She’s back by popular demand and will entertain you with her talented band with hits from Van Halen, Jimmy Hendrix, Pat Bentar, Boston and more. Get ready to rock, the quiet corner of CT will not be quiet to- night! Bring your appetite, the PTO is on board to serve grinders, chips and a drink! JULY 16 th THE BOOGALOO BRASS BAND The BBB’s repertoire includes a variety of New Orleans styles, such as Traditional Jazz, (Dixieland) Funk, Blues, 2nd line, Latin Brass, Rock, Jazz and Cajun. Re- cently, they have added other horn bands hits from groups like Stevie Wonder, and Tower of Power. The six piece BBB features a female vocalist, backed by trumpet, trombone, sax/clarinet, keyboard (with bass/tuba) and drums. Living Proof Church will be providing food this evening! JULY 23rd NIGHT SHIFT This really fun 60s 70s and 80s cover band features 5 of Connecticut’s most well-known and experienced musicians. Kenny Hicks of Coventry makes sure their playlist includes the most popular songs that audiences of all ages love to listen to, dance to and sing along with. In fact, they say “If you’re not having the BEST time, then you’re not listening to NIGHTSHIFT” On the menu tonight is Taco Salad provided by the Republican Town Committee! JULY 30th MOTO This 5 piece group will spice up our series a bit with a variety of Carribean, Reggae, and Soca dance music from some of the greats like Bob Marley. Their tunes are up tempo grooves that give you that island feel! They’ll have you day dreaming about Montego Bay and wanting to put the lime in the coconut. Ashford Parks and Recreation will serve their BBQ this evening with pulled pork sandwiches, cole- slaw, corn on the cob, ice tea, limeade & dessert! Adults $8, Children $5 (12 and under). AUGUST 6 th THE GREAT HILL MOUNTAIN BAND This collection of family and life-long friends love to share the joy of music with their audience. Together since 1993, GHMB has played at clubs, fairs, parties, and festivals from Connecticut to Maine. Multi-year winners of the Connecticut Country Music Association's Band of the Year and Vocal Group of the Year awards, GHMB is known for their energy, enthusiasm, and tight 3- and 4-part harmonies. They play a mix of modern Texas-style country as well as southern and classic rock tunes that will keep you dancing! The Ashford Democrats famous kielbasa/hotdog meal is on the menu. Theres a few seats remaining on the 4TH of JULY bus trip to TANGLEWOOD for the JAMES TAYLOR CONCERT! Bus leaves the Tolland Commuter Lot at 2 p.m. and returns about midnight. There are fireworks after the show! You may purchase dinner there or bring in your own coolers, with food, wine etc. Bus and lawn ticket

are $65 pp. Register now! Concert usually sells out!

Tour MARTHA’S VINEYARD- SAT. AUG. 11TH , includes coach bus, ferry and a 3 1/2 hour guided bus tour of this story book island featuring its unique beauty and

Many thanks to the Ashford School Readiness Council for funding the NEW SWING SET at Ashford Memorial Park. We’d also like to thank the Public Works Dept. for their good work installing it. It is now ready for use by our day campers and all the kids out of school for the summer!

We Believe All Kids Should go to Summer Camp and Fortunately So Does the Lions Club!

SCHOLARSHIP FUNDING has been renewed and funds are available for camperships and our recreation programs. Those who need assistance should inquire and apply to [email protected] , THANK YOU LIONS CLUB! Garth Bean will return to run Bike Camp now in its 10th year! Kids age 4 and up are welcome! At camp they’ll practice pedaling, balancing, steering , and have fun with some contests and challenges. Each rider needs to bring their own bike and helmet each day. Fee: $50

Tiny House Makers Do you enjoy using your imagination to create new and fun mod-

els? In this class you will design a small house. You will use a low cut cardboard box as the base for your house. You will draw your floor plan, and use a foam core to create the walls and shell for

the house. Then you will finish with flooring, wall paper, furniture and more. This Art Class is geared for students in grades 4—6, and will meet on Tues. & Weds. at 1 pm on July 2, 3, 9,10, 16, &

17 in the air conditioned Warrenville Post Office. Instructor Sharon Punty, Fee: $50

GIRL POWER FITNESS CAMP What is Girl Power? It’s the power that girls have to be the best they can be!

One Week Camp for Girls in Grades 5-8 Dates: August 12th—August 16th Hours: 8:30-4:30 Price: $150 Location: Ashford Memorial Park, & Pompey Hollow Park, Knowlton Town Hall and the air conditioned Warrenville Post Office. Leaders: Sherry York and guest presenters.

Come join us for some summer sports, games and fun! Where girls can try some new activities, build their confidence and make friends. We will provide a healthy snack each day, you will need to bring your own lunch. There will be lots of time for favorite activities like kick ball, capture the flag , an obstacle course, arts and crafts and swimming. We will take a day trip, use kayaks, hike, do some yoga, play tennis, and try a Cross Fit workout. We will make smoothies, discuss nutrition, emotional health, and do some gymnastics and dancing. Mark your calendar now, (10 pp min, 14 max)
