Please remember the family and friends of Lee Ruth
Krieg in your prayers on her recent passing. She was a
former member of Christ and friend to many of us. She
spent countless hours volunteering at Lutheran Social
Services, where she served as president of the local
board. In 2010, she joined the LSS/Upbring Board of
Directors and served in that capacity until her death. Lee
Ruth was also president of the Volunteer Network of the
Lutheran Home of West Texas and president of the
American Lutheran Church Women, and volunteered
with many other charitable organizations. Lee Ruth is
survived by two daughters, Andrea and Dana and
Dana's husband, Stephane Besson, and his three chil-
dren: Gabrielle, Tristan, and Avery. She was preceded
in death by her parents, as well as her husband, Dr.
Daniel Dan Krieg, who died in June of this year.

LUTHERAN STUDENT CENTER NEWS
The Texas Tech Lutheran Student Center, across the street from the Texas Tech campus,
would like to invite all incoming freshmen (and any other students) to come to our SOS
(Supper On Sunday). Area churches provide home-cooked meals on Sunday evening at
5:30. (Dorms do not provide meals on Sunday evenings).
At 6:30, a local pastor will be leading a Bible Study.
The Lutheran Student Center is a place where students can come and have a quiet, relax-
ing place to just hang out, study, or play games. There is always a stocked refrigerator
(waters and sodas). There is also a kitchen if students would want to come and cook. Our
address is 2615 19th Street, Lubbock, TX 79410. The e-mail address is
[email protected]. The phone number is 806-763-3644.
The Student Center is equipped with WIFI throughout the building. There is a ping-pong
table, foosball table, pool table, big screen TV with cable, and board games.

Almighty God, heavenly Father, You have blessed us with the joy and care of children. Give us calm strength and patient wisdom
that as they grow in years, we may teach them to love whatever is just and true and good, following the example of our Savior, Jesus
Christ, our Lord. Amen

YOUTH GROUP SERVICE PROJECT
Nine members of our wonderful youth group gave up a Saturday morning in July to stain
and seal Eddie Wilt's fence. For them we give thanks!
If you would like the youth to come help you around the house or yard, or if you have any
other small job, please call Jenny in the church office or Becky Meeks, our youth director.
So that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith—that you, being rooted
and grounded in love, may have strength to comprehend with all the saints what
is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ
that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.

SCHOOL SUPPLY DRIVE FOR OUR FOSTER CHILDREN:
It’s that time of year again! We are teaming again with Gloria Dei to gather
school supplies for our local foster children. A collection box will be placed in
the Narthex. Most office supply stores have a list of school supplies for all the
grades; also this year, the older children will need flash drives. For those who
would like to help with flash drives, we are suggesting that a check be made
payable to Upbring and indicate it is for Lubbock foster/school supply drive.
The office staff will purchase these flash drives and make them available to
our older foster children. Any extra monies will be used to purchase
backpacks. (Remember that Upbring is the new Lutheran Social Services of
the South.) Please give the checks to Mary Lee Franklin or Jenny in the church
office. Our drive will last through the first Sunday in August. Questions? Call
Mary Lee Franklin at 795-4445. Thank you for the support you so generously
give our local foster children!
There will be a meeting Sunday, August 30th, after
church for all parents of children, Pre-K to high
school. All suggestions, ideas, and comments for
Sunday School for the 2015-2016 school year will
be discussed.
Please call
