How to fill out this statement
STEP 1
Read about the skills, knowledge and experience that you need to demonstrate if you are applying for registration in the class of Commercial Builder (Unlimited).
STEP 2
Fill out table 1 and table 2, to tell us about your general experience carrying out commercial building work.
STEP 3
Fill out table 3, to tell us about three specific projects that demonstrate your experience in commercial building work.
STEP 4
Read table 4. It explains the types of evidence that you should use to demonstrate all your experience, including the experience noted in table 3. You need to present your evidence portfolio when you lodge your application.

Please include as much detail as possible, because this statement will be used to work out whether you have enough experience for registration.
In your application, you will need to provide references to confirm you have completed this work.

Step 1. Learn about skills, knowledge and experience that you need
Knowledge
If you are applying to be registered in the class of Commercial Builder (Unlimited) and you have successfully completed one of the following qualifications that include units of competency relevant to the construction of commercial buildings/structures of Type A, B and C construction:
· Bachelor of Construction Management and Economics from Holmesglen Institute
· Bachelor of Building (Construction Management) from Victoria University
· Bachelor of Applied Science (Construction Management) from RMIT University
· Bachelor of Construction Management (Honours) from Deakin University,
· Advanced Diploma of Building and Construction (Management) (CPC60212)
then you will satisfy the knowledge requirements for registration.
If you have successfully completed one of the following qualifications, you will satisfy some of the knowledge requirements for registration:
· Diploma of Building and Construction (Building) (CPC50210)
· Diploma of Building and Construction (Management) (CPC50308).
The diploma qualifications include units of competency relevant to Type B and Type C construction, limited to a maximum of three storeys. They do not include units of competency relevant to Type A construction or buildings above three storeys.
Experience
To assist in our assessment of whether you have the required experience for registration in this class of building practitioner, you must provide a portfolio of evidence (tables 1, 2 and 3) that demonstrates your experience.
This portfolio should demonstrate your capacity to undertake all the activities associated with the class of Commercial Builder (Unlimited) in a competent manner and to a professional standard.
Your portfolio should include evidence of:
· your experience in the areas that you tick in table 1 and table 2
· three different commercial construction projects that together demonstrate your involvement in all stages of commercial building work, from project start to completion (table 3).
Across the three projects, you should include:
· at least two buildings greater than 25 metres in height
· construction of a basement of at least two levels, and
· at least one Class 9 building, or a building with a portion that is classified as Class 9.
Finally, table 4 provides examples of the types of documentary evidence of your experience that you could provide.
‘Class’ refers to the class of building as classified in the Building Code of
Australia (see Part A3 of Volume 1).
‘Type of construction’ refers to the type of fire-resisting construction required for different building classes by the rise in storeys, as specified in the Building Code of Australia (see Part C1 of Volume 1).

Copies of relevant building surveyor inspection reports certifying the works undertaken
Copies of building notices for which you were responsible for arranging work to meet a compliance requirement
