Solemnity of Pentecost Contemporary Rite p. 63

Confiteor p. 66 Gloria p. 68

V. For the Spirit of the Lord fills the world, is all-embracing, and knows what man says. Alleluia. R. Therefore no one who utters wicked things can go unnoticed, nor will chas-tising condemnation pass him by. Alleluia V. Glory be… R. As it was… A Reading from the Acts of the Apostles Acts 2:1-11

When the time for Pentecost was fulfilled, they were all in one place together. And sud-denly there came from the sky a noise like a strong driving wind, and it filled the entire house in which they were. Then there appeared to them tongues as of fire, which part-ed and came to rest on each one of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in different tongues, as the Spirit enabled them to proclaim. Now there were devout Jews from every nation under heaven staying in Jerusalem. At this sound, they gathered in a large crowd, but they were confused because each one heard them speaking in his own language. They were astounded, and in amazement they asked, "Are not all these people who are speaking Galileans? Then how does each of us hear them in his native language? We are Parthians, Medes, and Elamites, inhabitants of Mesopotamia, Judea and Cappadocia, Pontus and Asia, Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt and the districts of Libya near Cyrene, as well as travelers from Rome, both Jews and converts to Judaism, Cretans and Arabs, yet we hear them speaking in our own tongues of the mighty acts of God." This is the Word of the Lord. Thanks be to God.

Deacon’s Dialogue Deacon Richard Kasprzak

Liz and I are going to a wedding. One of my nephews is getting married in Cleveland, Ohio. I had to get a new suit, as the old one fits a slenderer me. I was shocked at the price of suits. It cost almost as much as I paid for my first car, not a new car of course. Lucky for me, the shoes that I bought about twelve years ago still fit, since I hardly ever wear them, so I saved about thirty (?)or forty (?) dollars. Just hope that one of my good shirts fits now, either the red one or the pink one should do me just fine. The tie will be easy, as my wife will pick it out for me and save me the trouble of wondering what to wear. Speaking of my wife, she is finished with this course of treatment. Her next appointment is three months from now. She should be back to church next Sunday. She is looking for-ward to that occasion. It has been a long, hard, haul for her, but she is still my beautiful girl, the girl I married almost fifty years ago. She and my daughter have been out shopping for wedding stuff the last few days. This tends to terrorize me!! Three words can bring out the sweats in me, and they are such little words. “We are going out shopping for shoes” (I don’t know where she will put the new ones, unless she trades the spaces.) IT IS THANKING GOD FOR EACH NEW DAY BY LIVING IT TO THE FULLEST ~WILFREDF A. PETERSON

A reading from the First letter of St. Peter. 1 Peter 4:13-16

Brothers and sisters: No one can say, "Jesus is Lord," except by the Holy Spirit. There are different kinds of spiritual gifts but the same Spirit; there are different forms of ser-vice but the same Lord; there are different workings but the same God who produces all of them in everyone. To each individual the manifestation of the Spirit is given for some benefit. As a body is one though it has many parts, and all the parts of the body, though many, are one body, so also Christ. For in one Spirit we were all baptized into one body, whether Jews or Greeks, slaves or free persons, and we were all given to drink of one Spirit.

This is the Word of the Lord Thanks be to God

Sequence Alleluia

V. Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia R. Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia V. Come, Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful and kindle in them the fire of your love. R. Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia A Reading from the Holy Gospel According to St. John John 17:1-11

On the evening of that first day of the week, when the doors were locked, where the dis-ciples were, for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood in their midst and said to them, "Peace be with you." When he had said this, he showed them his hands and his side. The disciples rejoiced when they saw the Lord. Jesus said to them again, "Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, so I send you." And when he had said this, he breathed on them and said to them, "Receive the Holy Spirit. Whose sins you forgive are forgiven them, and whose sins you retain are retained." This is the Gospel of the Lord. Praise be to You, Jesus Christ.

A Note From the Pastor! Today we celebrate the Solemnity of Pentecost, which is the last day of the Easter

Season. As we commemorate the sending of the Holy Spirit onto the Apostles, let us pray that the Holy Spirit will enter into our hearts and fill us with the fire of His love and gifts.

Have a blessed week! Fr. John

Clean Sweep This year, we are asking everyone, if you see something on the Church property that needs to be done (weeding, etc…) please take an hour or two and do it. We need eve-ryone’s help to keep the grounds looking nice, so your volunteer time is greatly appreci-ated. We have found that having a weekly time did not fit into people’s schedules. If you need any special equipment from the garage, contact Fr. John, Deacon Richard or Suzanne Sniezek and they will open it for you.

Parish Committee Meeting The June Parish Committee Meeting will be held on June 20 at 7 PM in the hall. All committee members are expected to attend, and all parishioners are invited to attend this meeting.

Newsletter

The June/July Spirit of Our Savior Newsletter is out. Please check for your name in the hall where the Newsletters are located and take it home with you.

Mass begins at 12:30 PM, and the festivities will commence right after. In order to accommodate this event, the Sunday Mass at Our Savior will be celebrated at 9 AM that day. Please make a note of the change, and make every effort to attend the Picnic as well!
