NIGHT SAFETY SERVICES
Night Safety Shuttle nightsafety.berkeley.edu/nightsafety/nightshuttlesThe night safety shuttle is a campus-run service available for free to all Berkeley students. There are two different routes with their own pickup locations around campus and schedules. They run in a more extensive area than Bearwalk, and are more viable for students living further away from campus. To ride, just show the driver your Cal ID.
North Side RouteThere are two North Route shuttles that have their own pickup/dropoff locations. Each shuttle starts running from 7:45pm to 2:30am on weekdays and Sunday, and from 6:45 to 2:30am on Saturdays. It runs on approx. 30 minute intervals.
South Side RouteSouth route runs from 7:30pm to 2:30pm on Weekdays, 6:30pm to 4:00am on Saturdays, and 6:30pm to 2:30am on Sundays. It runs on approx. 15 minute intervals.
Door to Door Servicesnightsafety.berkeley.edu/nightsafety/door2doorIntended to bridge the gap between Bearwalk/Safety Shuttle and regular public transit from the earliest morning hours, UCPD offers a door-to-door service in order to get you home safe when other methods fail! They will pick you up via squad car and drop you off safe at home. Service runs from 3:00 am to 5:00am, and students can be picked up within the same borders as BearWalk. Students can request door-to-door service through the same link: https://bearwalk.
Night Safety Shuttle service area. Please call 15 minutes before your actual pickup time. You can be dropped off anywhere within the blue border.
BearWalk service boundary area.
nightsafety.berkeley.edu/nightsafety/escort Student-run and UCPD-organized community resource effort to escourt students from campus to their residences safely. After a walk request is made, the UCPD dispatches Community Service Officers, paid student volunteers, to the location of the request to walk you home. You can request a walk, online or by phone, up to 15 minutes before you need to meet your escort, as they will only wait 5 minutes for you after they arrive at the pickup destination. They service the immediate area around campus, so this might not be a viable choice for students living too far off campus (but they can still escort you to any busy stop nearby!)
The number to call is (510) 642 9255, and you can also visit http://bearwalk.berkeley.edu to request an escort. Bearwalk operates from dusk till 3:00am but the last call is 2:30am.

The LOOP
The LOOP is a golf cart that provides intra-campus rides for eligible faculty, staff, and students with disabilities on a first-come, first-served basis. This service was created to assist persons with mobility disabilities (including temporary disability as a result of injury) and visual impairments. The Loop only operates on the core campus. https://dac.berkeley.edu/accommodations-services/mobility-accommodations/loop-golf-cart
Eligibility for the Loop:• All riders must demonstrate a disability-related need to receive approval to use the Loop. Campus Access Services
receives requests for Loop access, verifies the requestor’s disability needs based on available documentation, and approves requests as appropriate.
• Students with active cases with the DSP will have Loop access approved based on their currently documented disability status, in consultation with their Disability Specialist. Additional information about DSP’s processes can be found here. https://dsp.berkeley.edu/students/returningstudents
• Non-DSP students must provide documentation of their disability need(s) including your expected recovery period. You will receive access to the Loop for one (1) semester or through your expected recovery from the injury/condition for which you seek Loop access, whichever is shortest. Access to the Loop can be extended beyond the initial request in consultation with Campus Access Services.
• Staff, Faculty, and visiting researchers/scholars are currently not required to provide disability documentation,
however they must certify their need and describe the length of their requested Loop access in detail.
• Guests and visitors to campus should contact their sponsoring department or the department sponsoring the program oe event they are visiting to receive campus mobility support. Alternatively, they may contact Campus Access Services at [email protected] or (510) 643-6456) for assistance.
Having trouble using the app to request a ride?If you’re already approved by Loop services and are having trouble with the Loop app, please call 510-219-6981 to contact dispatch for a ride.

AC TRANSIT
ALAMEDA CONTRA-COSTA TRANSIT actransit.org/ AC Transit operates in the East Bay, including the UC Berkeley Campus. The Student EasyPass is a student funded program that gives students free unlimited AC Transit access around Berkeley, the East Bay, and to the Peninsula. It comes loaded onto a Clipper Card, an all-in-one transit card that students can use to access public transit around the campus and greater Bay Area as well as load funds onto the card for access to BART, MUNI, and many other Bay Area transit options.. Incoming freshman and transfer students can pick up their Clipper Cards at the Cal1 office, usually around the same time they receive their Cal IDs. A description of the AC Transit routes that serve campus are on the following pages: https://pt.berkeley.edu/transportation-options/public-transportation-passes-and-info/ac-transit-student-classpass
LOADING FUNDS IN YOUR CLIPPER CARDIn-Person: You can load your Clipper Card with funds at any BART station using their many ticket vending machines or at participating retailers, and ticket offices. A map of all the retail locations can be found below: https://www.clippercard.com/ClipperWeb/map.do
Online:If going in person is too troublesome, you can also load it online at: https://www.clippercard.com
App-Store: Download the Clipper Card app on Google Play or the App Store to load funds on your clipper card. Select the option to load a card at the top left hand corner. You can either add a virtual clipper card to the Apple Wallet/Google Wallet or upload an existing plastic Clipper Card. If you choose the second option, it does not let you pay fares via phone.
REPLACING YOUR CLIPPER CARDFor Lost/Stolen**/Damaged/Defective cards with no funds loaded:You must visit the Parking and Transportation office located at 1995 University Avenue, Suite #110 with your Cal1 Card. From here, fill out the Student EasyPass replacement form and pay a $25 replacement fee. You can pick up your new card at the same office, and will have to re-register it online at the Clipper Card Website. Please note that the pass on your previous card will be deactivated.
For Lost/Stolen**/Damaged/Defective cards with funds loaded on it:You must call Clipper at 1-877-878-8883 to cancel your card, and they will send a new one to Parking and Transportation’s office. After this, you can pick it up with a valid Cal1 ID card and the $25 replacement fee.

AMTRAKamtrak.com/dealsAmtrak, the national rail operator, has four train routes that pass through the Bay Area. If you’re from anywhere outside of the Bay Area (Redding, Modesto, Merced, Bakersfield, SLO, LA, San Diego, Sacramento, Santa Barbara, or San Jose) taking the Amtrak may be a convenient method of transportation to get to and from home during vacations. Riding on the Amtrak can often be more cost efficient than driving or flying and provides you with some of the best views of the state and the country.
10% Student discounts on tickets are available for most routes to students who have a Student Advantage card. Students are eligible to receive a 15% discount on their train ticket by using the promotion code V353 on our booking website, a station Quik-Trak machine, a ticket agent at a staffed station or from a conductor if you board a train at an unstaffed station.
