past perfect and its usage:

1) To express an activity that was complete before another activity or time in the past

Sam arrived at 10:00. Ann left at 9:30.•In other words, Ann had already left when sam arrived.

Mary had read the book before she watched a film.

Affirmative statement

To make an Affirmative past perfect statement, simply follow this pattern:

Subject+had+Past participle

Regular verbs:

I/you/he/she/it/we/they had played hockey.

Irregular Verbs:

I/you/he/she/it/we/they had gone home.

Negative statement

To make a negative past perfect statement, simply follow the following

pattern:

Subject+had+not+Past participle

Regular verb:

•I/you/he/she/it/we/they had not played hockey.

Irregular Verb:•I/you/he/she/it/we/they had not gone home.

To make a question in the past perfect, simply follow the following pattern:

Had+subject+Past participle

Regular verb:
