Most of our courses don’t require interviews - you can simply sign up and start. Where a course does require an interview, you’ll see this symbol alongside the course title in this handbook.

You’re most likely to see interviews attached to ourprofessional qualifications.

Our courses start throughout the year, and you can enrol on most of these at any time.

Financial support

Advanced Learner Loan

If you’re 19 or older, you can now apply for an Advanced Learner Loan from the Government to help with the cost of your college course.

Am I eligible?To be eligible for the loan, you must be: • 19 or older on the first day of your course (there’s no upper age limit) • Living in the UK on the first day of your course, and for a minimum of three years before • Studying a Level 3, 4, 5 or 6 qualification

How much can I apply for?The amount you can receive depends on: • The type of course • Your course fees • The maximum loan available for your course

The minimum loan you can get is £300, but you don’t have to borrow the full cost of your course fee - you can pay for some of it yourself if you prefer.

You may also be eligible for support towards travel, childcare and other course costs. Contact our Student Support team for more information.

How can I apply?You can apply online or by post. You’ll need a ‘learning and funding information letter’ from us and some proof of identity, as well as your National Insurance Number in order for the loan to be paid.

Payment plans

For UK students studying a course costing upwards of £250 and lasting for a full academic year, we may be able to offer a payment plan. This will involve a deposit being taken, followed by a monthly direct debit from October - June.

Apprenticeships

The most important thing to know about an apprenticeship is that it is a real job, with training. You’ll earn while you learn and pick up new skills and nationally-recognised qualifications as you go. You’ll be employed in your chosen profession, learning on the job for a minimum of 30 hours a week.

You might choose to start an apprenticeship straight from school, as a new venture, or having completed some technical training in your chosen area already.
