Transcript of Part Two: Did You Know War Affects Children’s Education This Badly?
By: John Slifko
War disrupts the normaltrajectory of children's lives,
due to the fact that tens ofthousands of children areforced out of their schools
during these times.
Children who might havefinished high school by the ageof 18 are now child soldiers or
have been in refugee camps forso long that they have no
education at all.
Getting a propereducation can keep war
from happening incertain areas by makingthe area more civilized.
Education is massivelyimportant, and it’s time tostart facing the facts abouthow it is affecting our civil
society as a whole.
LEAVINGSCHOOL
Many children are forcedto run for their lives, asthey are in immediatedanger for trying to
attend school. This splitsapart families and causeschildren to have to startworking to provide forthemselves or to joinarmies themselves to
survive.
Refugee camps do notstart out with
educational facilities inthem. Those that have
some educationalresources are fortunate
but have them inextremely small
quantities.
LIVING INREFUGEE CAMPS
CREATING ANUNDERDEVELOPED
COUNTRYAccording to the Peace Pledge
Union, “As the conflict continueswithout an end in sight andhumanitarian organisations
continue to struggle to provide theimmediate material needs of the
victims of the war, it is increasinglypossible that a whole generation
might be left without a basiceducation. This turn of events alonewill plummet a developed countryinto an underdeveloped country.”
This slowly starts todeteriorate a country’s
ability to conductbusiness, plummetingthe economy further
and further down.
