Kindergarten

DROP-OFF AND PICK-UP Class starts at 8:45 promptly Classroom door will open at 8:30
Pick-up at… 3:15 (2:15 Wednesday)
Children with no siblings in the Lower School Children with siblings in Grades K-2
3:30 (2:30 Wednesday) Children with siblings in Grades 3-5
A Kindergarten Teacher will be there with the children. If you park and walk with your child, please inform the duty teacher that you are leaving.
Clubs: A Kindergarten Teacher will walk all children to clubs at 3:30
Bus: A Kindergarten Teacher will walk children to the bus at 3:20
COMMUNICATION
Communication Bus changes: Parents must complete the change of routine form
on the main zis.ch website, under Quicklinks. Changes will not be made unless the form is filled out.
Please ensure that you cc Assistant teachers on all communication.

OTHER ROUTINES Birthdays If you would like, you may send small treats such as cookies or cupcakes
with your child on their special day. Please let us know in advance - we have some allergies in Kindergarten. Birthday invitations-Please post or email directly to the families, as these
will not be distributed in the class.
Clothing Please provide your child with a pair of rain boots, rain trousers and a rain
jacket. These need to be in school at all times as we go outside no matter what the weather and we also do visit the forest every week.
Please ensure that your child has an extra pair of trousers, a shirt, a pair of socks and a pair of underwear at school in case of emergencies.
P.E/Creative Arts students must wear clothing suitable for movement.
PLEASE LABEL ALL ITEMS OF CLOTHING, DRINK BOTTLES AND LUNCH CONTAINERS.

Introduction to the PYP for new parents: September 27th

MATHEMATICS
5 Units in Kindergarten: Number, Pattern, Shape & Space, Measurement & Data Handling
Taught in both stand-alone sessions and within other subject areas
LITERACY Reading
Independent reading program will start 2nd week of September with books being sent home
Reading is not just a home program but a partnership Reading at school
Children are read to Children read with their peers and teachers Children read independently
Writing First Steps
Children will explore different forms of writing Each unit has a writing focus Daily writing practice takes place
EAL (ENGLISH AS AN ADDITIONAL LANGUAGE )
