Memorial Bricks Make Great Gifts The Kalida Local School is getting ready to place another order for memorial bricks, in both the high school and ele-mentary buildings. These bricks make excellent gifts (Mothers’ Day & Father’s Day coming up) and are a great way to honor both the living and/or deceased! If you have-n’t had a chance to see the brick donor walls, stop in any-time to check them out. For more information, please see the school’s website (lower left under the announcements) or feel free to give us a call (419-532-3534). The next order will be placed on May 28!

Women of All Ages Banquet Do you believe in miracles? Bring your grandmothers, moth-ers, daughters, granddaughters, or sisters of the parish to the Altar Rosary “Women of All Ages Banquet.” You will hear the amazing story of how a mother and her son were in-volved in an eight person’s kidney exchange. May Crowing will begin at 6:00 p.m., on May 5, with the banquet to fol-low in church basement. There will be fellowship, door prizes and a craft for the young girls. From the Desk of Fr. Mark

Happy Easter, Last week was a wonderful celebration of God's love for us. Many faces of God's love were seen in our gath-erings. Everything from a servant-God who would wash others' feet, to a God who would share Himself through a sacred meal, was shown through our litur-gies. A community walk on Friday showed a God who would walk with us, even in our sinfulness and would open His arms on a cross to embrace us to wel-come us through and beyond death. With Holy Satur-day and Sunday, we saw the face of hope, in that even death has been conquered by the power of God's love for us. With God all things are possible. Our celebra-tions were full and lively. Thanks to so many who helped our communities show our appreciation for God's great love. In the next weeks we will see more examples of God's great love. This Sunday is Divine Mercy Sun-day. God's love is not the kind of love that condemns, but lifts up. If God lifts us up, so should we. This Sun-day is First Communion at St. John's and next Sunday is First Communion at St. Michael's. Our communities lift up our young children to the table of the Lord, where they will be nourished with the Lord himself. He is true food for life's journey, which will take us to our heavenly home. With all the excitement on the faces of our First Communion families, it is easy to behold the face of God. Throughout my life, I have always heard that faith is a gift. This Sunday is also known as “Doubting Tho-mas Sunday” because of his lack of faith. Let us lift each other up, especially our children, with a gift of faith so that they may encounter the living Lord. First Communion and Easter go well together. It is only by faith that either one makes sense. May God bless our parishes with a great gift of faith. Congratulations to all who are making their First Communion. Have a faith-filled week.

Fr. Mark

Beautiful Symbolism

Many people commented on how much they loved the decorations during Lent and, espe-cially at Easter, with all the butter-flies, flowering trees and pillar decorations, which adorned the church. It was like the whole world came alive in praise of the Risen

Lord. Thanks to the decorating committee and the ele-mentary religion students for helping to inspire a wonder-ful Easter spirit! As I looked through all the butterflies from the rear vestibule, it was as if the stained glass win-dows were extended into the body of the church. Just like Jesus’ resurrection, the symbolism of the caterpillar “dying” to become something greater, renewed in us the hope of eternal life and better things to come. Rebirth! Renew! Refresh! Resurrection! Fr. Mark
