Dead Quiet Saturday:

An awkward teen get’s stoned for the first time in the back of a Subaru in his freshman year of high school. He and his girlfriend of two years run out of things to talk about and they break up a week before graduation, and he decides to fake sick on the day of graduation. Derrick is apathetic towards most things in life. He’s twenty-three now, and after working at RadioShack since his junior year in high school, too afraid to take the manager shift that was offered to him, he’s turned into a bored and nihilistic shell of a person. But he’s always sort of been a bored and nihilistic person. He figures it’s genetic. Dead Quiet Saturday reflects on the awkward and almost emotionless past of an incredibly unsure person of a generation who grew up with Google, and are no longer ignorant to the problems in the world. Or are they? Do they even care? Does he even care? Probably not. He’ll just torrent a movie or a new album. He has a hard time falling asleep these days, and somedays doesn’t sleep at all, and tonight’s going to be one of those nights, as he feels like he’s made another petty decision.

White Chocolate Orange Blondies ~ Vegan & Gluten Free Ingredients:

• 2 tbsp flaxseed meal mixed with 4 tbsp water • 1/3 cup organic sugar • 1 tsp freshly grated orange zest • 2-3 tsp vanilla extract • 1 tsp orange extract (optional) • 3/4 cup sorghum flour • 1/4 cup almond flour • 1/4 cup potato starch • 1 tsp xanthan gum • 1 tsp sea salt • 6 ounces vegan white chocolate (about 1 1/2 cups worth-

depending on how large the chunks are) • 1/2 cup vegan margarine

Preheat oven to 350 °F, and lightly grease a 9 inch or 8 x8 baking pan. In a large mixing bowl, combine prepared flaxseed meal, sugar, orange zest, and vanilla extract. In separate, smaller bowl, combine sorghum flour, almond flour, potato starch and xanthan gum and salt. Break the white chocolate into small chunks, and using a double boiler, melt the white chocolate and the margarine over medium low heat. You’re white chocolate and cocoa butter may become slightly separated at this point… whisk ‘em together to make them once again homogeneous. Immediately combine melted white chocolate and margarine with the sugar and flaxseed mixture. Slowly incorporate the flour mixture until all has been added. Your batter will be thick! Spread into prepared pan and bake in preheated oven for about 25-30 minutes. Let cool and enjoy! I haven’t made them. :/
