Since he took that new job his commute takes him further away from home. John, now spends more than and hour and a half on the road everyday. His commute, coupled with having to work late to impress the new boss, means that John spends more time working than he does with his family. John would do anything for more time at home. He needs to figure out the best route to work in real time, one that would get him out of the endless traffic jams. John got a big raise with his new job, but with energy cost on the rise more of his hard earned money goes right out of the window. Scenario Y! Stack Feature Behavior Papa John needs to shorten his daily commute. His Y! Stack comes to the rescue Y! Network: cellular and satellite Navitech road watch module Papa John recently purchased Navitech’s Road Watch module for his Y! Stack. This module uses the combine data from all cars traveling on John’s route to work. It gives an up to the minute road report and routes John based on current traffic patterns. It also re-routes John so that he can avoid accidents and road construction. With the Navitech module John shortens his commute by 45 minutes each way. John needs a better way to manage his energy consumption. With energy cost on the rise and no end in sight, he needs to keep his usage down. Y! Networks: WiFi and DSL Neighborhood link Energy module Water saver module Gas Watch module John has signed up with the Gas company for its Neighborhood link program. The utilities monitor energy usage for John community and make suggestions on how John can save money. He also uses Water saver to interface with his sprinkler system to maximize watering times and amount of water to use. With these new modules on his Y! Stack he has been able to shave over $1000 a year off his bills.
