Background

• Fairfax County DOT has been involved throughout the project development

• Project is part of the Fairfax County Comprehensive Plan• Agreement for funding and administration between

Northern Virginia Transportation Authority and Virginia Department of Transportation (#955-10441)

• Ongoing coordination with Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority (MWAA) and the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA)

Scope and Project Description

• Route 7 has an annual average daily traffic (AADT) of 60,000 per day.

• The DTR has AADT 65,000 per day.• There is only one at-grade crossing for bicycles and

pedestrians within the project limits.• Structures have aesthetic features.• Landscaping is included in the project.• Coordination with the future Route 7 widening project

currently in design.

Traffic Impacts During Construction

Route 7• Will maintain two through lanes and one exit lane

throughout the project• Daily off-peak lane closures

Dulles International Airport Access Highway• Lanes remain the same location throughout the project

with one available shoulder, except for temporary conditions.

• Daily off peak lane closures

• Lanes remain in the current configuration with right shoulders removed
