Parents Newsletter
October 2017
Environmental Stimulation – Children will benefit from having the environment as their
third teacher. Art will be at children’s eye level. The emphasis will be on using natural materials that can be used in more than one way to encourage an interest in the natural
world and exploration.
Community and Parental Involvement – Children benefit in being equal partners with, parents and
teachers in the learning process. This gives children the power to direct their learning and grow their creativity
but most of all practitioners & parents will listen, observe, document and encourage the children in
whatever it is they are interested in doing
Children’s learning will be visually documented- Practitioners will take pictures, save all the children’s
work (such as drawings, crafts, works of art) and observations, these will be displayed within their
individual base rooms. By displaying these in a visual way the children, practitioners and parents can follow
the individual progress of the children.
“Hundred Languages” of Expression – Children benefit from using many
“languages” to express themselves... The languages include writing, building,
sculpting, and dramatic play. Children develop skills and problem-solving ability
through hands-on practice.
We would like to invite all parents to pop
into the nursery to experience our new
environment and see how your children are
learning & developing with the different
natural resources.
Changes to the Nursery Environment
Over the next few weeks you will see changes within the nursery environment. We will be implementing natural resources and more neutral colours with our tables &
storage shelves. Our Children will be able to explore and discover in a supportive and rich environment
where the children’s interests helped to determine their learning and development.
