Whilst many students will choose courses delivered exclusively in their ‘home’ school, others are able to take one or more subjects delivered at another Partnership Sixth school, especially as some specialist subjects are delivered on one site only.

Minibuses will transport you, free of charge, to your lessons and coordination of the school day means you will not miss any teaching time.

Our teachers and support staff are dedicated professionals who are committed to your progress and achievement. They work hard to ensure you will enjoy the right experiences, resources and opportunities needed for success.

Our extensive careers programme ensures that Partnership Sixth students have the knowledge, skills and confidence to succeed in life after school. Each student will be offered individual planned support and advice, and we ensure that everyone has access to up to date information and research materials.

We are proud of the links we have with local employers and Higher Education establishments and appreciate the contribution they make to our careers programme and the development of employability skills. Our Progression Accord with London South Bank University, London College of Communication (LCC) and Greenwich University allows smooth transition onto a wide range of degree courses.

The majority of our students aspire to further their education with many gaining places on degree courses at some of the country’s leading universities.

The roles of Prefects and School Captains are particularly prestigious, challenging and rewarding. Students have the opportunity to undertake voluntary work or to help teachers with younger pupils in school.

Sixth Formers also organise a range of social, charity and fundraising events. You will have the opportunity to take part in local and national competitions in a range of subject areas and to participate in whole school sport, creative and performing arts projects.

To enhance your experiences, we also offer a range of field and study trips to destinations inside and outside the UK. In recent years, visits have been made to New York, Barcelona, Berlin and Rome.

All students are assigned to a tutor group in their home school and a comprehensive tutorial programme has been designed to meet the needs of post 16 study.Tutors guide students through their studies ensuring individual needs are met through support and advice. Tutors also play a key role in monitoring academic performance.

The Sixth Form teams in each school are always available for consultation with both parents and students. Listening to the views of students and parents is of paramount importance. From help with course choices to advice about personal finances, our aim is to make sure everything runs as smoothly as possible during your Sixth Form studies.

The courses offered are presented in suites of subjects, divided into the following:

Level 1 Courses(Vocational Studies with Work Skills)

Level 2 Courses(BTEC, CACHE, Cambridge Technicals and GCSE’s)

Level 3 Courses – AS/A2 Levels(A-Levels and Applied A-Levels)

Level 3 Courses – Vocational(BTEC, CACHE and Cambridge Technicals)

Other Courses(CSLA and HSLA)

There may be courses under consideration for next September which are not included in this prospectus. Please enquire directly about these at the Open Evenings.

It should be noted that we do not guarantee that every subject listed will run next September with such factors as student uptake and staff availability being considered carefully before a final decision is made.

You will hopefully decide to join Partnership Sixth and in doing so you must complete the enclosed application form. You will be required to list the courses you are interested in studying. This is not an easy task given the wide range of qualifications on offer so you are advised not to undertake it without sufficient research, thinking and discussion.

There is currently guidance being issued by the Government regarding the number of courses students should follow, taking into account the number of hours required to complete each course. A relevant and appropriate programme will be discussed with each student at their IAG meeting.

The admissions criteria for each course are quite specific and should be read carefully.

Completed application forms should be handed in to your home school by the 14th December 2014. External applicants should submit forms by hand or post addressed to the Head of Sixth Form at their preferred School.

Please note that some subjects that run in more than one location may have different course content. Additional information can be found on each school’s website.

Course Description:Art and Design gives you an opportunity to develop your skills and explore a range of approaches within Art and Design. With specialist teachers you will have workshops to provide you with the skills to pursue your own area of interest. This course provides a perfect platform for AS in Fine Art, Textiles Design, Photography and Graphic Design. What Next? Art and Design provides a strong platform for any AS course in Visual Arts and a chance to show your work creatively and in a sustained manner suitable for applying to other courses or employment. Course: Art and Design Level: 2 Award: Cambridge Technical Course Board/Code: OCR 05360 Location: Trinity

Course Description:This qualification provides an understanding of art, design and craft through engagement with the work of artists and designers. Students have the opportunity to gain practical and creative skills by working with the 2D and 3D materials, processes and techniques of their choice. Available options include photography, graphic design, 3D, fine art and fashion. What Next? The course provides an excellent foundation and platform for further study of specific art subjects such as fine art, graphics, photography and textiles at AS Level and further into A Level and Higher Education.

Course Description: This course is for anyone who wants to develop their practical skills whilst learning how textiles techniques and ideas can successfully progress from a working brief into a finished fashion product. The specific focus is within textiles; you can choose to specialise in the area that you are most talented and interested in, such as pattern and printing, tailoring and accessory making, fabric/ image manipulation or fabric construction.

What Next? There are a wide variety of prospective careers that you can explore such as fashion-retail, fashion-manufacturing; stylist, buyer; tailor-dressmaker; costume designer; visual merchandiser and fashion-clothing designer.

Course: Media StudiesLevel: 2 Award: Cambridge TechnicalCourse Board/Code: OCR 05380Location: Trinity

Course Description:This practically based subject investigates the process behind the production of media texts such as adverts, films and magazines and gives you the chance to create these products yourself. The production process is an important part of Media and students will be required to build an understanding of the three main stages of production; pre-production, principal photography and post-production. What Next?The media sector is one of the fastest growing in the job market. Media Studies can lead to jobs in journalism, film, television, radio or advertising to name just a few areas. Course Description: This qualification is designed for learners wishing to gain an understanding of the music industry and develop the basic skills across a range of areas within the subject. The Level 2 qualification aims to introduce learners to the subject who may wish to continue their studies at Level 3. While no formal musical experience or qualifications are required, an appreciation of the subject area is desirable.

Course Description: This course covers a range of art, craft and design disciplines including painting, drawing, 3D, Graphics, photography, textiles, mixed media and print making. There is a strong emphasis on independent learning and it is expected that a minimum of 10 hours of work is produced each week.

What Next?A Level Art can open doors to a range of Higher Education and employment pathways including fashion, fine art, photography, graphic design, history of art, publishing and architecture amongst others.

Course Description:Fine Art offers students the opportunity to extend their core skills in drawing and painting; exploring a variety of challenging techniques and mediums in their studies. Course Description:This is an exciting course that combines the exploration of plays, drama practitioners and theatre styles, creating and devising your own theatre, performing to an audience and evaluating professional theatre. You will study plays written by a variety of playwrights from different periods in time and evaluate them from various points of view. You will also critically review live theatre.

What Next?You can study drama in further education. Specific jobs include working as an actor in theatre, film, TV or radio, stage management, lighting, costume, director, playwright, scenic construction, prop maker. Course: Film Studies Level: 3Award: A-Level Course Board/Code: WJEC 2181/3181 Location: Welling

Course Description: Film Studies covers both the theoretical and practical aspects of filmmaking and film viewing. The course encourages students to explore and discuss the ways in which film communicates messages about people, societies, events, issues and perceptions. An enjoyment of film and filmmaking is a must as you will be taught to apply practical filmmaking skills by making your own short films and film sequences.

What Next?The course provides opportunities for many film and media related careers but is a must for anyone wanting to work within the theoretical and practical filmmaking industries.

Course Description: This course is made up of 3 units, all of which contribute to the final assessment mark. This course is the equivalent of one GCE AS Level. During the year, you will have the opportunity to consolidate any knowledge or skills you already have and learn new skills. The course is based around vocal work, some composition & arranging and performing. What Next?The certificate prepares you for employment and provides a good grounding for higher courses such as: - BTEC Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma in Music (equivalent to one GCE A level).- Degree courses at University in Music or related fields- You can pursue a career in the Music and Performing Arts industry.

Course: Music Performance Level: 3 Award: BTEC Course Board/Code: Edexcel 500/7844/6 Location: Welling School

Course Description:The aim of this course is to develop your performance skills and knowledge needed to play successfully alone and in a group. This includes rehearsing, technique, listening, and the practical concerns of arranging a concert or working in a studio. This particular BTEC course suits students who play an instrument or sing.

What Next? This course gives the opportunity to study at higher education, or work directly in music performance, commercial music, music technology, composition and music production.

Specific GCSE Requirements: 5 A* - C including at least a C grade in Music or an appropriate level of vocal or instrumental proficiency, to be assessed by the course teaching team at audition.

Course Description:In this exciting industry you will develop a detailed background knowledge with practical experience in different aspects of music production. You will learn techniques associated with the recording, composition and manipulation of sound and music. Music Technology combines creativity and current advances in computer music and digital recording to provide a comprehensive education for students with an interest in both.

What Next?This course gives the opportunity to study Music Technology at higher education, or work within the music industry, creative industries and technology sector including careers within broadcasting, studios and live sound.

Course: Performing Arts (Dance) Level: 3 Award: Subsidiary DiplomaCourse Board/Code: Edexcel 500/6919/6Location: Erith / Welling

Course Description: Here at Welling School you can step inside the world of dance and gain knowledge and understanding of the dancer in action and skills involved in performance. Students will cover the following units (although these may change throughout the year): Performing to an audience, dance performance, Urban Dance, developing contemporary technique, developing classical ballet technique and dance appreciation. What Next?BTEC Dance is suitable for anyone wanting to pursue the arts or dance in Higher Education, or as support for any course requiring good communication and group work skills.

Course: Business Level: 2 Award: Cambridge TechnicalCourse Board/Code: OCR / 05320 Location: Erith

Course Description: This course provides you with opportunities to develop skills demanded by employers. It equips you with the essential knowledge and tools for the world of work. It is structured to enable you to gain qualifications at your own pace and build on your achievements. It also prepares you for further learning or training.

What Next? This course helps you to develop the skills, knowledge and understanding required to enable progression to further education in the same or related area. You can also progress into employment after taking this course.


Course: Computer Science Level: 2 Award: OCR GCSE Computing Course Board/Code: J275 Location: Welling School

Course Description:This course provides learners with an in-depth understanding of how computer technology works. This includes opportunities to explore aspects of computer programming. It will enable learners to evaluate the effectiveness of computer programme/solutions and the impact of computer technology in society.

What Next?The course supports the development of various educational skills such as critical thinking, problem solving and analytical skills. It provides an opportunity of Further Education and an access into Computer Science study at Higher Educational.

Specific GCSE Requirements: 5 A* - C including at least a B grade in Mathematics, English and IT.

Course: Creative iMediaLevel: 2 Award: Cambridge National Course Board/Code: OCR/J817Location: Erith

Course Description: Cambridge Nationals in Creative iMedia are media sector-focused, including film, television, web development, gaming and animation. With an exciting choice of optional units for the Certificate, students have the freedom to explore the areas of creative media that interest them. It will equip learners with a range of skills to develop, such as research, planning and review.

What Next?You could work in one of a number of arts based and creative fields including Video Games Design, Photography, Photo Journalism, Picture Editing, Fashion Design or Graphics. Specific GCSE Requirements: There is no requirement for learners to achieve any specific qualifications prior to undertaking this course but a good basic understanding of ICT and an interest in the Media would be an advantage.

Course: LawLevel: 2 Award: GCSECourse Board/Code: AQA 4160 Location: Trinity

Course Description:Have you ever been fascinated by the way our legal system works or wondered why some people go to prison? If so, this may be the course for you! You will learn about the English legal system, criminal law and family law. This course will help you to explore how different factors have shaped the world we live in today.

What Next?You could continue to study Law at A Level, but you may decide to work within the legal system in a number of roles; such as a legal secretary.

Course: AccountancyLevel: 3 Award: A - LevelCourse Board/Code: OCR H011/H411Location: Erith

Course Description: The AS GCE Accounting specification gives an introduction to the concepts and principles that underlie accounting theory and practice; and expands their application to a range of accounting situations. It provides a discrete package of material, giving those candidates who do not wish to progress to A2 with a knowledge and understanding of accounting principles and techniques applicable to the business environment. The A2 part of the Advanced GCE Accounting specification incorporates a greater depth of knowledge across a wide range of business situations.

Course Description: This course is for anyone who has an interest in the sports industry and wishes to study different aspects of sport in detail. There are three possible options that you can choose, a subsidiary diploma (1 A level equivalent), A Diploma (2 A level equivalent) or an extended diploma (3 A level equivalent). Over the duration of either course students will have a series of assignments to complete to pass specialist units. Assignments could be produced as written reports, presentation, posters, question and answers or practical performance.

What Next? Studying at university on related sports degree courses such as Sport science, PE teaching or moving into specific sports coaching degrees. Employment in the sports industry is also an option.

Course Description:The Higher Sports Leaders Award is recognised as a Level 3 Award and has UCAS points that can be gained on completion of the course. The course provides excellent opportunities for students to develop self-confidence, team building and responsibility. Students will also need to complete a Level 1 coaching qualification as part of the course.

What Next?Progress onto Further or Higher Education, Level 2 coaching courses or access employment opportunities within the Sport and Leisure industry.

Course Description: On this Level 1 and 2 vocational Work Skills programme there is something for everyone. The courses on offer are designed to give you skills and qualifications for the real world. The Programme is designed to you support you at level 1 and 2 to gain valuable short BTEC qualifications and other relevant accreditation which enable you to develop essential life and work skills needed for future success.

What Next? This programme will allow you to continue your learning by moving on to a further education NVQ or BTEC course level 2 or demonstrate that you have developed skills that equip you for success in employment. The qualifications are recognised by employers.

Course: Children’s Play, Learning and DevelopmentLevel: 2Award: BTEC Course Board/Code: Edexcel 600/7865/0 Location: Trinity

Course Description: If you are planning to work with children in a variety of different early years services, this is the course for you. This qualification will enable you to work, supervised, with children and their families in a variety of settings. Course Description: The Level 1 course in construction is a practical, engaging course that teaches the skills and techniques necessary to work in the field of construction. The course is taught in specialist industry-standard workshops so you will gain hands-on practical skills. The course consists of 3 core units, as well as two personal skills units. Parallel to the core units you will have the opportunity to study specialist units, which may include; producing a timber product, developing bricklaying skills, developing plumbing skills, developing painting and decorating skills, developing electrical installation skills and developing building maintenance skills.

What Next? This course is intended to provide a foundation for further study within construction, including progression to the Level 2 course in construction.
