roton-on-Hudson is a community rich in natural beauty. Its rugged topographyand location on both the Hudson and Croton Rivers provide a dramatic

landscape with parks and open spaces that offer a wide range of passive and activeoutdoor activities. There are nearly 13 miles of wooded trails in the village. Thisguide provides a map and description of the village’s parks, open spaces and trails.

SENASQUAPARK: This Hudson River waterfront park is open to village residents

and their guests. Senasqua Park provides picnic facilities and a play area. Special per-

mits are required for group picnics.

BOATMARINA: Adjacent to Senasqua Park, the marina operates from May to mid-

October. Mooring space is available by permit to residents and non-residents. Sailing

lessons are offered by the Croton Sailing School.

ECHOCANOEBOATLAUNCH: Located behind the village garage and salt shed, this

area provides a launching area for cartop boats only.

SILVER LAKE: Located alongside the Croton River at the end of Truesdale Drive,

this facility is open to village residents and their guests for swimming during the sum-

mer season. Permits or daily fees are required.

CROTON LANDING: This park stretches over a mile along the Hudson River and is

located north of Senasqua Park beyond the Yacht Club. It includes the RiverWalk Trail,

an athletic field and restroom, and a 9/11 memorial.

DOBBS PARK: Maple Street (Rt 129). This park is the home of Little League and

includes a basketball court and play area.

DUCK POND PARK: Bungalow Road off So. Riverside Ave. This park provides a

ballfield, basketball court, play area and pond for ice-skating.

FIREFIGHTERS MEMORIALFIELD: Located behind the CETElementary School

off Alexander Lane, provides a lighted softball field.

DAVID J. MANES MEMORIALFIELD: Located down the hill from Firefighters

field; this is a multi-purpose ball field.

SUNSETPARK: Sunset & Lexington Dr. The Park has a play area for young children.

HARRISON STREETPARK: Located at the corner of Harrison Street and Route 129.

This small park provides a play area for young children.

BLACK ROCK PARK: Located on Quaker Bridge Road along the Croton River, this

park is a lovely spot to fish, stroll or have a picnic.

VASSALLO PARK: Located in the heart of the Upper Village, this park has an

outdoor stage, and hosts special events throughout the year.

CROTON POINTPARK: Known as the ‘Crown Jewel of the Hudson’, this 504 acre

County-operated park offers many activities including tent and RVcamping, picnicking,

hiking and nature study, and a swimming beach. Special events such as concerts,

festivals, craft shows, historical and nature interpretive walks are held year round.

PARADISE ISLAND: This undeveloped 22-acre island is located in the Croton River

and is best accessed by canoe or kayak.

BRINTON BROOK SANCTUARY: A156-acre Audubon preserve contains over

three miles of trails, is accessed from a small private drive off Albany Post Road

North posted with a sign. Asmall parking area is located at the trailhead.

GRAFF SANCTUARY: This 29-acre Audubon preserve is accessed from either

Furnace Dock Road or the end of Briggs Lane. For more info on Saw Mill River

JANE E. LYTLE MEMORIALARBORETUM: A20.4 acre preserve contains a loop

trail system and connects to the Village’s Highland Trail. An access road across

Hudson National Golf Course is open during daylight hours and leads to a small park-

ing lot. For more information, go to www.crotonarboretum.org.

KAPLAN’S POND: An 8.5 acre village owned property at Lounsbury Road, is a

unique natural site with a small pond and wetlands area.

CROTON GORGE AREA: Many trails traverse this 22 acre wooded, undeveloped

village-owned area situated at the crest of the Croton River ravine between CET

School and the Croton Gorge Trail.

The Croton Gorge Trailis a half-mile wooded trail that follows the Croton River

ravine. It is accessible from either the Silver Lake parking lot or at the end of

Cleveland Drive. Aspur trail takes you down to the historic Quaker Bridge over the

Croton River and up to the Old Croton Aqueduct Trailwayin Cortlandt.

The Waterfront Esplanadeis a paved path at Half Moon Bay, and is open to Croton

residents. Parking is available at the gatehouse.

The Highland Trailis a scenic wooded trail that skirts the Hudson National Golf

Course reaching one of the highest points in Croton, offering sweeping panoramic

views of the Hudson River. It ties into trails at Brinton Brook Sanctuary and the

Arboretum. The trailheads are accessed from either the end of Arrowcrest Road, or

the Arboretum during daylight hours.

The Crossiningis a one-mile paved path that crosses the Croton River, providing a

bicycle/pedestrian connection between Croton and Ossining. It runs parallel to Route

9 between Croton Point Ave. and North Highland Ave.

The Westchester RiverWalkbegins at the Crossining, travels west over the Croton

Point Avenue Bridge and then north to the end of Croton Landing. Parts of the trail

have a separate pedestrian/bicycle path and parts travel along the road.

The Upper Village Trail Loop(1.75 miles) starts across from the Municipal Building

and brings you out at Symphony Knolls on Mount Airy Road
