Educational Services Updates Instructional Technology: The District is making considerable progress in this area. Currently we have a 1:7 devicetostudent ratio. With additional purchases planned for the next few months (all mobile devices), we will come closer to our goal of reaching a 1:3 devicetostudent ratio. In order for this technology to work for students and teachers, new wireless points are scheduled to be installed and on our network by the second week of November.

Comprehensive Student Support Program CSS: The El Monte Union High School District has embarked on a comprehensive schoolwide reform effort known as

the Comprehensive Student Support (CSS) Program. This program addresses early intervention with students in the 3 A's: Attendance, Attitude (Behavior), and Achievement (Academics). It is a systematic approach to helping atrisk students succeed. Each of our 6 high schools has been provided a Comprehensive Student Support Coordinator (CSSC). This person serves as an advocate for our most vulnerable students and ensures provision of appropriate services. Coordination Of Services Team (COST) meetings (conducted by the Comprehensive Student Support Coordinator (CSSC) and the COST Team (multidisciplinary team)) coordinates services to our students with the most severe needs. The COST Team includes the Comprehensive Student Support Coordinator (CSSC), Principal, Assistant Principal of Student Services (APSS), Counselors, School Psychologist, Speech Therapist, and any other key personnel who provide direct services to students.

Questions addressed at the COST Meetings are: 1. How do we get services and resources to the neediest (most atrisk) students at our site using a systematic approach? 2. What is the best way to help students based on the programs/resources available at our site? 3. How do we get services to the atrisk students in the fastest, most efficient manner? In some cases, the COST Team refers students to a Student Success Team (SST) meeting. At this meeting, the parent, child, and SST team are invited to help create an action plan to help the student. CSS Program terminology to know:

(CSS) Program Comprehensive Student Support Program (CSSC) Comprehensive Student Support Coordinator (COST) Coordination Of Services Team meeting (SST) Student Success Team meeting (FUM) Follow Up Meeting

More information will come from your CSSC and student and district administration.
