SIXTH SUNDAY OF EASTER

MINISTRIES IN ACTION RELIGIOUS EDUCATION

We welcome 53 of our young children

as they gather around our family table

to share in their FIRST EUCHARIST

this weekend! As we celebrate the blessing that these children and their families are for our parish, please

continue to pray for them, that nourished by Christ’s own Body and Blood, they will become His Body and Blood for one another and our world! Prayer Partners who would like to know which Liturgy your child will be celebrating can find the list of the window of the Religious Ed. work office.

New Ministry Opportunity - Gardening

Chuck and Rosemary Kornik created beautifully

raised gardens in the backyard of their home,

which is now our parish rectory. When we bought

the house last year, someone suggested that perhaps

interested parishioners might be willing to help us use

these beautiful beds to grow fresh vegetables this

summer which could be distributed by our food pantry.

If anyone is interested in becoming part of this new

ministry, please call the parish office and let us know.

Perhaps one family could adopt one of the beds and

raise tomatoes, another lettuce, a third carrots or

melons. A little cultivating, some

weeding, and before we know it, fresh

produce for our friends who come to

us in their need. Fathers Dennis and

Carlos have volunteered to do the

watering! Let us know today if you

are interested so we can make this

happen!

TEACHER APPRECIATION PARTY! You will not want to miss out on this year’s amazing event on Monday,

May 16th at 5:30 PM! All catechists, aides, and gen-eral helpers who have assisted in our program are invited to attend. Please mark your calendar and RSVP to the Religious Ed Office so we can plan for you!

REGISTRATION! In the quest to complete our registration process for the 2016-2017 school year before the summer break and while we still have clerical help, we are asking parents to register your children when you bring them for classes. Forms may be picked up, completed and left for us on the table outside the Religious Ed Office in the Parish Family Center. Each form is numbered as it comes in, and although we try to honor your choice of day, we can only do so for the first 100 families. Early registration is to your advantage as parents retain the abil-ity to make changes to your choice of day up until mid-

August should your schedule change later on in the spring.

Many thanks to all of you who

continue to support our parish

with your weekly contributions.

Many thanks to those of you

who have been able to increase your weekly

contributions since I made you aware of our financial

concerns for this year’s operational budget. Next

week I will give a complete update on our April

finances, on monies received specifically to help with

our deficit, and the Easter collection.

Thank you for all that you continue to do with your

time, talent, and treasure that help us continue the

mission of our parish family. Your continued

generosity is greatly appreciated.

We are so inspired by the 6th Graders who completed their kingdom assignments that we want to share them with you each week. We will include a summary of one of the reports that we home will touch you and inspire you “to go and do the same”.

Social Events Committee The next meeting of the Social Committee will be held on Friday, May 6th at 7:00 PM. All are welcome! Please contact Wendy Chartrand with any questions at 978-621-0385 or [email protected].

ENRICHMENT OPPORTUNITIES Blessed Among Us

Nano Nagle

On April 26, we celebrated the feast

day of Venerable Nano Nagle, the

foundress of the Sisters of the

Presentation of the Blessed Virgin

Mary, PBVM. Nano was declared

Venerable by Pope Francis in 2013 advancing her

another step closer to sainthood.

Honora “Nano” Nagle lived from 1718-1784 in

Ireland. She lived in a per iod in Ir ish history

when the English had imposed the Penal Laws. The

Irish were denied access economically, politically,

socially, and educationally to the rights and means

that would have raised them from poverty and

oppression. Catholics who dared to teach were

subjected to heavy fines, confiscations, and periods of

imprisonment.

In spite of these unjust laws and their consequences,

Nano chose to educate the children of the poor. Nagle

founded her first school in 1754 in Cove Lane with

about 30 students. Within nine months, she was

educating 200 girls. By 1757, she had opened seven

schools, five for girls and two for boys. The

schools provided pupils with a basic education and

religious instruction.

In addition, Nano Nagle began to visit the sick and

the elderly after school, bringing them food, medicine

and comfort. She opened homes for aged women,

and began conducting adult classes. She went from

hovel to hovel each day to gather the most needy

people to teach. Night-time ministries to poverty-

ridden elderly and sick in her home town gave her the

nickname The Lady with the Lantern. The lantern

later became the symbol of the Sisters of the

Presentation worldwide.

Studying the lives of saints have inspired men and

women in every age to respond to the challenging

work of living the Gospel with “deeds not words.”

May Nano inspire us to joyfully serve the needs of

others in our day without counting the cost.

The Presentation Sisters have had a far flung

influence on the lives of many, especially here in the

north country of our Diocese. As we remember their

foundress let us offer a pray of gratitude for these

great women who have devoted their lives to the

service of others. May God increase their numbers

with new vocations to continue the charism of Nano

Nagle into the future.

Jesus Challenges!

MEN

Together, Catholic men learn from Jesus and his apostles the special power and resources we’ve been given to commit to our faith in God

and to protect and defend ourselves and others against evil. The Men’s Spiritual Study Group will meet on Wednesday, May 4th, 7-8 PM in the par ish center . Questions? Call Dave LaLiberty at 978-537-1134 or email at [email protected].

Women’s Guild Meeting

The next meeting of the Women’s

Guild will be Wed., May 4th at 12:30

PM. We will enjoy some pizza for

lunch! Looking forward to seeing you

there!

Memorial Gifts Recently our professional cross was repaired and refurbished and a new stand was made for it. This was done in memory of Jeffrey Gelinas by his mother Carol Gelinas. Saint Bernadette was returned to our Grotto last Saturday after having been repaired and repainted in honor of Kathleen by her parents. We also received a beautiful wooden Eucharistic plaque that was also restored to its original beauty. It was donated to our parish by Annette Bergeron-Leger. Lastly, two gold chalices that were found in the attic, have been re-plated with memorial money so that they can now be used again at Mass. Many thanks to these benefactors and to all who contribute to our memorial fund. We are very grateful.

Father Carlos’ Pills of Faith

“The Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the

Father will send in my name, will teach

you everything and remind you of all that

I told you.” John 14:25

In this Sunday’s Gospel, God gives us a promise

concerning the Holy Spirit. God keeps His word. He

never fails! When He makes a promise or gives you

His word you can go to the bank with it. You can

believe it. He will keep it; it will come to pass!

Just wait, because the power of the Holy Spirit enables

you to be born again. He gives you a brand new life.

He enlivens your spirit. He makes you alive for the

first time with the Spirit of Jesus Christ, the divine life.
