What is RMP?

Ontario’sRiskManagementProgram(RMP)helpsproducersmanagerisksbeyondtheircontrol,likefluctuatingcostsandmarketprices.Theprogramisavailableforthecattle,ediblehorticulture,grainandoilseed,hog,sheepandvealsectors.

Amaximumof$100millioninannualfundingisavailablethroughRMP.Traditionally,businessriskmanagementprogramsarefundedona60/40basisfromthefederalandprovincialgovernmentsrespectively.RMPisprovinciallyfundedonly,meaningtheOntariogovernmentfundsitstraditional40percentshare.The40percentfundingisreflectedinpaymentcalculationsandpremiumrates.

RMPcomplementsAgriStabilityandProductionInsurance.AgriStabilityisdesignedtostabilizewholefarmincomeandProductionInsurancehelpsmitigateproductionloss.

What is RMP for livestock?

RMPforlivestockwasdesignedinconsultationwithrepresentativesofthecattle,hog,sheepandvealindustryin Ontario.

RMPforlivestockworkslikeinsurancetohelpOntarioproducersoffsetlossescausedbyfluctuatingcommoditypricesandproductioncosts.Participantspaypremiumsbasedontheirinsuredproductionandtheirchosencoverage level.

Insuredproductionisyouranticipatedlivestock salesfortheyear.

Therearefourlivestockplans.Eachplan,exceptsheep,includesseveralcategoriesofproductionasshownbelow.Participantscanenrolinoneormoreplansandcanchoosesingleormultiplecategorieswithineachplan.

Programpaymentsaremadeifthemarketpricesforsoldlivestockfallbelowyoursupportlevel,whichisbasedontheindustryaveragecostofproducinglivestock(targetprice)andthelevelofcoverageyouchoose.

Paymentsreflectavailablefunding.Aninterimpaymentrateisusedtomakesureeverysingleproducerhasequalaccesstothefunding,whethertheytriggerapaymentatthebeginningorendoftheprogramyear.Theinterimpaymentisbasedonmarketprices,supportlevelsatthetraditionalprovincialshareof40percentandavailableRMPfunding.

RMPpremiumsarecollectedbyAgricorpandmanagedseparatelybyeachparticipatingcommoditygroup.Thecommoditygroupsusethefundstosupplementpaymentsinyearsofgreaterneed.

Eligibility

TobeeligibleforRMPforlivestockyoumust:

• produceatleastoneeligiblecategoryoflivestock in Ontario,

•beabletodemonstratelivestockownership,• enrolallofyoureligibleproductionwithinaplancategory,•paythepremium,and•havepremisesidentification(newparticipants).

ToremaineligibleforRMP,payyourpremiumandsubmityourlivestocksalesreportsbytheprogramdeadlines.Evenifyouhadnosalesduringareportingperiod,youmustcontactAgricorpandreportzerosales.Failuretopayyourpremiumorsubmitasalesreportmayresultinthecancellation of your coverage.

How to participate

New participantsIfyouarenewtoRMP,orifyouwishtoenrolinanewRMPplan,youneedtosubmitanapplicationtoAgricorp.

Forgreaterconvenienceandtimelyprocessing,submityourcompletedapplicationformonline.Ifnotapplyingonline,contactAgricorpandrequestanapplication.Paperapplicationscanbesubmittedbymailorfax.Pleaseonlysubmityourapplicationonce.

Youcanapplyasasoleproprietor,unincorporatedassociation,corporation,trust,cooperative,communalorganization,partnership,limitedpartnershiporestate.Ifyouareapplyingonline,signaturesarenotrequired.


Forpartnershipsandlimitedpartnerships,youshouldsubmitonlyoneapplication,signedbyallpartners.

New farmersIfyouareanewfarmer–meaningthecommodityyouwanttoenrolhadzerofarmincomeinthepreviousyear–youcanenrolaftertheapplicationdeadlinehaspassed,providedyouapplybeforetheendofyourfirstsalesreportingperiod.

Existing participantsIfyoualreadyparticipateinRMPforlivestock,youwillreceivearenewalpackage.Youdonotneedtoreapply.Allyourpreviouscoverageinformationwillberolledoverto the current year.

Whenyoureceiveyourrenewalpackage,reviewthecategories,coveragelevelsandinsuredproduction.

AddinganewcategoryIfyouarealreadyenrolledinalivestockplan,youmayaddnewcategoriesatrenewaltime.Forexample,ifyouhavecalvesenrolledinRMP:Cattle,youcanalsoaddcoverageunderthebackgrounderandfeedlotcategories.Similarly,ifyouhavehogsenrolledintheearly-weancategory,youcanalsoaddcoverageunderthefeederandgrower/finishercategories.Toaddnewcategoriestoyourexistingplan,simplycompleteandsubmitthecoveragechangerequestformorcallAgricorp.

Adding a new planIfyouwishtoenrolinanewplanforanotherkindoflivestock,contactAgricorpfirsttofindoutifyouare eligibleandhowtoapply.Forexample,ifyouareenrolled inRMP:SheepandyouwanttoenrolinRMP:Cattle, contactAgricorp.

Youcanmakechangesby:

• submittingtheonlinecoveragechangerequestonagricorp.com,or

• fillingoutthecoveragechangerequestforminyourrenewalpackageandmailingorfaxingittoAgricorp,or

•callingAgricorp.

ContinuousparticipationThecoverageyouselecteachyearwillbeautomaticallyrolledovertothenextprogramyearusingyourenrolledcategories,

insuredproductionandyourselectedcoveragelevels.Youcanmakechangestoyourcoverageeveryyearwhenyourenew.

Participationinyourenrolledcategoriesmustbecontinuous.Ifafterafullyearofparticipation,youcancelordonotrenewinanenrolledcategory,youwillbeineligible for enrolling again in that category for the current yearplusthenexttwoyears.

Inyearswhenyouarenotproducingaparticularlivestockcategory, you can maintain enrolment in that category, withoutbeingcancelled,bysimplyreportingzeroproduction.Afterthreeconsecutiveyearsofreportingzeroproductioninacategory,yourenrolmentwillbecancelledwithoutaffectingyoureligibilityforsubsequentprogramyears.Ifyouwouldliketore-establishyourcoverage,contactAgricorp.

Your responsibilities

AswithallAgricorpprograms,youneedtoreadandunderstandtheRMPdetails,abidebytheapplicabletermsandconditions,andmeetthedeadlines,whicharepublishedinthisParticipantHandbookandaccompanyinginformationsheets.Otherrequirementsare:

• Report any changes to your business structure or farming operation,includingasignificantexpansionordecrease,orchangestothename,addressorshareholders,astheyoccur.

• NotifyAgricorpifyouexpectyourannualsalestochangebymorethan25percent.Thismeansyouractualsalesfortheyearwillbemorethan25percenthigherorlowerthanyouroriginalenrolledinsuredproduction.YouneedtonotifyAgricorpofthechangepriortothedeadlineforthenextsalesreportingperiod.Otherwise,yourcoveragemaynotbeadjustedandcouldbecancelled.

• Haveavalidpremisesidentificationnumber(premisesID).Ifyouareanexistingparticipant,AgricorpwillusethesamepremisesIDyouprovidedlastyear.Ifyourfarmlocationhaschanged,pleaseprovideAgricorpwiththecorrectpremisesIDforthenewfarmlocation.Fornewparticipants,yourapplicationcanonlybeprocessedonceyourpremisesIDisprovidedtousandverified.IfyouhavemorethanonepremisesID,providetheIDforyourhome or main farm location in Ontario.

ToobtainyourpremisesID,contacttheProvincialPremisesRegistryat1-855-697-7743orvisitwww.ontarioppr.ca.YouwillneedtoprovidetheProvincialPremisesRegistrywithyourpropertytaxassessment rollnumber(ARN)fromtheMunicipalPropertyAssessmentCorporation.


Joint venture livestock feeding arrangements Whenalivestockownerandfeederoperationsharetheproductionandmarketingrisksoflivestock,eachpartymayreporttheirshareofeligiblesales.

Inthesearrangements,eachpartytypicallysharesthecostofdeathlossesandnointerest,commissionsorfeesarechargedbetweenparties.

IftheyparticipateinAgriStability,eachparty’seligiblesalesreportedinRMPshouldcorrespondwiththeeligiblesalestheyreportedinAgriStability.Eachparty’sshareofallowableincomeshouldcorrespondtotheshareoftheallowableexpensestheyreportedinAgriStability.

How the program works

Aswithotherinsurance-likeprograms,youreceiveapaymentwhenyouincuraloss.RMPpaymentsaremadeiftheOntarioaveragemarketpriceforyoursoldlivestockestablishedbytheprogramfallsbelowyoursupportlevelduringthepaymentcalculationperiod.Yoursupportlevelisthetargetpricemultipliedbyyourchosencoveragelevelfor that livestock category.

Thetargetpricerepresentstheindustryaveragecostofproductionforeachcategory.PleaserefertotheRMP for Livestock Calculating Target and Market Prices Information Sheetfordetailsonthecurrentprogramyear’scalculationsoftargetprices.

Youmaychooseacoveragelevelof80,90or100percentofthetargetprice.

Support levelThesupportlevelisdeterminedbythetargetpricemultipliedbyyourchosencoveragelevel.TheOntarioMinistryofAgriculture,FoodandRuralAffairs(OMAFRA)calculatesthetargetpriceforeachlivestockcategory usingamethoddevelopedinconsultationwithrepresentativesofthelivestockindustry.

Thetargetpriceforeachlivestockplanisbasedonproductioncostsderivedfromrelevantfarmexpenses andproductiondataincludinglivestockpurchasecosts,

feedcosts,yardageandlabour.Formostlivestockcategories,thetargetpriceisupdatedregularlythroughouttheyear.Forcow-calfandsheep,thetargetpriceiscalculatedannuallyatthebeginningoftheyear.

Market pricesMarketpricesforeachlivestockcategoryarecollectedweeklyandaggregatedoverthereportingperiodforeachlivestockcategorytodetermineanaveragemarketpriceforthelivestockcategory’spaymentperiod.AdditionaldetailsaboutthedataandmethodusedfordeterminingmarketpricesarepublishedintheRMP for Livestock Calculating Target and Market Prices Information Sheetwhichisavailableonagricorp.comorbycontactingAgricorp.

PremiumsPremiumratesarebasedonthelivestockcategoryandyourchosencoveragelevel.Annualpremiumsforyourinsuredproductionarecalculatedatthebeginningofeachyearandcanbepaidinfullorsemi-annuallywhenyoureceive the invoice.

Yourannualpremiumiscalculatedusingoneoftwoformulas,dependingonthelivestockcategory:

Premium rate x number of head enrolled

OR

Premium rate x total eligible weight gain enrolled

Customerswhoseannualpremiumislessthan$200willautomaticallybeinvoicedannually.Thepremiummustbepaidbeforeapaymentisissued.Failuretopaythepremiummayresultinthecancellationofyourcoverage.

RMPpremiumsarecollectedbyAgricorpandmanagedseparatelybyeachlivestockcommoditygroup.Thecommoditygroupswillusethefundstosupplementpaymentstoproducersinyearsofgreaterneed.Formoreinformation,pleasecontactyourcommoditygroup.

Premium adjustmentsYourpremiumisbasedonyourinsuredproductionfortheprogramyear.Ifyouractualsalesdifferfromyourinsuredproductionoverthecourseoftheyear(eitheranincreaseoradecrease),yourpremiummaybeadjustedasshowninthefollowingtable.


Ifreportedsalesdiffer from insured productionby:

Premium adjustment

5% or less Nopremiumadjustments aremade.

Over 5% to 25% Premiums are automatically adjustedbyAgricorpatyear-end;youwillreceiveeither apremiumrebate(ifyour salesdecreased)oraninvoice (ifyoursalesincreased).

More than 25% ContactAgricorpimmediatelyifyouexpectyourannualsalestoincreaseordecreasebymorethan 25%.

PaymentsPaymentstoparticipantsaretriggeredwhentheaveragemarketpriceforsoldlivestockfallsbelowthesupportlevelduringthepaymentcalculationperiod.

Paymentratesarebasedon:

• Thedifferencebetweenthemarketpricesandsupportlevelsatthe40percentprovincialshare

•AvailablefundingfortheRiskManagementProgram

Paymentsarecalculatedusinganinterimrate,soproducerswhotriggerpaymentsatdifferenttimesduringtheyearhavethesameaccesstofunding.Astheprogramyearprogresses,theinterimpaymentratemaybeadjusted.

Thepaymentschedulebelowshowsthepaymentsandadjustmentsyoumaybeeligibletoreceive.

PaymentschedulePaymentsareissuedsemi-annuallyforcow-calfandsheepproducersandthreetimesayearforallotherlivestockcategories.Anadditionalyear-endpaymentmaybemade,ifapplicable,dependingonremainingfunding.RMPpaymentsareconsideredincomeforincometaxpurposes.AgricorpissuesAGR-1statementsforincometax annually.

Programpaymentsmaynotbeassignedtoathirdparty.

OMAFRAandAgricorphaveabsolutediscretiontorefuseorwithholdanypaymentstoanyparticipant.

Paymentschedule


LinktoAgriStabilitypaymentsAgriStabilityisanimportantpartofacomprehensivesuiteofprograms.Itprotectsyoufromlargedeclinesinyourfarmingincomecausedbyproductionloss,increasedcostsormarketconditions.Visitagricorp.comformoreinformation.

Startingin2015,youcanchooseifyouwantAgriStabilitycoverage, as it is no longer an eligibility requirement for RMP.Youwillneedtoconsiderwhatprogramsbestsuittheneedsofyourfarm.

IfyouchoosetoparticipateinAgriStability,yourRMPpaymentiscountedasanadvanceontheprovincialportionofyourAgriStabilitypaymentforthecorrespondingprogramyear.YoukeepthegreateroftheRMPpaymentortheprovincialportionoftheAgriStabilitypayment.BecauseRMPisprovinciallyfunded,ithasnoimpactonthefederalportionofAgriStabilitypayments.

IfyouparticipateinmorethanoneRMPplan,thesum ofallRMPpaymentswillbeoffsetagainstyourAgriStability payments.

Off-calendaryear-endsDependingonyouryear-end,theAgriStabilityprogramyearmaynotcoincidewiththeRMPyearasshownintheexamplebelow.

PaymentcapsRMPpaymentsforeachlivestockcategoryarecappedat$1.2millionperparticipant,perprogramyear.Forexample,ifyouparticipateinthecow-calfandthefeedlotcategoriesunderRMP:Cattleandthegrower/finishercategoryunderRMP:Hogs,yourpaymentforeachofthethreecategoriesiscappedat$1.2million.

TheRMPcapisappliedtoeachcategory’stotalpaymentfortheentireyearbeforecalculatinganyapplicableadjustmentstoAgriStabilitypayments.

Ininstanceswherethepaymentcapforaparticipantisreached,theparticipantmaybeentitledtoapartialrefundoftheirpremium.

Balances owed to the Crown

AgricorpisrequiredtorecoverbalancesowedtotheCrown,includinganyRMPoverpayments.Overpaymentsmayoccurasaresultofincompleteprogramapplications,processingerrors,changestofarmoperationsandthenatureofadvancepaymentstoproducersinfinancialdistress.

Ifyouhaveabalanceowing,youmustrepayit,includinginterest,withinthreeyearsofwhenyouwerenotifiedofthedebt.Youmustalsosubmitarepaymentplan.Interestischargedonoutstandingbalancesthatareowedformorethan30days.

Agricorpalsorecoversoverpaymentsfromanyotherprogramsfromwhichyoumaybeeligibletoreceivefunding.RMPoverpaymentscanberecoveredfromotherprogramspayments,andotherprogramoverpaymentsmayberecoveredfromyourRMPpayment.


Program terms and conditions

BankruptcyordeathIntheeventofthebankruptcyordeathoftheparticipant,Agricorpneedstobecontactedsoprogramcoveragecanbeproperlyfinalized.

Farm saleIfyousellyourfarmingoperation,yourparticipationinRMPforlivestockiscancelled.Ifyouonlysellpartofyouroperation,thatpartofyourcoverageiscancelled.ContactAgricorpintheeventofanyfarmsale.

CollectingandprotectingyourinformationInformationcollectedunderRMPforlivestockisusedbyAgricorptoadministertheprogramonbehalfofOMAFRA.Informationcollectedmaybeusedanddisclosedtoadminister,auditandevaluatetheprogram.ThisincludessharinginformationwithOMAFRAandanyotherentityrequiredtoadministertheprogram.Agricorpmayalsousethisinformationtoadministerorauditothercostsharedandprovinciallyorfederallysubsidizedprograms.SocialinsurancenumbersandbusinessnumbersarecollectedandusedonlytomakeprogrampaymentsandaresharedwiththeCanadaRevenueAgencytoissuetaxreceiptsforpaymentsand,wherenecessary,forauditsandcollectingoverpayments.Ifyouhavequestions,

OMAFRAorAgricorpmaydiscloseanyinformationasobligatedundertheFreedomofInformationandProtectionofPrivacyAct,R.S.O.1990,c.F.31,byanorderofthecourtortribunal,orpursuanttoalegalproceeding.

Retaining recordsYoumustretainallinvoices,receiptsandproductionrecordsrelatingtothelivestockcoveredbytheprogramforaperiodofsixyears.YoumustmakethesedocumentsavailabletoAgricorpintheeventofaninvestigation,inspection,auditortodetermineanymatterrelatedtoRMPforlivestock.

Right of accessWhenyouenrolinRMPforlivestock,youacceptthatAgricorphastherighttoaccessyourproductionandfinancialrecords,aswellasrecordsheldbythirdparties,including,butnotlimitedto,commodityboards,associationsandorganizations,grainelevatorsandprocessors.

Agricorpalsohastherightofreasonableentrytoalllandsorfacilitiesyouuse,ownorlease,orhaveothercontrolordirectionover,inordertosurvey,audit,inspect,estimateandexamineyour:

• Eligiblelivestock• Inventoryandproduction•Otherinformationthatisorshouldbeinyourrecords.

Requesting a reviewIfyoudisagreewithadecisionaboutyourfile,apaymentoryoureligibilityforanyoftheRMPforlivestockplans,pleasecontactAgricorp.Youhave90calendardaysfromreceivingapaymentornoticetoraisetheissue.

Agricorpwillreviewandassesstheissue.Iftheassessmentisnotsatisfactory,youmayrequestareviewbytheBusinessRiskManagementReviewCommittee(BRMRC).Yourwrittenrequestmustbesubmittedwithin90calendardaysofreceivingthewrittenassessmentfromAgricorp.Thisrequestmustcontain:

• Thenatureoftherequestforthereview• Thegroundsthatyouintendtorelyonduringtherequest• Theinformationanddocumentationthatyouwillrelyonduringthereview.

TheBRMRCwillmakenon-bindingrecommendationstoAgricorpregardingyourreview.Agricorpmayaccepttherecommendationsinfullorinpart,ormaydeclinetofollowtherecommendations.Thereisnofurtherrightofreviewprocess.

AnAgricorprepresentativecanprovideyouwithinformationonhowtomakearequesttoBRMRC.Forfullparticularsinvolvedinrequestingareview,refertoOrders-in-CouncilNos.1309/2011and1310/2011,asamended,aswellastheprogramguidelines.

Consequencesofnon-complianceandmisconductIfyoudonotmeettherequirementsoftheprogram,yourcoveragewillbecancelled.Youwillalsohavetorepayanyorallpaymentsyoureceivedundertheprogramthatarenotinaccordancewiththeeligibilityrequirementssetoutintheapplicationmaterial,theguidelines,thisparticipanthandbookand/orthelawsofOntarioandCanada.Repaymentsareduewithin30calendardaysofthedateofAgricorp’snoticetoyou.Failuretomakerepaymentcreates adebttotheCrownthatcanberecoveredagainstanymoneytheCrownowesyou.

Coveragecanbecancelledifyouinanyway:

•Givefalseormisleadinginformation•Failtomeetprogramrequirements•Commitfraud.

Ifyourcoverageiscancelledforanyreason,youarenoteligibletoapplyagainforthecurrentyear,plusthefollowingtwoyears.

• Enrolinallthecategoriesthatapplytothecattle youwillsell.

Forexample,ifyouhaveacow-calftofeedlotoperation,youmaychooseallthreecategoriesinordertobepaid foralltheeligibleweightgainfrombirthtoslaughter. Ifyousellonlyheifercalvesupto500pounds,thenchoosethecow-calfcategoryandenrolthenumberofcalves youexpecttosell.

Pleasebeawarethatbyselectingacategoryforcoverage,youarerequiredtoenrol,paythepremiumandreportallyoureligiblecattlesaleswithinthatcategory.Youwillbeeligibleforpaymentonlyunderyourchosencategories.

• IfyouareenrollingintheRMPplanforcattleforthefirsttime,youmustfilloutanapplicationform.

2.Selectcategory−Choosethespecificcattlecategoriesinwhichyouwishtoenrol.Considertheanimalsyoutypicallysell,theiraveragesaleweights,andhowmuchofthatweightyouproduced.Ifyoutypicallysellcattleat1,500poundsandraisethemfrombirth,youmayenrolin all three categories. If you usually sell cattle at 1,500 poundsbutpurchasethemat900pounds,youwouldenrolinthefeedlotcategoryonly.

3. Selectyourcoveragelevel−Youmaychoosea

coveragelevelof80,90or100percentforeachlivestockcategory.Youmaychooseadifferentcoveragelevelforeachcategory.Yoursupportlevelisthetargetpriceforthelivestockcategorymultipliedbyyourchosencoveragelevel.

4.Recordyourprojectedsales−Completetheprojectedsaleschartbyenteringyouranticipatedcattlesalesfortheyearforeachofyourchosencategories.Todetermineaveragesaleweightforeachcategory,takethetotalweightforallcattleyouexpecttosellanddividebythenumberofhead.Theaveragesaleweightshouldcloselycorrespondtotheweightrangesshownbelow.

EligiblecattleCattlethatmeetallofthefollowingrequirements areeligible:

Forthegrower/finishercategoryOnlyhogsover87.5kilogramsliveweightthataresoldforslaughterareeligibleforpayment.

Grower/finisherpaymentsarecalculatedonaper-kilogramweightgainbasis,uptoamaximumof134kilogramsweightgainperhog(themaximumloadaverageweightof159kilogramsliveweightminusthedeemedstartingweightof25kilograms).Forexample,ahogweighing175kilogramscanonlybepaidforweightgainupto159kilograms.Anyadditionalweightgainbeyondthemaximumisnotcovered.

Theminimumeligiblesaleweighttotriggerapaymentinthegrower/finishercategoryis87.5kilogramsliveweight.Grower/finisherhogsweighinglessthan87.5kilograms(e.g.,barbecuepigs)andbreedingstockmaybeeligibleforpaymentunderthefeedercategory.

RMP:Vealcoverstheeligiblevealcalvesthatyousellduringthecurrentprogramyear.Toreceivecoverageforallyourvealsales,youmustenrolallofthevealcalvesyouexpecttosellthroughoutthecurrentprogramyear.YourexpectedsaledatemustfallbetweenJanuary1andDecember31ofthecurrentprogramyear.

Pleasebeawarethatbyselectingacategoryforcoverage,youarerequiredtoenrolallofyourproduction,paythepremiumandreportallofyoureligiblevealsaleswithinthatcategory.Youwillbeeligibleforpaymentonlyunderyourchosencategories.

Forexample,ifyouhave50eligiblegrain-fedvealcalvesthatweigh720poundsand10grain-fedvealcalvesthatweigh750pounds,yourpaymentwillbecalculatedasfollows:

• Fullpaymentratefor50calvesweighing720pounds(individualliveweight)

• Fullpaymentrateforfivecalves(10%of50)weighing 750pounds(individualliveweight)

• Nopaymentfortheotherfivecalvesweighing750pounds(individualliveweight)

Ifthenumberofoverweightanimalsforthequarterexceedsthe1:10ratio,thefirstreportedsalewillbeusedforcalculatingpaymentsuntilthemaximumratiohasbeenreached.Theseanimalswillbepaidatthepaymentratefortheweektheyweresold.

Usingtheaboveexample,thefirstfiveanimalssoldinthequarterwillbepaidatthepaymentratefortheweektheyweresold.Allanimalswillneedtobeweighedindividuallytobeeligible.


PaymentsPaymentsareissuedforyoursoldvealcalveswhentheaveragemarketpricefallsbelowthesupportlevelduringthepaymentcalculationperiod.Theaveragemarketpriceandsupportlevelarecalculatedseparatelyforeachvealcategory.Eachcategoryalsohasaseparatepaymentcalculation.

Forbothgrain-fedandmilk-fedveal:

• Paymentratesarecalculatedeveryweekandaccumulatedintoasinglepaymentissuedthree times a year.

• Boththesupportlevelsandthemarketpricesarecalculatedeveryweek,andwillvaryfromweektoweekdependingonfluctuatingcommodityprices.Thesupportlevelsandmarketpricesarebasedonthereporteddateofsale.

Dressedweight

Cattle:Thecarcassorrailweightofaslaughtered steerorheifer.Forheifers,dressedweightis58.5percentofliveweight;forsteers,dressedweightis60percent ofliveweight.

Hogs:Thecarcassweightofaslaughteredhog.Dressedweightis80percentoftheliveweightwiththeheadon,and74percentofliveweightwiththeheadoff.

Sheep:Thecarcassweightofaslaughteredlamb.Dressedweightis56percentoftheliveweightwiththeheadon,and53percentoftheliveweightwiththeheadoff.

Veal:Thecarcassorrailweightofaslaughteredvealcalf.Dressedweightis54.5percentoftheliveweightforagrain-fedcalfand58.5percentofliveweightforamilk-fedcalf.

EligibleproductionTheproductionorweightgainofOntario-grownlivestockwithintheallowableweightrangesofacategory,andcoveredbytheprogram.

EligiblesaleAcommercialtransactioninwhichpossessionofananimalistransferred.Salesmusttakeplacewithinthecurrentprogramyear.Eligiblesalesdonotincludethetransferofcondemnedanimalsordeadstock.Transferoftitle(legalownership)forthepurposeofsecurityofinterestisnotconsideredaneligiblesale.

InsuredproductionAnestimateofthetotaleligibleproductionpercategorythattheparticipantplanstosellduringtheprogramyear.

LiveweightTheactualweightofananimalnotyetslaughtered(beforeanydeductionsareapplied)ortheconvertedweightofacarcassafterprogramdressedweightpercentagesareapplied.Participantsmustreportactualcarcassweightsorliveweights-whicheverisshownonthesalesreceipt.
