History, part 1
• 1871: new tobaco factory, biggest in Ljubljana, goodand large employer
• a town within a town, rich cultural and social life
• after WWII: modernisation, Administration buildingsold to ISKRA electronic company
• 1991: privatisation of Tobačna factory - sold to international tobacco corporations
• 1992, privatisation of ISKRA offices at Administrationbuilding on Tobačna 2 starts
• 2004, the production of tobacco stops

• 2006, design competiotion for redevelopment
• 2007, Project „Tobačna city“ starts: demolishing of severalbuildings, construction of 11 highrise appartmentbuildings
• 2009, IPoP rents an office at Tobačna 2
• 2013, reconstruction starts but stops due to thebankrupcy of the developer
• Tobačna 2, the ex Administration building keeps operating
• 2015 cultural festivals start happening at Tobačna 2
• 2017, Tobačna 2 is declared local cultural monument
• 2019, new buyer of the Tobačna City apears
2009, IPoP at Tobačna 2
• 2009, IPoP rents an office• the Tobačna 2 gets known for the ateliers and working
spaces• 2012, IPoP organises first urban walk - Jane‘s Walk –
starting at Tobačna 2 walking around the constructionsite
• 2015, artists organise first local inhouse cultural festival named Open ateliers
