THOUGHTS FROM THE PASTOR In our reading from the Book of the Prophet Isaiah we read "Thus says the LORD: I know their works and their thoughts, and I come to gather nations of every language; they shall come and see my glory. I will set a sign among them; from them I will send fugitives to the nations: to Tarshish, Put and Lud, Mosoch, Tubal and Javan, to the distant coastlands that have never heard of my fame, or seen my glory; and they shall proclaim my glory among the nations." That sign that has been set before us is Our Lord Jesus Christ. He is the binding force that makes us one. He is the eternal sign of the Father's love for us. He is the sign of peace. He is the source of salvation of the world. So my friends, lift up your drooping heads, raise your hands in praise, and do not lose hope for the light has dawn upon the world.

On Saturday, August twenty-fourth we celebrated the Sacrament of Confirmation. Please continue to pray for the children who were confirmed that may continue in their love of the Lord.

I want to encourage you to think about becoming a Religious Education Teacher. Our children could use your help. Please see Mr.

Alfredo Flores for more information. Speaking of Religious Education, it is that time again to register for the upcoming school year. You can do so online at olphparish.net or pick up a form in the back of church.

WHAT ARE THEY ASKING ABOUT THE CHURCH

TODAY

In this Column I will answer questions about the Church or the parish; so whatever you want to know about the Church or the parish, please just ask. In

addition, we will sometimes look at Issues that affect our church or our members. I often get questions on what is Eucharistic Adoration. This week I will start a series on Eucharistic Adoration. Hopefully it will answer your questions.

“ADORATION IS ESSENTIALLY AN EMBRACE WITH JESUS IN WHICH I SAY TO HIM: "I AM

YOURS, AND I ASK YOU, PLEASE STAY WITH ME ALWAYS." Pope Benedict XVI

"We Have Come To Do Him Homage"

Those words, spoken by the Magi from the East as they searched for the infant Jesus, resound through the centuries to be echoed in the heart of every person who makes a visit to the Blessed Sacrament. The presence of Our Lord in the Blessed Sacrament is as real today as the infant Jesus was to the Wise Men who sought Him by following a star rising in the East. As Pope John Paul II affirms in his encyclical on the relationship of the Eucharist to the Church," the gaze of the Church is constantly turned to her Lord, present in the Sacrament of the Altar, in which she discovers the full manifestation of boundless love." (The Church and the Eucharist)

ADORATION ES ESENCIALMENTE UN ABRAZO CON JESUS EN EL QUE LE DICES: "yo soy tuyo, y te pido por favor quedate conmigo siempre." Pope Benedicto XVI

Stewardship Thought

"But once it is sown it springs up and becomes the largest of plants."

This is what the Lord Jesus tells us about faith. The same can be

said of stewardship. It is a form of paying it forward. When we give to someone, they in turn can give to another until the whole

world becomes a place of giving. All it takes is one person to start it all. Be a good steward!!!

I am your humble servant, Fr. Charles A. Mosley

mo!!!

Su humilde servidor, P. Charles A. Mosley

PRAY FOR PEACE: Two mass shootings in less than twenty four hours! The horrible violence that continues in our society reminds of why we need peace. We need the violence to come to an end. I invite you to join me every Friday to take some time and pray for peace. It does not have to be long, whatever time you may have, let us spend it in prayer for peace. You do not have to be in church, alt-hough the church is always available to you, prayer can happen anywhere you are. Let us just do this and use this great tool that the Lord has given us and make our world a place of love and peace.

Faith Formation begins on September 16th! You can pick up registrations in the back of the church or even register online on the parish website. Please consider helping! It's a great way to get involved with your faith and community. In September we will have 2 sessions of Come and Learn about the Catholic Faith for anyone who is curious about becoming Catholic, or just wants to learn a little more about our faith. If you know someone who is curious about becoming Catholic or wants to learn more, invite them! Dates are tentative. In September we will start Family Ministry. On the second Sunday of each month, families with children in elementary school are invited to our activities. From bonfires, hay rides and family movie nights and much more. On the second Sunday in September we will have a bonfire to make some s’mores and a weenie roast at 6 o'clock here at OLPH.
