3rd Sunday of Advent Pastoral Visitation 16/17 December The Bishop of our area, Bishop John Sherrington will be coming to the Parish for a Pastoral Visita-tion this weekend. Bishop John will say Masses on Saturday even-ing and Sunday. At the 12noon Mass intentions will be offered for all Adorers of the Blessed Sacrament, and their families, also for those who have donated towards the new stained glass window. The 12noon Mass will be followed by a ‘Bring & Share Lunch’ up-stairs in the Parish Centre.

CATECHISM—WHAT WE BELIEVE What does the Gospel teach about the mysteries of the birth and infancy of Jesus? At Christmas the glory of heaven is shown forth in the weakness of a baby; the circumcision of Jesus is a sign of his belonging to the Hebrew people and is a prefiguration of our Bap-tism; the Epiphany is the manifestation of the Messiah King of Isra-el to all the nations; at the presentation in the temple, Simeon and Anna symbolise all the anticipation of Israel awaiting its encounter with its Saviour; the flight into Egypt and the massacre of the inno-cents proclaim that the entire life of Christ will be under the sign of persecution; the departure from Egypt recalls the exodus and pre-sents Jesus as the new Moses and the true and definitive liberator.

****************************************************************************** Rehearsal for Family Vigil Mass, Christmas Eve will take place on Saturday 23 December at 11am. All children are invited to come to the rehearsal in preparation for the Vigil Mass at 6pm. Children can dress as shepherds or angels, to participate more fully in the Mass and present the real mean-ing of Christmas.

Advent Services of Reconciliation St. William of York Church in Stanmore will have a Service of Reconciliation on Monday 18 December at 7.30pm and The Annunciation Church in Burnt Oak on Wednesday 20 December at 7.30pm. References for school and other applications are written during Clergy Availability. Forms need to be filled out in advance. Applications for a place in a Catholic School Application forms, including the Priest’s reference form, will be available from the schools to which applications are being made. This applies to nursery, infant, junior and secondary schools and sixth form colleges. Carol Concert Anyone who is interested in some festive singing with the choir at the Christmas Carol Service on Wednesday 20th December at 7pm, please speak to Monica or George after Mass or call Monica on 07887582004. We are very keen for more children to join us! A collection will take place after the Carol Service to help support The Passage in the work that they do with homeless people through their resource centre in Cen-tral London. Please join us after the Carol Concert in the Holy Family Room for mulled wine and mince pies. Senior Citizens Christmas Lunch, St. Anthony’s Parish Centre was on Saturday 16 December. Thank you, everyone who was involved with the preparations and who helped at and after the lunch. Thanks, too, to everyone who gave presents which were given to our guests. Society of St Vincent de Paul Thank you for your generosity last weekend. £503 was raised which will help the good work of the S.V.P. among disadvantaged people locally. The SVP are distributing 12,000 Vinnie Packs containing cold weather essentials to the homeless this winter. Please could you consider sponsoring packs at a suggest-ed donation of £3.50 per pack.
