PRESCHOOL REVIEW
Towards the end of Term 2 our Preschool was assessed against The National Quality Framework as part of the assessment and rating cycle for all Preschools nationally. This is an overview of the feedback we received from DECD:
‘I congratulate Peter and his team for achieving an overall rating of ‘Exceeding’ the National Quality Standard as well as an ‘Exceeding’ rating for 7 of the 7 Quality Areas and 17 out of 18 Standards. A fantastic effort. Well done! Your commitment and dedication to providing high quality education and care to children, families and your local community is acknowledged and appreciated.’

OUR NEW PASTORAL CARE WORKER – BEC PAGE
Hello! My name is Bec Page and I am delighted to be appointed as the new Pastoral Care Worker, providing a Chaplaincy Service here at Para Hills School P-7. This is my first week in the school and I want to thank you for your friendly welcome!
I am at school on Mondays and Wednesdays...
come and say Hi! Families are also welcome to contact me by leaving a message at the school front office. Pastoral Care Workers offer a unique dimension of care and support to all members of the school community. I will be a positive role model and bring compassion, understanding and provide practical, ongoing support to students and families. My role includes working alongside and complementing other welfare and wellbeing staff in the school. As the School’s Pastoral Care Worker, I will be available in the yard at break times, will work alongside teachers and students in the classroom, and I will be an extra resource to teachers to support extra-curricular events and activities. I have worked as a Pastoral Care Worker in a primary school before and when I’m not at school, I enjoy walking our dog, Bernie. I am really looking forward to being a part of the Para Hills School community and assisting the school staff to provide the best outcomes for students and their families.

Jesse will now go to Santos Stadium in September to compete in the
State Athletics Championships.
Thank you to Natalie Greet (SSO) and Taylor Wachtel (Pre-service teacher) who were officials on the day,

TERM 2 OVERVIEW
Technology Erin Wilson
This term in Technologies, we will be focussing on Coding. Coding is what makes it possible for us to
create computer software, apps and websites. Students will use computers and iPads to develop
their skills and solve code-based problems. Much of this work will be done through ‘Code Studio’,
which can be accessed at code.org
It is important for children to understand the purpose behind what they are doing and learning.
Sometimes with new technology, this can be confusing. By learning to code (or program a device),
students are beginning to understand how things work and how different computer programs might
be created.
I will be teaching the classes who have Technologies on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, and Lexi
Nystrom will be teaching my Thursday classes this term, whilst I am working in my STEM
Coordinator role.
Health & PE Andy Doran
During Term 2, students from reception onwards will either be learning, enhancing or fine tuning
their Fundamental Movement Skills (FMS). These skills will be taught individually and through
games, this term will be Gymnastics, Yoga, Soccer and Tennis (Hot Shots).
SAPSASA carnivals will increase this term with Cross Country, Girls Soccer, Boys Netball and Rugby
League.
Health this term will focus on Safety, nutrition and continue building their knowledge for a healthy
lifestyle in body and mind.
