Part A – Preparation

Step 1 – Prepare the PashminaCut3piecesofFlorianiWetNGoneTackystabilizerapproximately9-10”longbythewidthoftheroll.Contrarytousualtechniques,thisstabilizerisgoingontherightsideofthepashmina.Itwillkeepthefabricfromshiftingwhenplacedinthehoopaswellasprovideasecure,water-solubletopperforthedelicatefabric.

Layouttheedgeofthescarfonaflatsurface.Duetothemalleablenatureofthefabric,straightentheedgeoutandsmooththesurfaceupatleasteightinches.Carefullypeelawaythepaperbackingofthestabilizer.(Note–ifusinga20”rollofstabilizer,cutthewidthinhalf.Itwillbeeasiertoapplywithouthavingtoreposition.)Laythestabilizerjustovertheedgeofthefringeandupontothefabricatleast8”.Overlapthenextlayslightlyandcontinueacrossthewidthofthepashmina.

Step 2 – Position the templatesTrimthetemplatesandtapeinpositiononthefabricasshown.Useastraightedgeruleroryardsticktoalignthebottomedgesofthedesignabout�"up

fromfringededge.Withachalkmarker,markthecenterofeachdesigntemplate.Removetemplates.

Step 3 – Hoop the stabilizer.HoopWetNGoneTackystabilizerwiththepapersideup.Scoreandremovepaper,permanufacturer’sinstructions,toexposeadhesivesurface.

Tam’sTip–UseWetNGoneTackyinsteadofPerfectSticksonostabilizershowsonthewrongsideofthepashmina.Sincethebobbinthreadisthesamecolorasthepashmina,thewrongsideoftheembroiderywillalmostblendinwiththefabric.

Step 4 – Hoop the pashminaGentlymovethepashminaontothehoopedstabilizer.Usetemplatecrosshairstopositioninthecenterofthehoop.Removetemplate.Smoothfabrictosecureinplace.Makesurethefringeisnotcaughtunderthedesignarea.

Step 4 – Stitch the center designSelectthebesthoopsizeforthecenterdesign.Hoopthestabilizerandstitchthedesignasdoneintheprevioussteps.

Part C – Finishing touches

Step 1 – Launder

Launderthepashminatoremovealltracesofthestabilizer.Forbestresults,useawaterorfabricsoftenerwiththedetergent.Thestabilizerwillnotleavearesidueonthefabric.

Step 2 – PressUseapressingclothtopressoverdesignarea.

Part B – Embroidery

Step 1 – Embroider the first designLoadthedesigncreatedinthesoftwarelesson.Threadmachineandbobbinwiththeappropriatethreadbasedontheprintedcoloranalysis.Positionthehooponmachine.Locatethecenterofthedesignundertheneedle.

Stitchthedesign,changingthreadcolorsasrequired.Aftertheembroideryiscomplete,gentlyremovepashminafromhoop.Trimawayexcessstabilizerfromthebackofthefabriconly.

Step 2 – Rehoop for second designRepeatPartA,Steps3-4,tohooptheseconddesignontheoppositesideofthepashmina.

Step 3 – Embroider the second designRepeatPartB,Step1fortheseconddesign.Remembertomirrorimagethedesigneitherinsoftwareoronthemachine.
