ASPIRATIONS- To take more control of parts supply and

installation, so as to create capability to mobilise with the correct equipment within 24 hours for urgent rectification requirements.

- To integrate our capabilities within the overall asset management strategy of our client in order to manage those systems which IKAD specialise in.

- To provide our specialised capabilities at short notice to all marine & naval vessels, in all locations within the Australasian region.

INNOVATIVE SOLUTION EXAMPLES- IKAD instigated modifications to seal housings

that has doubled the life of the rudder stock and has eliminated 3 off ship in-life removal of rudder stock for machining and refurbishment. (3 x 8 ships x approximately $100K each with the potential saving to the Commonwealth of Australia (COA), of approximately $2.4M through the life of the Anzac class fleet).

- HMAS Arunta and HMAS Warramunga OD Boxes. IKAD prepared and provided an innovative schedule that would have allowed the vessel to remain in the water during the removal, overhaul and replacement of the STBD OD Box. This was not taken up and IKAD carried out the repairs to the vessels on the hardstand. Whilst still achieving the scheduled deployment of the vessels, not having to dock the vessel would have saved the COA considerable expenditure on hardstand costs.

- IKAD purchased a magnetic blanket from Norway which allowed for underwater welding repairs to be undertaken. This saved the client considerable expense & time as the vessel did not need to be docked. Further to the above a welding process was developed by IKAD & ISO approved by Germanischer Lloyd in a short timeframe. This was challenging as we had to be able to replicate the temperatures of the plate steel noting that half of the material was in water. This involved building a mock-up of the hull & placing it in water to replicate actual conditions.

DEALERSHIP & AGENCY AGREEMENTSIKAD is the Dealership & Field Service Centre in Australasia for Renk MAAG products and after sales support. Renk MAAG is an OEM of Gearboxes. Heila Cranes Australian Distributor and After Sales Parts and Service Agent for their range of marine and offshore cranes.Schoenrock Marine Hydraulic Systems Australian Distributor and After Sales Parts and Service Agent for their range of Naval and Marine doors and hatches.

STAFF CAPABILITIESAs with most companies involved in the Contracting Industry IKAD employee numbers vary according to project demands. Despite these fluctuating activity levels we have a very high retention rate of key personnel consisting of Senior Management, Project Management, Supervisory Staff, Highly Skilled Technicians and Administrative Support.

IKAD has also developed a vast Supply Chain network for undertaking and managing other specialised works including, lagging, electrical and refrigeration works for projects that we are involved with.

IKAD Engineering is certified to ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System ISO 14001 Environmental Management System, AS/NZS 4801 Safety Management System ,OHSAS 18001 : 2007 Safety Management System and ISO 3834 Welding.

IKAD uses the ISO Integrated Management System as a cornerstone to its wider Business Management System (BMS). The BMS extends to all our processes including;

Wayne RedfernTechnical Services Manager – 40 years of experience in Construction (Commercial and Industrial). Wayne has held Senior Project Management positions in some of WA’s largest companies and his strengths are in the areas of Project Management, Estimating and Supply Chain Management.

Ben FaulknerCommercial Manager – 10 years of experience in Defence (Naval Repair and Refit) and Construction (Mining and Commercial) Ben’s strength’s are in the areas of Contract Administration, Cost Control, HSEQ and Finance.

Nathan MilesDefence Manager – 10 years of experience in Defence (Naval Repair and Refit). Nathan has extensive experience on the propulsion systems of the RAN’s surface ships. He is also a Renk MAAG field service technician.

WORK HISTORY

Set out below is a short history of projects undertaken by IKAD since our formation.

MAJOR PROJECT EXPERIENCE

HMAS Ballarat ASMD

- Gearbox Overhaul

- Replacement of existing copper nickel pipework with fiberglass

- Overhauled the rudder system including stock & seals

- Various other maintenance tasks

HMAS Perth Engineering Upgrades

- Undertaking various design changes to the vessel, included but not limited to:

- Installation of Ballistic Protection Plates

- Boat Rope Securing & Fairleads

- Gym Re-Location

Breakdown Maintenance – Defence

- Mobilisation of a team to Bahrain within 24 Hrs for HMAS Arunta B clutch failure

- Replacement of B Clutch CCGB end coupling on HMAS Arunta in Kuwait

- Inspection/NDT of B & C clutches and CCGB end coupling fastener replacement on all ANZAC Class ships

- Investigation and rectification of HMAS Stuart CCGB overheating defect – 8 x white metal bearings were repaired and replaced - vessel sailed on time.

- Removal of HMAS Perth’s damaged B clutch complete and replacing with B Clutch from HMAS Warramunga

- Making safe HMAS Warramunga to sail without B Clutch Installed

- Replacement of HMAS Warramungas’ B Clutch with brand new item

- HMAS Arunta Thrust block major insitu repairs and refurbishment working in conjunction with Rolls-Royce and Michell Bearings UK.

Department of Defence- Various mechanical, piping, structural and

preservation maintenance tasks have been conducted to the Royal Australian Naval vessels over the last 15 years with various companies and OEM’s.

Active Deployment- IKAD carried out critical repairs in Bahrain and

Kuwait to ANZAC class vessels during active deployment in the Gulf due to catastrophic failure of various elements of the propulsion system. We successfully carried out these repairs enabling the vessels to complete their deployments.

Pre Refit Condition Assessment (PRCA)

- Development of the ANZAC Class Drive Train document to assess the condition of the drive train prior to a major maintenance activity. When developed the PRCA will be conducted by IKAD with comprehensive reporting and defect repair solutions.

HMAS Choules- Scan Eagle Installation

- Manufactured & installed the Unmanned Aerial System “UAS” Longitude Surface Detection “LSD”. This included the fabrication & preservation of the frame to client supplied specifications & drawings, transportation & installation on HMAS Choules & the installation of the various brackets & workstations within the control room for the UAS LSD.

Offshore Production Platform - Goodwyn Alpha A

- Renk MAAG Turbo Gearbox overhaul, including bearing changeout and the installation of a new rotor set

- Gearbox trials and commissioning.

Commercial Marine

- Various repairs & maintenance to commercial vessels including rig tenders, tug boats, cruise liners, offshore platforms & customs & boarder protection vessels.

Rolls Royce Marine Australia

- Overhaul of ANZAC propeller hubs, Oil Distribution Boxes, Masker air systems, assistance has also been provided with installation of the above and other propulsion systems, Weld repairs to propeller blades and propeller hubs to MIL specifications.

Royal Australian Navy SPO

- Conduct Reliability Centered Maintenance Studies relating to ANZAC Class Main Reduction Gearboxes and Cross Connect Gearbox systems up to 22,000 KW.
