New Features – Responsive Web Sites

Multimedia Widget for Responsive Sections

After consultation with many of the services, we have implemented the Multimedia widget for Responsive

design as well. This widget enables you to place the media player directly on your section pages, where

audience can play and consume your content directly, without going to the media pages.

The multimedia widget has been designed to help to present the multimedia content – Videos, Broadcast

Programs, and Audio Clips. It can be used in 1 to 3 column areas, displaying introduction, Zone/Date/Label

upon setting. Note that this widget is intended to display only one item, as the main purpose it to promote

particular content.

The set up in Pangea CMS is similar to all the widget types – just select Multimedia widget option when creating

new widget.

The setting follows the same pattern as for any

other widget. Note that for fully responsive sites

(sites having no longer desktop version), we have

prepared the embedding option for this widget.

embedded code and pass it to your partner sites /

affiliates:

User Generated Content

This is our response on many requests, mainly from RFERL

services, about missing a User Generated Content on

responsive web sites. Our web users used to have such

feature to send a file/ document/ picture from a page

directly to Pangea CMS.

If you want to start using the User Generated Content page,

please make sure keys UGC.UploadPage

UGC.UploadPage.TermsOfUseLink and

UGC.UploadPage.TermsOfUseCaption are properly

localized. The final step is just to promote on your

homepage or within a navigation link to /userupload.html.

There is no change in the workflow or supported file

formats, see below.

Responsive sites newly support the documents as part of the related content

There is possible to attach a document to a

content via related content in Pangea CMS.

For web users if a pdf document attached into

a content, it was not clear that there is a file

to download. We improved the documents

and styled them to display document title and

a type (pdf/txt/ppt(x)/doc(x)/xml).

Calendar for a radio schedule page

As of Pangea version 7.09 we brought a radio schedule page with possibility to look for a specific time period up

to the screen size and it was not able to look for a specific date. In this release, we developed a calendar in a

/radioschedule.html page. Please revise localization Responsive.Calendar key.

Default tab for audio zone

As the part of the last release, we’ve added an article tab on an audio archive zone page and if an article was in

an zone, it appeared automatically. As of version 7.10, editors can set up which tab they would like to show and

which tab should be as default via zone settings in Pangea CMS (as they were used to for desktop).

Live adaptive streaming

As follow up to our adaptive bitrate video on-demand feature, we bring you live adaptive streaming in 7.10. Live

adaptive streaming is currently available only for sites using external PTV tubes and will be enabled after all

sites have been configured properly.

Save & Continue function for Articles

To make your work in Pangea CMS smoother, safer,

and easier, we have implemented a "Save&Continue"

functionality for all the text-based content: Article,

Transcript, News, Blog, Press Release, Feature, and

Live Blog.

Pressing this button allows you to save your work,

and continue working on the Article Edit page.

Possibility to edit Tube name in PangeaTV widget

Based on the feedback from you regarding the PangeaTV widget on responsive, we have implemented a

solution, that allows users to either change the name of the Tube that is displayed by default on the widget level,

or select the option to not display any name at all (not even the LIVE badge).

Facebook Instant Articles

Pangea Digital Team is proud to announce that Pangea is now fully capable serving Facebook Instant Articles.

Instant Articles allow Facebook mobile users to consume content natively inside Facebook mobile applications

(iOS and Android). See more at https://instantarticles.fb.com/

Pilot sites helped to improve Pangea-to-Facebook communication.

BBG Direct Improvements

New functionality allows BBG Direct users to save

their custom searches and be notified on the site if

new content matched with the search was published.

Email notifications are coming in the upcoming

release.
