Symptom

Reproducing the Issue

In transaction OADB Depreciation area, the following is defined :-

where 0L is the leading ledger and L1 is non-leading ledger.

When you perform an APC posting (eg ABZON), system will post to ALL LEDGERS even though leading ledger 0L is defined in depreciation area 01. System will also post to non-leading ledger L1 as per customizing in depreciation area 02.

Therefore, there will be double/duplicate posting for non leading ledger L1.

Cause

The problem is due to technical limitations.

Resolution

For depreciation area 01, system post to ALL ledgers regardless of target ledger defined in depreciation area (transaction OADB). This is system design and there is no program error.

To resolve the issue, a delta depreciation area has to be defined. eg depreciation area 03.

For example :

When an acquisition is posted for EUR1,000, depreciation area 01 and 02 will have an APC value for EUR1,000 each. Depreciation area 01 will post to ALL ledgers. This means that ledger 0L and L1 will each have APC of EUR1,000 posted.

For depreciation area 02, posting to GL is 3 (Area Posts Depreciation Only). Hence, NO APC posting will be made to ledger L1. This will prevent duplicate posting to non-leading ledger L1.

Derived depreciation area 03 is defined as the difference between area 02 and 01 (ie area 02 - area 01). Since area 02 and 01 both have APC values of EUR1,000, the difference will be zero. ie

=Area02(APC)- Area 01 (APC) =EUR1,000- EUR1,000 =EUR0

Since derived depreciation area 03 post APC only and APC value is zero, there will be no posting to ledger L1.

So, the end results is that both ledger 0L and ledger L1 have APC of EUR1,000.

In summary :-

Area01-> Post APC to ledger 0L and L1 Area02-> Does not post APC Area03-> No posting to ledger L1 since difference of APC is zero.
