Part A
Comments
The candidate has sought out many relevant, but not interrelated foci, for example in his/her description of the
images and use of colours in the artworks.
The candidate is able to connect art forms to many related experiences and feelings, showing an understanding of
the relationships among forms, and has attempted to analyse the key messages of the designs, for example in the use of
colours and lines between two artworks.
The candidate is able to provide multiple interpretations of meaning with forms of presentation, for example in
plate (1a), he/she suggests the cross represents a religious symbol. In plate (1b), he/she argues the brush strokes and the
colours used suggest a kind of experiment in style.
The candidate is able to propose multiple criteria, yet is unable to judge the appropriateness of the presentation for
delivering the key message, for example in his/her comments on the meaning behind of the two artworks.

the key message of the theme, for example his/her use of a flat, thick strokes.

the description of the use of colour in Plate (3a) and the materials used in Plate (3b).

understanding the relationship among the forms, for example in Plate (3a), he/she states the grey colour
creates a playful atmosphere and the way of packaging in Plate (3b) evokes a strong traditional
Japanese art style.
