A GAMES IN THE HEART OF THE WORLD
I. REASONS TO HOST AND PROPOSED DATES
Paris 2028 will be a games that celebrate the heart and soul of the Olympic movement.
Through a fantastic Cultural Olympiad and high quality venues, to the new sporting programs
that will be brought to all of France Paris will inspire and unite. It is our hope that by hosting the
games in 2028 Paris will breathe new life into the Olympic movement in Europe and inspire
future athletes and Olympians.
Paris last hosted the games in 1924 and first hosted the games in 1900. Hosting the 1900 games
brought France into the Olympics and established a strong partnership in the relationship with
the IOC. In addition France has twice hosted the Winter Olympics and Paris has made three bids
for the games in the past (1992, 2008, 2012 respectively.).
France is also a culturally rich nation and very sports enthusiastic and has a population of nearly
63 million people. This enthusiasm can be seen in our many sports teams, legacy of hosting
world class sporting events, and Olympic medal record. Paris itself is very sports oriented and
home to three soccer teams and some of France’s most popular sporting events. This will provide
a very exciting and enthusiastic environment for which the games to be held.
Paris proposes to host the games from July 21st – August 4
th and the Paralympics two
weeks later on August 18th
– August 25th
. This period would provide the most optimal weather
for athletes, sporting bodies, and media.
II. WEATHER AND CLIMATE
During the proposed date the Parisian climate is between 60°F - 77°F and the days are
typically filled with sunshine. The climate and weather of Paris during the Games time
will provide not only the optimal climate for athletes and spectators, but the perfect
natural setting for international viewers.
III. TRANSPORTATION
Paris is home to one of the best and largest Public Transportation Systems. Apart from
the cities unique walkability, Paris features a network of large boulevards, a large metro
system, a city bike service, and a bus system. During the games special Olympic Priority
lanes, Olympic Trains, and Olympic Buses will be available to all athletes and the
Olympic family.
