continue his mission through our parish ministries. We cannot give what we don’t have. Strengthening our faith and rekindling our zeal to share it will be assured through participation in this Renewal. Everyone is welcome! Please do the inviting! I expect you to say Yes to God, thus have resolve to overcome obstacles, the usual excuses, enduring some hardship because your faith – our parish – means a lot to you. I will be having a nasal surgery on Monday September 21st. Recovery is supposed to be aided by not talking or eating much for a week! Neither will be easy, I am told. No doubt, prayers will help. The Pastoral Region Plan draft is ready for review by each Pastoral Council. A presentation will be made at our upcoming Pastoral Council meeting this Tuesday September 22nd, 7:00 p.m. in the St. Francis Meeting Room. Before it goes to the Archbishop in January, parishioners of each parish will have a chance to review it as well.

Our parish is blessed with generous volunteers. We would like to recognize and thank the following: Nick Losekamp who changed ceiling light bulbs in the church.

Jeff Kramer who pressure washed the front entrance of our church.

All those who helped with the parish clean up on Saturday by trimming bushes, sweeping up debris, etc.: Laura Heitker, Len Weikert, Kim Douthit & Mary Mathers. Thanks to all who work so hard to keep our parish going and expenses down.

SM-SJ Four Grand Club

Our Four Grand Club is an easy and fun way to support our parish. The way it works is each week a $40 winner is pulled and at the Annual Turkey Dinner the 4—$1000 winners are pulled. So you have a chance each week to win $40 and also a chance to win one of the $1000 at the Turkey Dinner. The cost is one payment of $48 or two payments of $25 or you can pay $1 a week. The more members we have the more it helps our parish so we invite neighbors and friends to join also. Please consider being a member of our Four Grand Club and help our parish at the same time. There is a membership form inserted in the bulletin today. Thanks to all our loyal Four Grand members through the years!

FOOD FOR ALL

Thanks to all who have generously responded to the Pope Francis’ initiative Food for All.

Our Parish Vincent De Paul has been able to help families with children and/or d i sab i l i t i e s in our neighborhood. Thank you!

PAULA’S CORNER…

GREAT JOB SM-SJ!!!

You have sent a spiritual bouquet

to Pope Francis of

1034 cans of food and

207 letters in suppor t of children’s food programs in

three short weeks.

This past Sunday, we were privileged to feed a neighborhood family with 4 small children ages 2-7. Extreme medical expenses had left them without electricity for the past three months, and now finally without food or hope. Thanks to your great generosity, we were able to feed this family and work on resolving their situation with Duke Energy.

Keep up the great work SM-SJ!
