You Are
The Passover Custom• “Passover” of judgment– Release one prisoner– Political tactic?
• Pilate was probably not a big fan of the custom– Guilty criminals being released into the public!– This time was different!
Barabbas• He is a notorious prisoner (Mat 27:16)• An insurrectionist (rebel) (Mark 15:7)• A murderer (Mark 15:7, Acts 3:14)• A thief (John 18:40)
Barabbas is clearly a guilty man deserving of death!
The unthinkable happens…
• "His blood shall be on us and on our children!" (Matt. 27:25)
• A criminal was released instead of an innocent man!
• Jesus took Barabbas’ place on the cross
One last fact about Barabbas…
• His name…–What is it?
