Dear Parents and Carers
We seem to have had a very sporty few weeks at
Para Meadows!
A trial bike riding day was conducted by Bryan
Goddard from Thirroul BikeWorx. If you would like
your child to participate in a bike riding skills and
safety program next term we will be sending out a
note for expressions of interest . The sessions will
be subsidised but we will be asking for a
contribution from parents. Students will need to
bring their own helmet.
Last week we had a basketball day run by Jaiden,
a Basketball NSW representative. He will be
returning for a second session next Tuesday.
I would like to thank Susie Fisher and Jenny Lokys
for liaising with TIGS staff and organising a very
successful sports skills day last Wednesday. We
had 70 TIGS students assisting us.
This week some of our senior students are at Snow
camp with Lorraine, Lisa, Jenny, Kristie and Sheryl.
We hope they have lots of snowy fun!
ABILITY ARTISTS EXHIBITION
Many of our students had the opportunity to show
off their artworks in this years exhibition thanks to
Sabine Kelly’s organisation. Several students will
be presented with their prize in next weeks
assembly. If you missed the exhibition you will
have an opportunity to see all of the artworks next
term .They will be on display during our ’Blingo’
fund raising evening.
BUCKY NEWS
Weeks 7&8
Congratulations to Kasey and Nora and the students in
High School 5 for being peaceful and waiting quietly.
For the rest of term our students will be working on
being proud by wearing their school uniform.
SCHOOL CANTEEN
We continue to be in desperate need for volunteers
to sign up and commit to a day a month or term , to
serve our students and support class programs. At
this stage the canteen may still need to close 1-2
days a week.
Thank you for supporting the Father’s Day
Stall. It raised $446.72 for the school.
I hope that you all have a restful and enjoyable
Spring Break. Students will come back to
school on Monday 15th of October.
Thanks for all your support this term.

Careers News
For the last four weeks some Stage 6 students have been very busy gaining work experience at a taster
program at Greenacres. They enjoyed working in the factories, and learning how to remain safe whilst on the
job. Students participated in various jobs such as pulling apart and sorting electronic equipment and packing
sales products. BUT… It wasn’t just all hard work! Students also enjoyed a fun open day and got to ride a
giant slide, dance, see the emergency service vehicles and enjoy some special treats.
It was a fantastic few weeks and we were very impressed with the students and how hard they all worked.
Here are a few photos of students at the Greenacres taster program.
High School enjoy our
fitness time with Go Noodle. The basketball day with Jaiden
was fantastic.
It was great having the students from
TIGS come to our school and play
different sports.
Playing ‘Trouble “together in the
afternoon.
Playing netball during the sports day.
Learning to cook with

Keeping busy with work
groups.
We love having our parents share special days
with us.
HS9 High School 11 and 12 excursion to the Blue Rose Sensory Installation at IPAC.
Last Thursday High School 11 and 12 students had the pleasure of participating in the Blue Rose
Sensory Installation at IPAC in Wollongong. It was a wonderful day with many experiences to explore.
The students visited an ‘Enchanted Forest’ where they could interact with many sensory materials whilst
surrounded by calming sounds and soft lights. They then moved on to the ‘Spaceship Room’ where the
booming sounds of space and music along with the digital backdrop, could be changed at the students
control. Next the students enjoyed the ‘Shadow Room’ making shapes against a range of digital scenes
that could be altered with their touch. The day culminated in a jam session with a jazz band from
Wollongong Conservatorium of Music and music therapists. Some of our students joined in an
impromptu version of the song ’Imagine’. It was a marvellous day!
