Preparing for Passover

Flesh vs Spirit

Last time, a couple of charts of review, we went through the Passover Readiness and one of the

areas that we looked at was the flesh versus the Spirit and we went in depth to some degree

into Galatians chapter 5 the works of the flesh versus the works of the Spirit. We elaborated on

what I call the list which would be the list of the evil things and the list of the good things. Also

we started looking at a couple of specific words that have to do with testing, approving or

trying ourselves, or YHWH trying us.

We looked at Hebrew and Greek versions of the word examine or test. It turns out that there

are a couple of Greek words, and that’s where we left off. We looked at these scriptures:

Rom 12:1-3 – prove what is good

1 Co 11:23–32 – let a man examine himself

Gal 6:3-5 – prove your own work

Eph 5:9-11 – proving what is acceptable

Php 1:9-11 – approve that which is excellent and discerning that which is excellent

Personal Preparation

Examine Yourself

G3985 = to test, scrutinize, discipline

That gets us to this session. The different Greek word is G3985= to test, scrutinize, discipline

and it is similar to the meaning of the previous one. It means to test, to scrutinize and to

discipline. After our study last time we went into the scripture in 2 Corinthians 13. We are

going to examine a couple of examples of this Greek word of testing which is G3985.

2Co 13:4 For though he was crucified through weakness, yet he liveth by the power of

YHWH. For we also are weak in him, but we shall live with him by the power of YHWH

toward you.

2Co 13:5 Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know

ye not your own selves, how that Yahushua Messiah is in you, except ye be reprobates?

2Co 13:6 But I trust that ye shall know that we are not reprobates.

2Co 13:7 Now I pray to YHWH that ye do no evil; not that we should appear approved,

but that ye should do that which is honest, though we be as reprobates.

This is the scripture that we talked about last time in our round table discussion, which was

examining yourself whether you are in the faith. Taking a look at a couple of words, the first is

“For we also are weak in him,” Being weak in him on our own merit is what this is getting at.

Let’s take a look at the word weak. In Strong’s version of this, it means to be feeble, diseased

or sick we are weak in the flesh, all on our own merit. “But we shall live with him by the power

of YHWH toward you.” The power means the force; this is talking about YHWH’s Spirit, the

power of YHWH toward us. We are focusing on the word G3985 “piradzo” it means to test,

endeavor, scrutinize, entice, discipline, prove or even temp in some connotations.

Also this scripture has the other Greek word that we were focusing on last time which was

G1381. Recall that we ran through a series of scriptures and ended up in Philippians. It means

to test, examine, discern, prove and try. There are two separate Greek words, but similar in

meaning and it turns out in 2Corinthians 13 that both words are used. The point of it is to look

inside, to test ourselves whether we be in the Faith. And prove your own selves, Know ye not

your own selves, how that Messiah is in you, except (unless) ye be reprobates? The word

reprobates means unapproved.

This time of the year is looking inside ourselves so that we are approved. We want to be

approved, not disapproved.

1Th 3:5 For this cause, when I could no longer forbear, I sent to know your faith, lest by

some means the tempter have tempted you, and our labour be in vain.

Here is the same word used twice in a row. The tester has tested you so who is that? Of course

it’s the evil one Satan. It’s easy to be tested and tempted by him, he puts those stumbling

blocks around every corner.

Heb 2:17 Wherefore in all things it behoved him to be made like unto his brethren, that

he might be a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to YHWH, to make

reconciliation for the sins of the people.

Heb 2:18 For in that he himself hath suffered being tempted, he is able to succour them

that are tempted.

Yahushua helps us and he’s the one that succors us that are tempted, and that would be you

and me, we are all tempted in one way or another by all kinds of various worldly opportunities

that the tempter would like to present to us. Yahushua aids us. He aids those that are tested

Page 3: PassoverReadinessV2 Session 2 Checklist, We Are the Temple ... · Passover Readiness Session 2 1 PassoverReadinessV2 Session 2 Checklist, We Are the Temple, 6 days before Passover

Passover Readiness Session 2 3

so as we think about how we are tested, we need to keep in mind we are focusing on

examining ourselves. How are we tested and are we passing or are we failing? Yes, sometimes

we fail. That doesn’t stop us, we don’t throw in the towel, but get right back up and pray. We

pray and move forward and look for the next opportunity to be tested. It never ends.

In my experience, and I know there are those that have been in the faith for a long time the

testing never ends, you think that you’ve gotten to a good plateau of spiritual connection and

the next day, out of the clear blue, something will happen. We just have to be prepared for

that, it is part of the refining process, how is gold or silver or any precious metal made? It’s put

in a pot, cooked, heated up to get the dross off the top and then the dross is thrown out. It’s

under pressure, but particularly under heat. How are diamonds made? Diamonds are made

from significant pressure, carbon that comes from coal.

Jas 1:12 Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall

receive the crown of life, which YHWH hath promised to them that love him.

Jas 1:13 Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of YHWH: for YHWH cannot

be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man:

Jas 1:14 But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed.

Here are the same Greek words; I think both of them are included in these scriptures. Testing,

scrutinizing, trying and so forth, it looks like three times in a couple of verses. Notice how the

temptation happens. We are tempted and enticed when we are drawn away on our own lust.

That bird of lust that flies over your head wants you to grab onto it and fondle this bird until we

are tempted and then we actually sin as a result. It’s good to know the process of what

happens because Satan puts these wave lengths out that we can hear and the easiest way to

get rid of the temptation is when it first occurs. If you let it reside in your inner core, in your

soul, it tends to fester and develop and then you start focusing on it. We are then drawn away

on our own lust and enticed. That’s what James is telling us. It’s the process of how our human

nature in fact works.

Let’s take a look at a performance review.

Personal Preparation

Performance Review

If YHWH sat down across the table with us and said let’s take a look at how you are doing.

What would he say about how we are doing? What would our performance review consist of?

Would it be a whole bunch of correction? Or would he say it is a job well done faithful servant.

Obviously that’s what we want to get to, well done good and faithful servant.

Page 4: PassoverReadinessV2 Session 2 Checklist, We Are the Temple ... · Passover Readiness Session 2 1 PassoverReadinessV2 Session 2 Checklist, We Are the Temple, 6 days before Passover

Passover Readiness Session 2 4

A few objectives that we all should have in our performance plan the first is in Romans chapter

13.

Rom 13:7 Render therefore to all their dues: tribute to whom tribute is due; custom to

whom custom; fear to whom fear; honour to whom honour.

Rom 13:8 Owe no man any thing, but to love one another: for he that loveth another

hath fulfilled the law.

Rom 13:9 For this, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not kill, Thou shalt not

steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, Thou shalt not covet; and if there be any other

commandment, it is briefly comprehended in this saying, namely, Thou shalt love thy

neighbour as thyself.

Rom 13:10 Love worketh no ill to his neighbour: therefore love is the fulfilling of the

law.

Rom 13:11 And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep:

for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed.

This is a key item in all of our performance plans. Anyone that has worked in a business

environment most companies typically have performance plans for their employees. They say

here is what your job is and here is what we expect of you and here are the benchmarks that

we will measure your success on. I would say that this is one of the top priorities in our

performance plan. How are we doing? He that loves another has fulfilled the law. If we are

doing that, we have fulfilled the law. Of course in the covenants study we are about to get into

the section of how that applies. Loving one another is a top priority for us. How do we

measure up in that category? It’s a rhetorical sort of a question, how is YHWH going to rate you

on this main item in your performance plan. Loving another and that shows how we are

fulfilling the law.

1Co 5:7 Purge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, as ye are

unleavened. For even Yahushua our passover is sacrificed for us:

1Co 5:8 Therefore let us keep the feast, not with old leaven, neither with the leaven of

malice and wickedness; but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.

Obviously this applies to all times of the year, not just a week or two before the Feast of

Unleavened Bread, but we are to get out that old leaven. That’s obviously one of the priorities

in this time of year in examining ourselves. How are we doing with that in our performance

plan? Typically in performance plans have a rating scale, so sometimes they are one, two,

three, and sometimes they are one to ten, or A through F. In a performance plan what would

Page 5: PassoverReadinessV2 Session 2 Checklist, We Are the Temple ... · Passover Readiness Session 2 1 PassoverReadinessV2 Session 2 Checklist, We Are the Temple, 6 days before Passover

Passover Readiness Session 2 5

your rating be in getting out the old leaven? Would you be a far exceeds? In other words, have

you done a good job? Or would you be just barely meeting the requirements? Maybe you

would have an unsatisfactory rating.

A couple of key items are mentioned that go along with the rating of this particular item, malice

and wickedness. What do they mean? Malice means badness, depravity, malignity, naughty,

wickedness. None of these are favorable attributes. Oftentimes malice is the result of thinking

the worst of somebody. Maybe you have a neighbor or a friend, or so much more a brother or

sister, and you may think that they are going to fail in their attempt or in their calling. YHWH

doesn’t want any of us to fail; we don’t want to have any malice or malignity against anyone

particularly our brothers and sisters. We want to pray for our brothers and sisters that they will

be successful and that they would overcome, and that we will all overcome.

Malice is an interesting word to get your arms around and be aware that a part of this old

leaven is malice that we in fact have in our heart. Malice for one another, and wickedness, also

means depravity and malice so these words are somewhat interchangeable. They are two

different Greek words, but somewhat interchangeable in their context.

Plots, wickedness, in people that plot things or try to make things happen according to their

own agenda and fundamentally sin, wickedness and sin go hand in hand. These are the items

that make up getting the old leaven out. It’s a good area to put some attention on when this

time of the year comes. There are a couple of main items of leaven in this particular scripture

above and they are malice and wickedness. In getting the old leaven out, you replace it with

the unleavened bread of sincerity.

Sincerity means clearness again. Clear, pure clean and truth, the truth is the truth. In Hebrew,

how do you say truth? It’s truth. The interesting thing about this is there are two items that we

want to have and they are sincerity and truth. Two items that we don’t want are malice and

malignity.

2Ti 2:20 But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of

wood and of earth; and some to honour, and some to dishonour.

2Ti 2:21 If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour,

sanctified, and meet for the master's use, and prepared unto every good work.

2Ti 2:22 Flee also youthful lusts: but follow righteousness, faith, charity, peace, with

them that call on YHWH out of a pure heart.

All different types of material in this great house, some things that are honorable and some

things dishonorable, so how does our performance plan stack up? How does YHWH rate us, are

Page 6: PassoverReadinessV2 Session 2 Checklist, We Are the Temple ... · Passover Readiness Session 2 1 PassoverReadinessV2 Session 2 Checklist, We Are the Temple, 6 days before Passover

Passover Readiness Session 2 6

we focusing on those things honorable areas, or do we still have some dishonorable areas?

Purge ourselves from these and be unto honor, be sanctified and meet, be a tool for the

Master’s use and prepared unto every good work. Move ahead, step by step with YHWH’s sprit

of truth guiding.

1Jn 2:1 My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man

sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Yahushua the righteous:

1Jn 2:2 And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins

of the whole world.

1Jn 2:3 And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments.

1Jn 2:4 He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the

truth is not in him.

1Jn 2:5 But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of YHWH perfected: hereby

know we that we are in him.

1Jn 2:6 He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he

walked.

When we read through these scriptures, they remind me of our character that needs to be in

singleness of purpose, we’ve talked about this several times in the last month or so. We can’t

be on the fence, we can’t be presenting one presentation to our brothers and sisters when we

meet on the Sabbath, and then, leading a life of sin or depravity or some type of wickedness

when we aren’t with our brothers and sisters on the Sabbath.

We must have singleness of purpose. The end result is living a life of hypocrisy. Part of our

performance plan is how well are we doing that? We certainly are not tricking YHWH because

YHWH knows what we do all the time. He knows what is on our mind. We must be of

singleness and have the clarity of purpose without hypocrisy. He is our propitiation for our sins.

Propitiation is kind of King James term and it means covering. We see it in a couple of places in

John. It’s an atonement, it’s like the lid on the Ark, he is the covering for our sins. There two

occurrences of this and they are both in 1 John 2:2 and 1 John 4:10. Same word used.

1Jn 4:10 Herein is love, not that we loved YHWH, but that he loved us, and sent his Son

to be the propitiation ( or atonement) for our sins.

Passover Readiness Session 2 7

It’s an interesting word that is only used twice in this particular scripture. With all of this in

mind, here is a check list that we can actually get our arms around that you maybe hadn’t

thought about. As I was putting this together, I started thinking about these items.

Forgiveness

A time of friendship

A time of forgiveness and reconciliation

A time to forgive

Forgiveness cancels debt.

One of the items for Passover is forgiveness and reconciliation, and we think of that as from

YHWH to us. We want to be reconciled to YHWH and we want to be forgiven by YHWH. The

part of the Passover that maybe we haven’t thought about is how important is it between our

brothers and sisters. Or for that matter our neighbors or our work associates.

Passover in terms of forgiveness is something that we as believers want to have for one

another. We forgive people for things that they do, and they may be an offence to us in one

way or another. Maybe it’s something they actually did and we say well we know Yahushua

told us to turn the other cheek and if somebody calls you to go one mile go two. Well, I think

that’s a reasonable application but we do need to forgive our brothers and sisters for things

that they have done. I know we’ve all been in that situation and we do forgive.

Passover is a time for friendship and forgiveness as well as reconciliation. Forgiveness is

something we do when somebody offends us or causes some sin against us. This is a time to

forgive, and when we forgive somebody, it actually cancels the debt. So if somebody sinned

against you or somehow offended you, you forgive them and you forget it. It cancels the debt

between you. But there’s another part of this which is the reconciliation part that can only

happen when the person that caused the offense repents and changes. There can’t be true

reconciliation with two parties until there is repentance on the part of the offender.

The person that was offended can forgive, but that doesn’t cause reconciliation. Reconciliation

is a result of when the party that was the offender actually repents and changes. Without

repentance there really can be no true reconciliation. There can be forgiveness, but there can’t

be reconciliation. Without repentance there isn’t unity. We have forgiven people for what

they have said or done, but there isn’t unity because both parties aren’t in alignment. We want

to honor one another with this gift of reconciliation.

If you have offended someone, you need to be aware of it, and often times we are. I know

from personal experience what happens when I did or said something that offended some one

and I let time go by. I think that letting time go by makes the process heal. In fact, I never

really did tell that person that I’m sorry. When I tell that person I’m sorry, that is when true

Page 8: PassoverReadinessV2 Session 2 Checklist, We Are the Temple ... · Passover Readiness Session 2 1 PassoverReadinessV2 Session 2 Checklist, We Are the Temple, 6 days before Passover

Passover Readiness Session 2 8

reconciliation happens. It’s not the time that goes by that causes reconciliation, it’s the time

that goes by, and then eventually when I get to the point and humble myself so say that I am

sorry for what I did or said even though it may have been two or three years ago. You have to

think about this in your own life situation.

We have probably all had people that we have had some difficulty with and sometimes the

difficulty was that someone did something to us, but other times the difficulty was when we did

something to someone else. We let our mouth flap when we should have had it be trapped

and then said something we shouldn’t have. These are matters of opportunities for

reconciliation. This being the time of Passover, a question I’m asking that in this checklist do

you have any of these situations in your life? There are two sides of it, one is that if you have

been offended have you truly forgiven the other person. You can’t make the other person

come to you and say they are sorry. All you can do is say I forgive you. That cancels the debt

effectively. Pray for the other person that they are forgiven as well.

If you have been on the other side of this, and have caused the transgression, it is your

responsibility and incumbent on you to actually make reconciliation. The only way you can do it

is by going to the person and saying you are sorry. Perhaps you no longer see the person but

we probably all have people that live close by and maybe it’s our spouse or our kids or some

work associate. It’s somebody that we can go to this Passover season and say I’m sorry about

the situation that happened. That’s the way that forgiveness and reconciliation works.

With that in mind, here are a few items that we might want to consider:

If you hold a grudge, stop. Grudges are things that oftentimes get buried. Resolve the situation

and perhaps you can’t talk to the person anymore, but you can ask for their forgiveness and

forgive them on your own.

If you owe somebody money, pay it. This is a common problem that if I borrowed a hundred

dollars from you and it was two years ago and I haven’t repaid you. I’d better go repay that

person. If I owe you money and haven’t paid, I need to go resolve that. I need to pay the debt

that I have incurred. You can’t just sweep that under the rug. It could go back several years,

you ask, they paid, and it’s time to make it right.

This list could go on and on but I’m just trying to give ideas or food for thought.

If you gossip, cease. Some people gossip a lot so if you do, stop talking about others behind

their back. A good principle is that if the other person isn’t available then don’t say anything

about them. This is the court proceeding, if you don’t have an opportunity for your defense,

then the prosecution doesn’t have a case to be saying anything. If you gossip, cease.

Page 9: PassoverReadinessV2 Session 2 Checklist, We Are the Temple ... · Passover Readiness Session 2 1 PassoverReadinessV2 Session 2 Checklist, We Are the Temple, 6 days before Passover

Passover Readiness Session 2 9

If you lust, quit. So if you know if you have lust in your heart and mind that the common lust

item that probably comes to mind is pornography but it’s not limited to that. You can lust after

all kinds of different physical things that we live in this world today. Someone’s spouse, cars,

vacations, a better job, promotion of a job, money and on and on the list can go. You are the

one who knows if you have lust in your heart. If you don’t, ask YHWH and he will show you if

there is any lust. It’s a good time and opportunity to put it behind you and quit.

If you are lacking love for your brother, fix it. We’ve talked about lacking love for our brothers

and sisters in 1 John 13:34. They will know who my disciples are if they show love one to

another. Are we lacking love between our brothers, and if we find we are, fix it. I think this is

an area that we all have some responsibility in. There is a lack of unity in the assemblies of

YHWH. The unity that’s lacking is largely because of doctrinal differences and covenant

understanding differences. It was the reason I tackled the project to look at the Old and New

Covenant. Largely, the differences on what people think the recipe is for salvation is what this

is about when it comes between brothers.

There are items like the calendar for example, we are close to Passover and there are a number

of different recipes of the day to keep Passover and there are probably a dozen different

recipes on how to keep the Passover itself. Do you have a big meal or not? What is the recipe

for keeping the Passover memorial service itself? If you are lacking love between your brothers

and sisters, and have that in your heart, now is a good time to fix it.

If you owe someone an apology, apologize. That should be an easy one. Dial them up on the

phone or go see them, perhaps it’s your neighbor. It goes along with the grudge at the top. If

you owe someone an apology, this is a good time to apologize. Keep in mind where we are

coming from, forgiveness and reconciliation. We want YHWH to forgive us and we want to be

reconciled to him, so yes that is paramount but between the people we live around, our

brothers and sisters or our work associates, we need to have the same attributes of forgiveness

and reconciliation.

If you have addictions, overcome. Salvation is on the line and an addiction separates us from

YHWH and any addiction is going to eventually going to cost us our salvation and eternity is a

long time to miss out on. Linda and I have in a joking way, mentioned to our unbelieving kids

who have told us that they don’t believe any of “that stuff” that we talk about and our

comment to them sometimes is “We’re sure going miss you because you are going to miss out

on eternity. Eternity is a long time and we are not going to able to see you. This same idea

perhaps goes along with addictions and there are obviously easy ones that a person can talk

about. Alcohol is an addiction that has crippled our country, and drugs both legal and illegal

drugs, smoking is another one. On and on the list will go and we must overcome if we have

addictions in our life. Probably all of us to one degree or another have had some type of

Page 10: PassoverReadinessV2 Session 2 Checklist, We Are the Temple ... · Passover Readiness Session 2 1 PassoverReadinessV2 Session 2 Checklist, We Are the Temple, 6 days before Passover

Passover Readiness Session 2 10

addiction, either currently or in our past. YHWH knows what’s in your heart, and knows how to

help you. His Spirit will guide us on how to overcome any addictions that we have. It’s a must

do.

If you haven’t been baptized in Yahushua, make it your number one priority. It’s a salvation

item that’s part of the process, and part of our manifestation that we in fact are committed to

Him.

This check list is something that you can think of on your own and you certainly could add items

to it. It’s a good time of the year to make a checklist and ask what the prerequisites are before

we have Passover. There are many calendar systems on when Passover is kept and that isn’t

the point, the point is that we are keeping Passover and we want to be prepared. We have

seven days and counting down, we don’t want to show up being unprepared. We don’t want to

be showing up at Passover and praying 15 minutes before we go to a service or undertake the

memorial itself. Pray that YHWH forgives us for the whole past year. Yes, we want to do that

too, but, we want to prepare ahead of time. That ahead of time is right now.

1 Co 5:8 Therefore let us keep the feast, not with old leaven, neither with the leaven of

malice and wickedness G4189 =depravity (corrupt practice); but with the unleavened bread of

sincerity and truth.

The last part of this session is about the Temple of YHWH

Temple of YHWH

If you will recall, how we started with the Temple practice in Hezekiah’s time had become so

corrupted that the Temple had become dysfunctional and non-operational. Hezekiah came

along as a reformer and put it back in order and started the Passover, although it was one

month later. He started the Passover around 720 BCE and Hezekiah put the operation back

together. What he did was, fix the corruption that had preceded him. The evil kings, Ahaz

preceded Hezekiah, had caused the Temple to go into dysfunction. Any dysfunction that we

have in the Temple of YHWH that’s residing in us obviously needs to be put away because we

are now the Temple of YHWH. All of the things that we are talking about are relating to us

because the Temple of YHWH is within us.

1Co 3:16 Know ye not that ye are the temple of YHWH, and that the Spirit of YHWH

dwelleth in you?

1Co 3:17 If any man defile the temple of YHWH, him shall YHWH destroy; for the temple

of YHWH is holy, which temple ye are.

Page 11: PassoverReadinessV2 Session 2 Checklist, We Are the Temple ... · Passover Readiness Session 2 1 PassoverReadinessV2 Session 2 Checklist, We Are the Temple, 6 days before Passover

Passover Readiness Session 2 11

Obviously this is clear that we are the Temple now and the Spirit of YHWH dwells within us. If

you think about that, think about Solomon’s Temple and then about the second Temple that

was raised up in the time of Zerubbabel and Ezra and Nehemiah. These huge edifices that were

the Temple of YHWH are where his Spirit was; those two versions of the Temple are gone. We

are it. That entire huge structure and edifice with billions of dollars of gold have been replaced

and we are the replacement. We are the Temple of YHWH and YHWH’s Spirit dwells in us. It’s

remarkable that the change has been made.

1Co 6:19 What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit which is in

you, which ye have of YHWH, and ye are not your own?

1Co 6:20 For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify YHWH in your body, and in

your spirit, which are YHWH's.

This is another example that our body is the Temple and we don’t want to pollute the Temple

of YHWH. We see the examples of the pollution of the Temple of YHWH and what did Hezekiah

have to do? He had to go purge it all, go through a cleansing process for the whole

building/buildings before they could start sacrificing Passover lambs for that time of the year.

We are now the Temple and we don’t want to have anything that is corrupt in YHWH’s Temple

that is within us. Any kind of sin, habit, addictions or malice that is within our character, so this

is significant that we want to purge the Temple of these old patterns and sins in our life. Our

body is now the Temple.

2Co 6:16 And what agreement hath the temple of YHWH with idols? for ye are the

temple of the living Elohim; as YHWH hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them;

and I will be their Elohim, and they shall be my people.

2Co 6:17 Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Master,

and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you,

2Co 6:18 And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the

Master Almighty.

Don’t touch the unclean thing. Keep away from those things that are unclean. Again, this time

of the year is a perfect opportunity to purge ourselves and eliminate those things. Throw them

out. Hezekiah threw out all of the pagan/Baal sacrificial items into the Valley of Kedron. That

was the garbage dump. We want to do the same things, and throw out all those things that

don’t belong in the Temple of YHWH and throw them into the garbage. It’s notable that we are

the Temple of the living YHWH. This ought to be an impact to know this. It’s not that we see it

in one place we see it in multiple places that we are the Temple of YHWH.

Passover Readiness Session 2 12

Eph 2:19 Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellowcitizens with

the saints, and of the household of YHWH;

Eph 2:20 And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Yahushua

Messiah himself being the chief corner stone;

Eph 2:21 In whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto an holy temple in

the Messiah:

Eph 2:22 In whom ye also are builded together for an habitation of YHWH through the

Spirit.

We are building separate Temples where YHWH’s Spirit dwells but we are building together.

Fitly framed, so take a look at fitly framed that is found in verse 21, “fitly framed together” and

it means to render close jointed together, organized compactly, so if you are building

something, this has some meaning if you are constructing a new building such as a barn, garage

or house, you want it to joined together properly and to be organized compactly. When we do

construction at our place, since we weren’t the original owners and we tear walls out you see

the sins of the original builders. It’s interesting to us to see the sins of the original builders

because they scab 2x4s on places that once it’s covered up you don’t see that it’s a scab. In

some cases that’s exactly what is done. Most of the time, when things are scabbed together it’s

because people are in a hurry. Sometimes we realize though it’s necessary because it was the

most expedient alternative. Scabbing things together in a building project is usually the result

of a rush or pressure from some boss to get the job done and to get it done on time and within

budget. The company doesn’t’ want to spend any money for additional 2X4’s that weren’t in

the original plan. Our building, the Temple that dwells in us is to be fitly framed together,

joined closely together and organized compactly.

Only One Name

A couple of other thoughts on this subject as we complete it and that is that we know there is

only one name by which we may be saved. I’ve taken this particular quote from the Message

Bible which sometimes I use and it has an interesting twist to it.

Yahushua is the stone you masons threw out, which is now the cornerstone. Salvation

comes no other way, no other name has been or will be given to us by which we can be

saved, only this one. (Act 4:11-12 MSG)

There isn’t a trinity of names, there’s only one name whereby we can be saved. That name is

Yahushua Messiah. We see that clearly in the scriptures so as we go into this season we know

that He is our salvation. We also see the prophecy of this one name in hundreds of places in

Page 13: PassoverReadinessV2 Session 2 Checklist, We Are the Temple ... · Passover Readiness Session 2 1 PassoverReadinessV2 Session 2 Checklist, We Are the Temple, 6 days before Passover

Passover Readiness Session 2 13

the Old Testament. As we have studied in the covenants study, the term the law and the

prophets points to Yahushua means it’s not the law that’s being focused on, it Yahushua. He is

that one name that Isaiah is talking about. Isaiah wrote back in time of Hezekiah which was

around 720 BCE. Isaiah was contemporary with and it appears when reading Isaiah that they

knew each other.

He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he is brought as a

lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he openeth not his

mouth. He was taken from prison and from judgment: and who shall declare his

generation? (Does anybody care? Yes there are a few of us that care) for he was cut off

out of the land of the living: for the transgression of my people was he stricken. And he

made his grave with the wicked, and with the rich in his death; because he had done no

violence, neither was any deceit in his mouth. Yet it pleased YHWH to bruise him; he hath

put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed,

he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of YHWH shall prosper in his hand. He shall

see of the travail of his soul, and shall be satisfied: by his knowledge shall my righteous

servant justify many; for he shall bear their iniquities. Therefore will I divide him a

portion with the great, and he shall divide the spoil with the strong; because he hath

poured out his soul unto death: and he was numbered with the transgressors; and he

bare the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors. (Isa 53:7-12 KJV)

He has interceded, the transgressors are the rebels, and that would be me and you. He

interceded for us, praise YHWH for doing that and making this possible. It’s only one name, so

this is the time of year when we can recommit our lives, worship, reverence and our

understanding to that one name Yahushua whereby we can be saved.

This has been about Examining Yourself

For as often as ye eat this bread and drink this cup, ye do shew the Master’s death till he

come. Wherefore whosoever shall eat this bread, and drink this cup of the Master,

unworthily G371=irreverently, unfit, (a key statement) shall be guilty of the body and blood of

the Master. But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of that bread, and drink

of that cup. (1Co 11:26-28)

Examine Me!

As I’ve commented along the way, that this isn’t just for you, this is for me too. A few years

ago, probably 5 or 6 years ago when this first had its beginning, I thought of this being about

me and Linda, but it’s evolved of course. It reminds me of my aunt and uncle. My uncle and I

have joked about this before so I’m not talking about him behind his back. He would get a kick

out of me telling the story.

Page 14: PassoverReadinessV2 Session 2 Checklist, We Are the Temple ... · Passover Readiness Session 2 1 PassoverReadinessV2 Session 2 Checklist, We Are the Temple, 6 days before Passover

Passover Readiness Session 2 14

My Uncle Bob, who is now in his 90’s was married to a lady whose name was Betty. Betty has

since died. Uncle Bob and Aunt Betty had made a couple of trips to see my wife around 2008 or

so. They spent significant amount of time with us when they visited. Uncle Bob and Aunt Betty

are good Catholic people and out habit over the last number of years that when the Sabbath

day comes we have a day of rest. Uncle Bob and Aunt Betty knew that about us. We would

have a Bible study and they enjoyed being a part of that. This one particular Sabbath, Linda and

I and Uncle Bob and Aunt Betty all sat down for a Bible Study. We were talking about 1st John

and showing love to one another and also how we have to keep the Commandments. If we

don’t keep His Commandments we are fundamentally sinners. I remember making the

comment that I’m a sinner and working on overcoming and getting ourselves clean and pure. I

asked Linda and she said she was a sinner also. I asked Uncle Bob if he was a sinner. Uncle Bob

said he had been a sinner for a long. So then I went to Aunt Betty to ask her, she turned to me

and said, I’m not a sinner but he is, pointing to Uncle Bob. It reminded me when I was putting

this together that we are all examining our self. It’s not the next guy. I’m okay, but he’s not

over here and that was Aunt Betty’s testimony. We got a good laugh out of it but it reminded

me when this presentation came up to examine myself.

Search me, O YHWH, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts: And see if

there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting. (Psa 139:23-24)

That’s my prayer, show me my Father. We ask YHWH to show us gently and give us the

opportunity to make the correction. We have a couple of choices, we can make these required

corrections voluntarily, or we can wait for the weight of the burden of the sin to crush us. Then

we will have a crisis that we have to deal with. Search me and know my heart and my thoughts.

Help me to overcome and find the right way.

6 Days Before Yahushua’s Passover

Calendar Alternatives At Bethany

Passover – The 14th of Abib

This next session about the Passover is going to focus on when it starts in John chapter 12

where it says 6 days before the Passover Yahushua was in Bethany at Lazarus’s house and we

are going to read all of that at different times. I’ll start with that study this time.

I have mentioned that there are calendar alternatives. If you are out and about looking and

listening to other broadcasts on the Passover, the calendar alternative comes in two ways, it

comes up with the actual year of Yahushua’s crucifixion and it also comes up with the actual

day of the week of Yahushua’s crucifixion. We will take a look at each of those as we get into

the 6 days before the Passover. The calendar fits in that presentation scheme. We’ll look at

what happened at Bethany. It’s an interesting series of events that you can pretty easily make

Page 15: PassoverReadinessV2 Session 2 Checklist, We Are the Temple ... · Passover Readiness Session 2 1 PassoverReadinessV2 Session 2 Checklist, We Are the Temple, 6 days before Passover

Passover Readiness Session 2 15

a timeline out of and see where Yahushua was and what he did and when was the triumphal

entry, and when did he go into the Temple? He threw the money changers out for a second

time and he had a lot of discourse with the scribes and Pharisees. The Olivet Prophecy was

given at the end of that and on top of that there was this event of a dinner with Lazarus,

Martha, Mary and Yahushua and the other disciples.

As we go into the Passover I will do a series of presentations on the correct days.

Agenda

Passover is about Redemption

Part 1 – Redemption by faith, 430 years

Part 2 – The Exodus from Egypt

Part 3 – Historical Passovers

Part 4 – 6 Days Before Yahushua’s Passover

Part 5 – Yahushua’s Passover

First Day of Unleavened Bread is about Deliverance and Liberty

Walking in Faith – Jas 2:17-18

Last Day of Unleavened Bread is about Hope and Salvation

Becoming sanctified

This time we will focus on Part 4 – 6 days before Yahushua’s Passover. We will get to parts 1,2

and 3 during the Days of Unleavened bread. Even though it’s out of order on the naming

sequence, but none of these were dependent on the previous part. Unlike the covenants study

we have been doing. In that study it was necessary to study them in sequence.

YHWH’s plan of salvation fall into a couple of major categories. The Spring Holy Days and the

Fall Holy Days.

Holy Days reveal YHWH’s plan of salvation

Spring Holy Days – were fulfilled during Yahushua’s first coming and have been largely fulfilled

during Yahushua’s first coming. Yes, we have some items about Pentecost, or Shavuot that are

yet to unfold. But largely, the first fruit, that being Yahushua himself, that wave sheaf offering

has been fulfilled. The coming of the 50 days later of Shavuot and the giving of the law in the

Old Testament and the giving of the New Covenant in the New Testament along with YHWH’s

Spirit that was fulfilled there at Pentecost in Jerusalem have been fulfilled and by contrast, the

Fall Holy Days starting with Trumpets, Atonement, and then Feast of Tabernacles and the Last

Great Day are all about the future, Yahushua’s second coming.

Page 16: PassoverReadinessV2 Session 2 Checklist, We Are the Temple ... · Passover Readiness Session 2 1 PassoverReadinessV2 Session 2 Checklist, We Are the Temple, 6 days before Passover

Passover Readiness Session 2 16

YHWH’s plan is really amazing and it has unfolded by looking into His Holy Days. The

springtime, as we have talked about has Passover which is technically not a Holy Day but is a

significant memorial service. Then there are two Holy days that are mentioned, the First and

Last Days of Unleavened Bread.

Passover is about Redemption –

(H6453 = Pesach+ omission, exemption) I should mention by the way “Passover” that is so

common in our spiritual vernacular is actually a coined word from William Tyndale. Tyndale

was a reformer in the 15th century just after Martin Luther. He came up with several words that

we use commonly today that you may or may not be aware of. One of them is Passover. He is

the one that coined that word. We see in the scriptures, and we will read this shortly that the

death angel passed over those that had the blood on their doorposts. This word Passover in all

cases, comes from the Hebrew word Pesach.

A couple of more words Tyndale has coined is scapegoat. When we get to Atonement, we’ll be

talking about this word scapegoat. Another one is the mercy seat. The mercy seat is the lid of

the Ark. Tyndale was the one that came up with the idea that it’s a mercy seat or mercy chair.

The fact is there is no chair, there are 2 Cherubim. That is as close to a chair that we find about

the lid. Interestingly enough, I don’t believe I’ve mentioned this, but if you use the King James

Translation you will see in four to six places, just a small number in the early part of the Old

Testament the word Jehovah instead of the Lord. Of course all of this goes back to the King

James translators, the word Jehovah is thought to be something else that Tyndale had

translated early in his early translation of the Bible.

Tyndale was the one that did a lot of the English translation from the original scrolls. His work

was something like 70 percent used in the King James Version in 1611 or so when King James

put together his Bible translation project. This word Jehovah, is thought to be a remnant of

Tyndale’s work also, and actually Tyndale originally had Jehovah written throughout because he

recognized that the Tetragrammaton which would be YHWH, some would say YHVH. I don’t

think there is an absolute certainty on either of those but the Tetragrammaton is the name of

YHWH. That is easily provable. Tyndale made an effort to carry that out into English with the

word Jehovah. There was no J until the French came along in the 1500’s so that’s a recent

development. Yahovah is where Tyndale was coming from. Just a little bit of background. If

you happen to see that in the King James Version and then if you actually search on Jehovah in

your King James concordance, you will find places where they are written.

With that in mind, the Passover is about Redemption and you can come up with the meaning of

these days. The first day of Unleavened Bread doesn’t have a lot of definition of what it’s

about. It has a lot of definition of what the Israelites were to do, but it’s called a memorial

Page 17: PassoverReadinessV2 Session 2 Checklist, We Are the Temple ... · Passover Readiness Session 2 1 PassoverReadinessV2 Session 2 Checklist, We Are the Temple, 6 days before Passover

Passover Readiness Session 2 17

service. I have attempted to see what events happened during the original Passover. That

determines what the day represents. The first day, or the Passover on the 14th is about

redemption. Let’s take a look at these scriptures:

Exo 6:1 Then YHWH said unto Moses, Now shalt thou see what I will do to Pharaoh: for

with a strong hand shall he let them go, and with a strong hand shall he drive them out

of his land.

Exo 6:2 And YHWH spake unto Moses, and said unto him, I am YHWH:

Exo 6:3 And I appeared unto Abraham, unto Isaac, and unto Jacob, by the name of

YHWH Almighty, but by my name JEHOVAH was I not known to them.

Exo 6:4 And I have also established my covenant with them, to give them the land of

Canaan, the land of their pilgrimage, wherein they were strangers.

Exo 6:5 And I have also heard the groaning of the children of Israel, whom the Egyptians

keep in bondage; and I have remembered my covenant.

Exo 6:6 Wherefore say unto the children of Israel, I am YHWH, and I will bring you out

from under the burdens of the Egyptians, and I will rid you out of their bondage, and I

will redeem you with a stretched out arm, and with great judgments:

Exo 6:7 And I will take you to me for a people, and I will be to you an Elohim: and ye

shall know that I am YHWH your Elohim, which bringeth you out from under the burdens

of the Egyptians.

Exo 6:8 And I will bring you in unto the land, concerning the which I did swear to give it

to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob; and I will give it you for an heritage: I am YHWH.

Exo 6:9 And Moses spake so unto the children of Israel: but they hearkened not unto

Moses for anguish of spirit, and for cruel bondage.

And going on:

Exo 12:3 Speak ye unto all the congregation of Israel, saying, In the tenth day of this

month they shall take to them every man a lamb, according to the house of their fathers,

a lamb for an house:

Exo 12:4 And if the household be too little for the lamb, let him and his neighbour next

unto his house take it according to the number of the souls; every man according to his

eating shall make your count for the lamb.

Page 18: PassoverReadinessV2 Session 2 Checklist, We Are the Temple ... · Passover Readiness Session 2 1 PassoverReadinessV2 Session 2 Checklist, We Are the Temple, 6 days before Passover

Passover Readiness Session 2 18

Exo 12:5 Your lamb shall be without blemish, a male of the first year: ye shall take it out

from the sheep, or from the goats:

Exo 12:6 And ye shall keep it up until the fourteenth day of the same month: and the

whole assembly of the congregation of Israel shall kill it in the evening.

Exo 12:7 And they shall take of the blood, and strike it on the two side posts and on the

upper door post of the houses, wherein they shall eat it.

Exo 12:8 And they shall eat the flesh in that night, roast with fire, and unleavened

bread; and with bitter herbs they shall eat it.

Exo 12:9 Eat not of it raw, nor sodden at all with water, but roast with fire; his head

with his legs, and with the purtenance thereof.

Exo 12:10 And ye shall let nothing of it remain until the morning; and that which

remaineth of it until the morning ye shall burn with fire.

Exo 12:11 And thus shall ye eat it; with your loins girded, your shoes on your feet, and

your staff in your hand; and ye shall eat it in haste: it is YHWH'S passover.

Exo 12:12 For I will pass through the land of Egypt this night, and will smite all the

firstborn in the land of Egypt, both man and beast; and against all the gods of Egypt I

will execute judgment: I am YHWH

We’ve probably read this a number of times obviously these instructions are forward pointing

to Yahushua. I see this as being about redemption. We certainly see some parallels to that in

some of the New Testament writings.

Eph 1:7 In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins,

according to the riches of his grace;

Eph 1:8 Wherein he hath abounded toward us in all wisdom and prudence;

Eph 1:9 Having made known unto us the mystery of his will, according to his good

pleasure which he hath purposed in himself:

Eph 1:10 That in the dispensation of the fulness of times he might gather together in

one all things in Messiah, both which are in heaven, and which are on earth; even in

him:

Eph 1:11 In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according

to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will:

Page 19: PassoverReadinessV2 Session 2 Checklist, We Are the Temple ... · Passover Readiness Session 2 1 PassoverReadinessV2 Session 2 Checklist, We Are the Temple, 6 days before Passover

Passover Readiness Session 2 19

Eph 1:12 That we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Messiah.

Eph 1:13 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of

your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit

of promise,

Eph 1:14 Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased

possession, unto the praise of his glory.

It strikes me to see that from the Israelites and the original Passover in Egypt to speed forward

and read this. It’s particularly striking to see what YHWH has done. He started with a physical

example of a Passover and fast forwarded 1500 years to Yahushua and then 2000 more years to

today. He says that Yahushua is the earnest of our inheritance. That means down payment.

We have a down payment now as a result of what Yahushua has done for us who are his

purchased possession. He has purchased us with his blood, so the down payment is provided of

the purchased possession unto the praise of his glory. We all know this is all his credit.

Ephesians has a real succinct way of putting this all together. We are sealed with that spirit of

promise. Once we are sealed, there is no turning back. We have been sealed through baptism

and we are getting ready to be recertified this time of the year at Passover. The earnest of our

inheritance has been paid through Yahushua’s blood. Hebrews 9 has another little addition to

this thought of redemption.

Heb 9:12 Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in

once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us.

Heb 9:13 For if the blood of bulls and of goats, and the ashes of an heifer sprinkling the

unclean, sanctifieth to the purifying of the flesh:

Heb 9:14 How much more shall the blood of Messiah, who through the eternal Spirit

offered himself without spot to YHWH, purge your conscience from dead works to serve

the living Elohim?

Heb 9:15 And for this cause he is the mediator of the new testament, that by means of

death, for the redemption of the transgressions that were under the first testament, they

which are called might receive the promise of eternal inheritance.

So the redemption of the transgressions, here’s the word redemption again. How far have we

come? Moses originally was the mediator, now Yahushua is the mediator. We receive the

promise of inheritance, while originally it was the promise of physical inheritance. Now we

have the promise through Yahushua and it’s an order of magnitude grander the promise of

Page 20: PassoverReadinessV2 Session 2 Checklist, We Are the Temple ... · Passover Readiness Session 2 1 PassoverReadinessV2 Session 2 Checklist, We Are the Temple, 6 days before Passover

Passover Readiness Session 2 20

eternal inheritance. It’s not just the physical part of land, it is eternal inheritance. What a

blessing.

Passover is about redemption.

The First Day of Unleavened Bread comes out about deliverance and liberty.

Exo 12:17 And ye shall observe the feast of unleavened bread; for in this selfsame day

have I brought your armies out of the land of Egypt: therefore shall ye observe this day in

your generations by an ordinance for ever.

This tells us that we observe it but it doesn’t give us the meaning of it, we have to dig a little

deeper, as it does give instructions

Exo 12:40 Now the sojourning of the children of Israel, who dwelt in Egypt, was four

hundred and thirty years.

Exo 12:41 And it came to pass at the end of the four hundred and thirty years, even the

selfsame day it came to pass, that all the hosts of YHWH went out from the land of

Egypt.

Exo 12:42 It is a night to be much observed unto YHWH for bringing them out from the

land of Egypt: this is that night of YHWH to be observed of all the children of Israel in

their generations.

When we dig down through this we know that the day they left in fact was the First Day of

Unleavened Bread. The Passover, the 14th they had the Passover in the evening at the

beginning of the 14th and the day of the 14th they were gathering all their goods and taking of

the booty of the Egyptians. The Egyptians wanted them to leave and they were preparing to

leave but the scriptures are plain that they left in the evening. That evening would have been

in the 15th. Delivery and liberty come on the 15th. The same words of deliverance are used in

Luke chapter 14 although looking at the circumstances, I don’t believe is Unleavened Bread.

Yahushua uses the same terminology so I think it’s of use to read it. Luke 4:18 is when

Yahushua is in Galilee at the beginning of his ministry.

Luk 4:18 The Spirit of YHWHis upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the

gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to

the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,

These two words deliverance and liberty are used in this scripture and of course this is being

quoted from Isaiah chapter 61:1-2. I’ve mentioned this before, and I’ll just say that this

happened in 27 CE, if you make a timeline of how all these events with Yahushua’s ministry

Page 21: PassoverReadinessV2 Session 2 Checklist, We Are the Temple ... · Passover Readiness Session 2 1 PassoverReadinessV2 Session 2 Checklist, We Are the Temple, 6 days before Passover

Passover Readiness Session 2 21

came together. Yahushua here is in my study and opinion is really proclaiming the Jubilee. The

Jubilee years talked about in several different places, Leviticus 25 of course is where we get the

main instructions about it. Isaiah chapter 61 is a reference to it. The Jubilee is like the re-boot

year so the year that everything is reset. Yahushua is declaring here when he reads Isaiah 61

that liberty and deliverance are going to be given. Why is that? It’s the 50th year Jubilee after

the 49 years of Sabbaticals is what he is referring to. Of interest Yahushua uses this terminology

deliverance and liberty. John chapter 8:31-36 brings this forward a little bit further.

Joh 8:31 Then said Yahushua to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my

word, then are ye my disciples indeed;

Joh 8:32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

Joh 8:33 They answered him, We be Abraham's seed, and were never in bondage to any

man: how sayest thou, Ye shall be made free?

Joh 8:34 Yahushua answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever committeth

sin is the servant of sin.

Joh 8:35 And the servant abideth not in the house for ever: but the Son abideth ever.

Joh 8:36 If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.

This is insinuated of being made free, deliverance and liberty.

The last Day of Unleavened Bread is likely, not provable when the Israelites went through the

Red Sea. Exodus chapter 14 talks about that so let’s take a look at the Last Day of Unleavened

Bread.

Exo 14:1 And YHWH spake unto Moses, saying,

Exo 14:2 Speak unto the children of Israel, that they turn and encamp before Pihahiroth,

between Migdol and the sea, over against Baalzephon: before it shall ye encamp by the

sea.

Exo 14:3 For Pharaoh will say of the children of Israel, They are entangled in the land,

the wilderness hath shut them in.

Exo 14:4 And I will harden Pharaoh's heart, that he shall follow after them; and I will be

honoured upon Pharaoh, and upon all his host; that the Egyptians may know that I am

YHWH. And they did so.

Page 22: PassoverReadinessV2 Session 2 Checklist, We Are the Temple ... · Passover Readiness Session 2 1 PassoverReadinessV2 Session 2 Checklist, We Are the Temple, 6 days before Passover

Passover Readiness Session 2 22

Exo 14:5 And it was told the king of Egypt that the people fled: and the heart of Pharaoh

and of his servants was turned against the people, and they said, Why have we done

this, that we have let Israel go from serving us?

Exo 14:6 And he made ready his chariot, and took his people with him:

Exo 14:7 And he took six hundred chosen chariots, and all the chariots of Egypt, and

captains over every one of them.

Exo 14:8 And YHWH hardened the heart of Pharaoh king of Egypt, and he pursued after

the children of Israel: and the children of Israel went out with an high hand.

Exo 14:9 But the Egyptians pursued after them, all the horses and chariots of Pharaoh,

and his horsemen, and his army, and overtook them encamping by the sea, beside

Pihahiroth, before Baalzephon.

Exo 14:10 And when Pharaoh drew nigh, the children of Israel lifted up their eyes, and,

behold, the Egyptians marched after them; and they were sore afraid: and the children

of Israel cried out unto YHWH.

Exo 14:11 And they said unto Moses, Because there were no graves in Egypt, hast thou

taken us away to die in the wilderness? wherefore hast thou dealt thus with us, to carry

us forth out of Egypt?

Exo 14:12 Is not this the word that we did tell thee in Egypt, saying, Let us alone, that

we may serve the Egyptians? For it had been better for us to serve the Egyptians, than

that we should die in the wilderness.

Exo 14:13 And Moses said unto the people, Fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation

of YHWH, which he will shew to you to day: for the Egyptians whom ye have seen to day,

ye shall see them again no more for ever.

See the Salvation of YHWH and again assuming this is the Last Day of Unleavened Bread when

this has happened, that’s why hope and salvation as the Israelites go through the open water

channel of the Red Sea, or the Reed Sea as it’s more properly translated. Going through the

Red Sea, YHWH’s salvation is what is being provided. I want to mention when we get to the

Last Day of Unleavened bread I’ll probably read the account from Josephus. It’s remarkable the

extra details Josephus adds to it. It could be that it is all just Josephus tradition that he wrote

about but it’s amazing how close he writes about this and the extra details that he adds to it.

If you have never read Josephus version of the Red Sea crossing I urge you to read it. It’s pretty

amazing.

Let’s go to Exodus chapter 15. This is the song of Moses, so this is after they have gone through

the Red Sea and Moses and Merriam assisted in this.

Exo 15:1 Then sang Moses and the children of Israel this song unto YHWH, and spake,

saying, I will sing unto YHWH, for he hath triumphed gloriously: the horse and his rider

hath he thrown into the sea.

Exo 15:2 YHWH is my strength and song, and he is become my salvation: he is my Eloah,

and I will prepare him an habitation; my father's Eloah, and I will exalt him.

Exo 15:3 YHWH is a man of war: YHWH is his name.

Exo 15:4 Pharaoh's chariots and his host hath he cast into the sea: his chosen captains

also are drowned in the Red sea.

Exo 15:5 The depths have covered them: they sank into the bottom as a stone.

Exo 15:6 Thy right hand, O YHWH, is become glorious in power: thy right hand, O YHWH,

hath dashed in pieces the enemy.

Exo 15:7 And in the greatness of thine excellency thou hast overthrown them that rose

up against thee: thou sentest forth thy wrath, which consumed them as stubble.

Exo 15:8 And with the blast of thy nostrils the waters were gathered together, the floods

stood upright as an heap, and the depths were congealed in the heart of the sea.

Exo 15:9 The enemy said, I will pursue, I will overtake, I will divide the spoil; my lust shall

be satisfied upon them; I will draw my sword, my hand shall destroy them.

Exo 15:10 Thou didst blow with thy wind, the sea covered them: they sank as lead in the

mighty waters.

Exo 15:11 Who is like unto thee, O YHWH, among the Elohim? who is like thee, glorious

in holiness, fearful in praises, doing wonders?

Exo 15:12 Thou stretchedst out thy right hand, the earth swallowed them.

Exo 15:13 Thou in thy mercy hast led forth the people which thou hast redeemed: thou

hast guided them in thy strength unto thy holy habitation.

Exo 15:14 The people shall hear, and be afraid: sorrow shall take hold on the inhabitants

of Palestina.

Page 24: PassoverReadinessV2 Session 2 Checklist, We Are the Temple ... · Passover Readiness Session 2 1 PassoverReadinessV2 Session 2 Checklist, We Are the Temple, 6 days before Passover

Passover Readiness Session 2 24

Exo 15:15 Then the dukes of Edom shall be amazed; the mighty men of Moab, trembling

shall take hold upon them; all the inhabitants of Canaan shall melt away.

Exo 15:16 Fear and dread shall fall upon them; by the greatness of thine arm they shall

be as still as a stone; till thy people pass over, O YHWH, till the people pass over, which

thou hast purchased.

Exo 15:17 Thou shalt bring them in, and plant them in the mountain of thine

inheritance, in the place, O YHWH, which thou hast made for thee to dwell in, in the

Sanctuary, O YHWH, which thy hands have established.

Exo 15:18 YHWH shall reign for ever and ever.

We’ve lost the rhyme and the meter and the music that goes along with this song, but it says

that this was the song they sang. In verse 20:

Exo 15:20 And Miriam the prophetess, the sister of Aaron, took a timbrel in her hand;

and all the women went out after her with timbrels and with dances.

This is a memorial of the occasion when they went through the Red Sea and I think technically it

ends in verse 18 and perhaps verse 19 is like a post script but in any case this whole section was

a song of some kind. Of interest, they sang this song when they were redeemed going through

the Red Sea. This same song is mentioned in Revelation 15

Rev 15:3 And they sing the song of Moses the servant of YHWH, and the song of the

Lamb, saying, Great and marvellous are thy works, YHWH Elohim Almighty; just and true

are thy ways, thou King of saints.

Rev 15:4 Who shall not fear thee, O YHWH, and glorify thy name? for thou only art holy:

for all nations shall come and worship before thee; for thy judgments are made

manifest.

Rev 15:5 And after that I looked, and, behold, the temple of the tabernacle of the

testimony in heaven was opened:

This reference to the Song of Moses all the way fast forwarding to some yet future date is

talked about here. There is also a new song that will be sung that we see in Revelation, but the

Song of Moses and the song of the Lamb are sung here. This season of the year we start

thinking about what is ahead of us.

With that background, several different presentations that fit into that mold, that’s sort of the

high level of the theme that you will see for the presentations that I’ve made over the years.

Taking each day and having a set of characteristics to it so when we talk about the Passover we

are talking about redemption.

Part 4 Background

Calendar Alternatives

Which calendar was in affect?

Calendar considerations

What year?

Which day of the week?

The first part of this presentation will look at the calendar alternatives and which calendar was

in affect when Yahushua’s Passover actually occurred. What other calendar considerations?

Today we have several variations and what year was it? And which day of the week was it?

There is lots of controversy about this so I’m not saying I’m the only one that’s right and

everyone else is wrong. I have studied this so what I am presenting is the findings from my

study. If you have a different understanding of it, that’s all good and well.

Some very sharp people have studied into this probably deeper than I have but when you start

looking at it, you start seeing the direction that it goes. If you are honest with yourself and ask

some good legitimate questions the traditions that many suggest, they are promoted as this is

the way it is. One of them in mainstream Christianity of course is the crucifixion happened on a

Friday. Another one that you find in primarily Churches of God and Hebrew Roots is that the

crucifixion happened on a Wednesday. Then you find that what year did all this happen and it

ranges from about 28 to about 33 CE.

Several years ago I went about to discover for myself what the data, the actual history of all of

this told me. I have been one, just so everybody knows, for probably 40 years of my life going

back to 1970 when I first became involved with World Wide that Wednesday was the day of the

crucifixion. I had the ability to prove that to anyone who had a reason to ask and I had given

studies on it and written about it in the past. I was convicted that Wednesday was the right

day. I knew that Friday wasn’t the right day so I went about to prove for sure that Wednesday

was the right day and what I found was something quite different. Bottom line of it is, this little

bit we will go over we will talk about that at a high level. It’s not the kind of information that

you could take in a 30 minute session and say that is correct. There is much more that has to

go into it. I’m only hit a few of the highlights.

After that we will get into the Six days before Passover itself with the background of what I’m

going to tell you about the calendar. The alternatives that we have for the actual crucifixion

day fall into three different theories.

Page 26: PassoverReadinessV2 Session 2 Checklist, We Are the Temple ... · Passover Readiness Session 2 1 PassoverReadinessV2 Session 2 Checklist, We Are the Temple, 6 days before Passover

Passover Readiness Session 2 26

Theory one is the one that probably most people hold to on this call and most people that are

Sabbath keeping will hold to theory one which says that the crucifixion was Wednesday,

Yahushua died on the afternoon on Wednesday and he was rushed to be put in the grave by

sunset Wednesday because Thursday was the First Day of Unleavened Bread. Friday was a non-

Holy Day and was part of the Days of Unleavened Bread but it was a non-Holy Day and then the

weekly Sabbath came. According to this theory, Yahushua was resurrected exactly 72 hours

later at sunset on the weekly Sabbath. The one scripture that this theory anchors to is

Matthew 12:40 and it says that only sign that’s given is as the sign of Jonah. Jonah was three

days and three nights in the belly of the whale, so will the Son of man be. That scripture is

taken to be exactly 72 hours. I would argue that it’s an incorrect interpretation particularly

after you look at the other facts. That is theory one though and that is the theory that I always

believed to be truth and fact until four or five years ago.

Theory three, I’ll jump to the common Christian belief system that the crucifixion was on Friday

afternoon, Yahushua was put in the grave then the weekly Sabbath came and there were two

days and two nights and it’s an allegorical count or interpretation of Matthew 12:40 which say

three days and three nights. From a global prospective theory three is the most common

understood one by the most people.

Very few people have come up to theory two which shows that the crucifixion was on

Thursday. The week that Yahushua died was a Thursday, he was crucified during the Thursday

daylight period and buried Thursday afternoon and was in the grave three days and three

nights although not a full 72 hours. He was resurrected Sunday morning somewhere around or

just before daylight. It surprised me to see that theory two is the conclusion. I didn’t have any

prejudice when I started this study, I figured I would come out with Wednesday or possibly

Friday. I was actually surprised when the data led me to theory two because not many have

concluded that. I’ll tell you ahead of time that that was my conclusion but I will give you a few

of the reasons why.

There is a chart on the video this transcription was made about the studies that I have done on

the calendar. In the time of Yahushua, there are some today that think that the Hebrew

calculated calendar was in effect. They argue that the visible crescent calendar was not in

effect at that time and had long before Yahushua’s life on the earth had long been abandoned

and in favor of the Calculated Hebrew Calendar. The difference between these two calendars is

that the first visible moon calendar necessitates the visible testimony that someone saw the

crescent from and around the environs of Jerusalem.

The Calculated Calendar which by the way, wasn’t invented by any sources that you see before

about 250 CE by a guy named Hillel the 2nd. The Calculated Hebrew Calendar people that

believe this was the case. The Calculated Hebrew Calendar doesn’t use the first visible

Page 27: PassoverReadinessV2 Session 2 Checklist, We Are the Temple ... · Passover Readiness Session 2 1 PassoverReadinessV2 Session 2 Checklist, We Are the Temple, 6 days before Passover

Passover Readiness Session 2 27

crescent, it uses a mathematical model of something called the Molad and the Molad is a

measurement of the exact time of the rotation of the moon around the earth some 29.5 days.

The Calculated Calendar uses a mathematical model to determine when the new moon which is

the dark moon is visible which typically is one or as many as two days difference from the first

visible Crescent Calendar. If you start to look into this, what you find is even to this day, so we

will be keeping Passover according to the first visible crescent. Most of the time the Hebrew

Calculated Calendar, the mathematical calendar, is one or two days earlier than the Visible

Crescent Calendar. That has been true throughout history.

There are many good computer modeling tools that are very accurate that let us unwind the

new moon dates going back all the way to 30 CE or the first century and before. We can

unwind when the new moon was determined using the Hebrew Calculated Calendar and we

can also unwind the first Visible Crescent Calendar dating back to the time Yahushua lived on

the earth. What was done on the chart has taken the years that are most commonly associated

with Yahushua’s crucifixion starting in 28CE there are some that say it’s 28 as far out as 33CE.

There are a few people that go to 34 CE, but this is the general range that people say that

Yahushua was crucified. When you take the Calculated Hebrew Calendar to establish Abib 1 or

Nissan 1, versus the New Moon Calendar to establish Abib or Nissan1, 14 days later is the

Passover.

The chart has been converted to the Gregorian dates. The Gregorian calendar didn’t come into

play until the 16th century by Pope Gregory. It’s easy to convert it to the Julian system that was

in place at that point in time. It’s actually a two day difference. All of that has been taken into

consideration in putting the chart together.

With all of that said, if you believe that the Passover was on a Wednesday, we can now narrow

down what years the Passover would have been. In 28 CE there was a possibility of a

Wednesday Passover, with both calendar systems. In 30 CE there was a possibility of a

Wednesday calendar system only with the Hebrew Calculated Calendar. If someone thinks that

30CE was the date of the crucifixion, by necessity, and they think that Wednesday was the

Passover, they have to say they are using the Hebrew Calculated Mathematical Calendar.

Wednesday was not an option in 30CE for the Passover if you use the first visible crescent.

A couple more choices are in 31 CE and you will see the term late and early barley so some

years there was a possibility that the Passover would be one month earlier as a result of the

barley observation. That is all taken into consideration. 31CE with late barley was the other

option of a Wednesday crucifixion and those that believe Theory 3 that I presented that Friday

have one choice, it has to be 33CE. It could be either calendar system in effect, but 33CE would

have been the only date option that the Passover could have happened on a Friday. The next

Page 28: PassoverReadinessV2 Session 2 Checklist, We Are the Temple ... · Passover Readiness Session 2 1 PassoverReadinessV2 Session 2 Checklist, We Are the Temple, 6 days before Passover

Passover Readiness Session 2 28

series of steps that I took once I built this was to see what year actually did the crucifixion take

place.

What year was Yahushua crucified? There are some really great markers in the scripture and in

the secular record that point to it. Those markers have to do with the Hasmonian Dynasty. I

will continue this on the next study. The markers have to do with the reign of Herod, the

marker of his death in 4 BCE is essential if there is for a 30 CE crucifixion. Also his death would

have had to be in 3BCE for a 31CE crucifixion.

Reign and Death of Herod

Josephus framed Herod’s death with two historical events (Ant 17.8.1)

Herod reigned 34 years from the death of Antigonus in 37 BCE

37BCE- 34= 4BCE (non-accession inclusive dating)

Herod reigned 37 years since he was declared king by the Romans in 40 BCE

40BCE – 37 years = 4BCE (Non-accession inclusive dating)

5BCE Atonement eclipse (Ant 17.6.4)

Succession of Herod’s Sons (4BCE)

Considerations:

Verifiable Sabbatical years

Lk 3:1-2- Coregency of Tiberius – 15th year (26 CE)

Luk 3:1 Now in the fifteenth year of the reign of Tiberius Caesar, Pontius Pilate being

governor of Judaea, and Herod being tetrarch of Galilee, and his brother Philip tetrarch

of Ituraea and of the region of Trachonitis, and Lysanias the tetrarch of Abilene,

Luk 3:2 Annas and Caiaphas being the high priests, the word of YHWH came unto John

the son of Zacharias in the wilderness.

Lk 3:23- Yahushua is about 30 years old (26CE)

Luk 3:23 And Yahushua himself began to be about thirty years of age, being (as was

supposed) the son of Joseph, which was the son of Heli,

Jo 2:19-20 The Temple was 46 years in building (27CE)

Start date is 20BCE

Plus 46 years = 27CE (add 1 year transition from BCE to CE)

Page 29: PassoverReadinessV2 Session 2 Checklist, We Are the Temple ... · Passover Readiness Session 2 1 PassoverReadinessV2 Session 2 Checklist, We Are the Temple, 6 days before Passover

Passover Readiness Session 2 29

Joh 2:19 Yahushua answered and said unto them, Destroy this temple, and in three days

I will raise it up.

Joh 2:20 Then said the Jews, Forty and six years was this temple in building, and wilt

thou rear it up in three days?

Luke 24:13-21 – on the road to Emmaus

3rd day – 14 witnesses (in 3 days + 5)

Luk 24:13 And, behold, two of them went that same day to a village called Emmaus,

which was from Jerusalem about threescore furlongs.

Luk 24:14 And they talked together of all these things which had happened.

Luk 24:15 And it came to pass, that, while they communed together and reasoned,

Yahushua himself drew near, and went with them.

Luk 24:16 But their eyes were holden that they should not know him.

Luk 24:17 And he said unto them, What manner of communications are these that ye

have one to another, as ye walk, and are sad?

Luk 24:18 And the one of them, whose name was Cleopas, answering said unto him, Art

thou only a stranger in Jerusalem, and hast not known the things which are come to pass

there in these days?

Luk 24:19 And he said unto them, What things? And they said unto him, Concerning

Yahushua of Nazareth, which was a prophet mighty in deed and word before YHWH and

all the people:

Luk 24:20 And how the chief priests and our rulers delivered him to be condemned to

death, and have crucified him.

Luk 24:21 But we trusted that it had been he which should have redeemed Israel: and

beside all this, to day is the third day since these things were done.

The road to Emmaus happened on a Sunday and it’s clear that it has to be. On the road to

Emmaus the two guys that were walking said it’s the third day since these things events

happened. These events they were talking about was the crucifixion of Yahushua. You can

count backwards from that and you get to Thursday.

I don’t want to get too caught up with the calendar and the day. These events did happen and

frankly it doesn’t make any difference which day of the week, or which year it happened, it’s

Page 30: PassoverReadinessV2 Session 2 Checklist, We Are the Temple ... · Passover Readiness Session 2 1 PassoverReadinessV2 Session 2 Checklist, We Are the Temple, 6 days before Passover

Passover Readiness Session 2 30

the fact that it did happen. It all points to Yahushua as the one and only name by which we

may be saved. I don’t want to lose track of that, nor will I in the process of this or the

discussion of the presentation.
